Original album track "An Epilogue To Infinity"
released via Relapse Records
One of the drumming videos that does not get any less mind blowing everytime you watch it. Sebastian is truly on a league of mostly his own.
"Oh, he's going foot-to-foot. He's going foot-to-foot" :D
I came here just after watching that video, hahaha
Sorry, but what does "foot-to-foot" mean?
@@WilmersondaSilva Search for "jazz drummer reacts: obscura" :D
Thanks a lot, man. Will do
I could hear his voice whike reading this lol
1:15 That hi-hat groove sits so well with that guitar riff. Everything from his playing, techniques, composition, mix, and mastering is perfect. Sebastian is one of the best drummers in the world, no doubt. :O
Yes, and I think with David Diepold we will lose that groove. They are totally different techniques, and you could already tell the difference when he played covers of Obscura (Difference in favor of Sebastian).
They are both great drummers, but that strongly mixed groove is unique to Sebastian.
@@NarMattaru I don't actually worry, it is not something David will not be able to nail. I'm sure he'll contribute some amazing drum lines and bring forth a more aggressive approach to the rhythm section.
I see people talking about it like David is a noobie. Don't worry, he got this.
David can play this guaranteed
David can play anything Sébastien plays
@@NarMattaru sebastian better than david ? or David better than sebastian ?
Everyone in Obscura is a legend. I listened to this album at least 3x per day when it came out.
I’m so amazed by this guy. Such a fluid, yet technical playing style that is insanely satisfying to watch.
Gabriel Gomér Drums I know right ❤️🤘🏼
Awesome! These drumpatterns, the style and the fretless makes me think of Sean Reinert (RIP)
I'd rather say Bobby Jarzombek
That was scary yet amazing at the same time. Obscura has brought some dramatic changes in their song writing.Much technicality and well crafted.
Yet they'll never been top OMNIVIUM in my opinion
@@isaackmojica8302 your comment is 3 years old.. do you still feel that way?? Just curious
@@Trey_Johnson11 still...omnivium is just too perfect and unique for even obscura....
@@isaackmojica8302é bem bom mas na formação do akroasis e dilluvium n há quem bata em nível de técnica e criatividade
Best song from the latest album! This is a tech death masterpiece! Hands down to Sebastian!! \m/
1:48 my god, that lead foot switch for the triplets is nice and clean
Most impressive part indeed, I guess only drummers can notice that ;)
100%! My double bass isn’t near that pristine.
He does this on a few other videos also. His technique is probably the best sounding to me.
So I am trying to understand triplets vs hertas. I understood these to be hertas, you guys call them triplets. Can someone explain where I go wrong? I believe a herta is where the count is 1 2 3 4 and you play the 1 2 and 3. And a triplet is where you would play 3 stokes in the time it was supposed to be 4?

@@wouterbmx072 tbh I suck at music theory
If I could play drums like this, coronavirus isolation would be way more fun.
You're totally right. I don't even mind being in isolation :)
paulo sampieri great drummers & isolation go hand in hand
i can't get enough of this song!!! It's such a masterpiece!
Just...so...perfect.
Really-perfect.
Sounds like he had Danny Carey for breakfast, with a side of Minneman and Bozzio.
Love his work with Panzer Ballett.
Absolutely incredible performance. Lanser is one of the most interesting and technical drummers in metal right now.
Those transitions from 16ths to tuplets...my god, so flawless...
The sheer speed he plays the DB pattern at 3:47 is just mindblowing. holy hell
Yea) I searched for this comment)
Flawless bro... just flawless!
Fala mano !!
O cara manja né kkk
Sebastian is an amazing drummer. He should share how he tuned his drum.
I can watch this dude for hours.. Such a unique approach to death metal/metal. Shit is refreshing to say the least.
So clean on so many levels. Kit looks amazing and sounds killer. Love that little double bass pattern at 1:53 - 1:55!
Masterfully written and played!!
There is something so METAL about TAMA drums … love it
wow; stunning work! Creative, technical, groovy, musical, inventive... the list goes on, bravo!
Wow, amazingly tight playing. One can hear that every drum hit is played with full intent. Great playing!
What is this? A drum video from 2019 where the drums sound like ACTUAL drums instead of overproduced, overcompressed, over-equalised carbage cans? And there's DYNAMICS too?!
Sincerely though, sick video. Wish more people made their kits sound this good these days. Herr Lanser is a beast behind the kit, too!
Funny you say this when the cymbals are buried under the mix.
I only read true informations here.
RIP Obscura... this is so good. The new Obscura will be kewl with David Deipold, but still.... Sebastian is a god
people were saying rip obscura when Hannes left too, but all 3 are world class drummers, it will be interesting to see what David brings into the band
Although Sebastian is my prefered drummer in Obscura, David Diepold is a force to be trifle with.
To be honest David is doing amazing in Obscura, he fits in very well and in my opinion A Valediction is one of the best albums they put out
Just the pinnacle of tech/death playing. I love drummers that can play their amazing work note for note.
I really cannot understand the dislikes in this video. This is wonderful drumming.
I love these double kick patterns so much, I want to have a romantic picnic at the sunset with them, tell them I want to get married, buy a house travel beautiful places and want to have little patterns, so I can die old and with a smile
Incredibly well crafted and executed very well. Awesome.....just awesome!
Awesome playing, phenomenal snare sound, thunderous kicks! 🤟🥁
4:09 been waiting to see this played and jesus was that impressive! Also someone forgot their drum key was still on the snare lol!
Matt nah they didn’t usually they leave there in cases the tweaks something before recording or between takes
It's low key the #1 best place to keep your drum key lol perfect fit and I always see it
I didn't know this drum now I became a fan. Congratulations extreme musicality.
Even though I'm a drummer my favorite part was the fretless bass!!!
It seems so simple, but yet so complex all at the same time!!
yeah. it gives it that otherwordly flavour that only a fretless can do
Wait. Isn't that a sad elephant singing along?
@@berkeunal5773 I think ov a clown playing the bass when I hear it. The bass is great but since @craigreynolds said it, I can not unsee it lmao
There is such thing as perfect timing....absolute machine
This is one of the greatest drumvideos i ever seen. This is pure skilll, non of the called youtube drummers are not even close😄. Found this today and im am watching it for the 10th time i think🤩🤩 awesome
It's the one video I've been revisiting the most since it came out three years ago.
He plays so effortless. Perfection
I cant stop watching
Uaaau! Amazing! Sebastian is an incredible drummer!
Gotta love Seb- saw he keeps improving and improving. What a splendid drummer and human being
@1:15 - end of the solo is my favorite section of this song. Super awesome to see the drum video for this one!
Now that's a real drummer! TAMA must be so proud.
Can't believe I missed you all this time
Sick Drummer! The Bass is what stood out more for me. Its kicking... Cheers!
What a great band & great drummer 😍🤘😍🤘😍🤘 out of this world
very nice kit...the best drums
Wow, epic drumming! The drums sounds fantastic too.
Good job Tamma🎉
Excellent playing and excellent drums!! Excellent combination!!
Yup! APPROVED! very nice and made me want to look into this band
ooh i dont man...i dont believe i ve ever seen anything close to that. im speechless!!!!
We need more videos of Seb!!!
I love the sound of the kick
Unfassbar großartig.
Drum sound is absolutely fantastic
Wow! Sebastian is really cool drummer. He plays so tight with precision. I love it.
Brilliant. Beautiful kit.
I get so many vibes from this between Death, Meshuggah, Mudvayne, and a buncha random other shit haha...superbly happy that I just randomly discovered this gem 💎
Hearing a lot of Bobby Jarzombek from this guy. Love it.
What a drumkit!?!? What a sound?!?!? What a drummer!?!?!? Nice
Eu fico abismado com a beleza que é esse cara tocando 😮
Amazing playthrough
Loving that bell brass snare
As a sonor guy im not usually swayed but my god.
Awesome, i really hope one day to see a "Clandestine star" video like that.
It was all amazing but the second half was SICK
So no one's gonna talk about that drum key just casually chilling on his snare?
Lol
Everytime i play drums in repetition or in a gig, i still have my drum key chillin' on my snare drum ! that's a real fact :)
You'll never need to look for one if you've got it there!
Lol, mine just chills in that little hole on top of the bass drum
Dude! That's bad ass. That jams
Amazing playthrough
Great technique! Amazing!
So many great parts to this song but the part tha hits me most is at 3:46. He does the 2 blast beats and goes into that gnarly kick pattern. Perfection!
Delightful. ❤
Fabuleux! creatif, complexe, musical😍😍😍
Amazing drummer ,fantastic Song ❤️
Fantastic!!!!!!!
And damn those drums sound beautiful!
undpredictable drum fills and its all amazing
Nice playing.
Love from Guam!
His foot work is impeccable.
That was awesome.
Just fuckin’ awesome!!!!! More of this drummer pls 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
Sebastian Lanser, Kerim Lechner, David Diepold...
We got some really good drummers 😎
Kerim Lechner out... I prefeer Hannes Grossmann
@@NarMattaru i was making a list of Austrian drummers, but Hannes is a beast!
@@f1chtl
don't forget the most insane one of them all: thomas lang
@@zubiac he is a beast, but a bit of a different genre.
@@f1chtl yeah. you HAVE to check out Lang's drumeo session. He can play EVERYTHING he plays with his hands also with his feet. I kid you not: everything. it's the most jawdropping thing I have ever seen in drumming. Lang is in an own league.
Amazing 👏
First saw you play due to a very cool version of "Take Five", but holy crap.... One of the tightest drummers I know of. Excellent playing, so crisp!
Awesome drum playthrough as always!
Amazing 👏👏👏👏👏👏🎶
I could rave about that kit and his precision all day, but that Mudvayne bass-tone is really ripping my attention away right now 😵
Yeah, I sort of agree with you, but I saw an interview with Steffen Kummerer. He explained that they wanted the bass to stand out more. Like it was a 3rd guitar instead of it just following along with the "rhythm guitars". So, hopefully, if you try to keep that in mind, it will help you maybe change your mind a bit about the bass tone. Though I admit, it could be just a tad bit better.
Christian Baumgartner You might think of Mudvayne when you hear that bass tone however it was used back in the 90’s on one of Deaths later albums. It might have only been on one track.
Except Martinie never used fretless bass in Mudvayne.
@BeardedDanishViking It's the same idea regardless of the specifics. The bass guitar tone Martine used was very similar. And coming from the 90's it's obvious.
I definitely agree with you all, let me just clarify that that tone is absolutely sick, I didn’t mean the comment in any sort of negative way. I’ve always thought it sounded like a chainsaw ripping through water, especially on L.D. 50.
Nice inverted foot patterns 🤘🏼👟👟
Really digging the basic to odd and back to basic time signatures.
A UA-cam recommendation that could not be any Obscura :D
Great. And guitar tones sick.🎖️
Why are Germans so good damn good at drums
Flawless..Bravo….
I would love to see this band live!!!
Sebastian Great drummer!!!
Amazing as always!
David!
This kinda has a Beyond Creation vibe especially the bass guitar riffs. Very good stuff!
Amazing drumming as always !! Amazing technique!!!!
New walnut shells sounding fuckin' awesome 👌, and Sebastian Lanser amazing as always.
toca muy bien amigo te felicito
I've been drumming for 20 years...I just quit after watch this.. absolutely unreal.
what an absolute beast
Incredible and great playing! Not familiar with the band but loved it!
