    Thank you for this video. This video is spot on - there couldn't be an easier or more descriptive way to do this. I ordered the part from Amazon, and had my dead motor removed and replaced from start to finish in about an hour. This video took a lot of the anxiety out of doing a repair like this for a beginner. Thanks again for this informative video.

      What do you call the wires that attached to the motor. The wires on my window are broken. Do I have order the whole master switch or there is the way I can only get wires? Please help....

      I also have a dead motor....with the window "up"..... how did you get to the lower frame/right side bolt that he removed ( in the vid) via the small "hole" in the door...as he lowered the window to get that access? I don't see such access if the window is locked in the "up" position.....anyone ?

    Got tired of only being able to roll up my window a centimeter at a time. Bought a motor off eBay for $23 (part # 47-10009 or 85720-33120). 30 min job for a novice like me - worked perfectly! Thank you for your video!!

    Thank you. Just got my new motor (with regulator attached). Separately - Dorman part cost $195 and some change for just the motor. Together - 96.80 before tax. go figure. I work with mechanics - they stay busy here and outside of work because people are always hitting them up. However, when I say I am going to replace myself, they laugh at me - BUT, they don't offer to do it for me (outside of work - we can't do stuff here for our own except maybe a little air in a tire - and we all obey the rules - honestly - we have great jobs and don't want to mess up!). I am an old lady and I will do it myself as I have done many things on my own. I would have attempted this in my late teens/20s before YT / instructional videos were so widely available. Thank you for making this video. I will attempt - I mean I will DO this over the weekend.

    Good video, but ... you don't need to remove the inside door handle assembly to do this, and you don't need to completely remove the plastic covering. Just detach the lower part of the plastic covering and lift it out of the way of the regulator bolts. The reason for avoiding the inside door handle removal is, it's got a very tricky clip that's really easy to break.
    If you really want to remove that door handle, remember that the clip on the left is the one to be removed first. You cannot go left to right and then lift up with the trim remover, this will break it. Underneath the left clip are two separate bits of plastic. The right bit has the underhook that keeps it latched. So if you push with the trim remover left to right, then lift out, you are actually pushing the hook further in. You have to insert your trim remover under the clip from right to left, and exert right to left pressure as you lift. Very tricky, very easy to break. Once you've removed the right clip, slide right to left and lift the door handle out. But really, just avoid this if you possibly can. Removal of the door handle is not necessary to replace the window motor.
    Overall though the video was accurate and clear. I clicked through your link to get the motor. If you get the chance, post links to rear window motors too.

    My $.02. Window was stuck up so I just cut into door panel enough to get at the 3 20 hex bolts from the inside. This released the motor and then I replaced the other. It was probably quicker, the door is cut up but nobody was going to be getting much resale out of these anyways.

      Coming in late on this discussion.....seems when we do a parts number check, whether factory part or clone....there are separate left and right side parts numbers...as you would expect as the orientation is different. That said.... I THINK left-front I( drivers) is same as right-rear......and right-front is same as left-rear. Think of it as diagonals work the same part.

      So, if the motor is dead you have to actually reach in there with the wrench? Or is there a way to get the window down?

      @@wav177 ...so...are you saying your motor was dead with the window UP ? That's what I'm facing. If so....are you saying I need a special 10mm wrench?...like maybe an angled/swivel head or gear-wrench style? Thanks.

    what if the motor is bad and the window wont move? how do you align the window to get tge hex bolt?

    • @MINUTEDIYVIDEOS
      @MINUTEDIYVIDEOS  7 років тому +2

      Very good question, fortunately for us the motor in the video was failing intermittently, just enough to allow us to get the window down in position. Is your motor completely dead? I would try turning the car on and press the switch to lower the window and at the same time push down on the window to see if you can get it to move down. Let me know if you have any luck with this and I will continue to search for an alternative solution for you!

  • @TheWilferch
    @TheWilferch Рік тому +1

    Lert me "pay it forward". Great video..... but my problem was that the window was UP and the motor was DEAD. How the heck do you get the window lowered so that the little hole lines up with the bottom bracket of the window ( 0:53 - 0:57) ? If you can't do that, you're screwed....I see no way to replace the motor without drilling out some sheet metal in the inner door. I got to the point of the vid where I had arm access to the motor. I got a small metal hammer with my arm through the big hole in the door over the speaker.....felt around to find the motor....and gave the motor a few good solid raps with the hammer. Ta Da !.....got the "dead" motor to come alive at least long enough to get the window lowered so the bottom bolt can be acessed per timeline 0:53 - 0:57...then the rest was easy but tedious. Hope this hint helps others who face the same dead motor issue. Another point......the video presenter wasn't clear, but to remove the electric "plug" from the motor...there is a small tab in the plug on the right side that if you press with a small flat blade srwewdriver.....it releases. Yanking alone won't do it.

    • @TheWilferch
      @TheWilferch Рік тому

      @@MINUTEDIYVIDEOS ..it was a point of desperation.....couldn't figure out how else to get the "Assembly" out and released from the window itself...had to get down to that little "hole" you show for access.....the only way was to at least TRY to get that stupid old motor to work......thanks again. Your vid showed me the rest....clearly the best on YT for this work. Worked really well. Here's another tip I found from Scotty the mechanic here on YT.....shoot some spray silicone down the window channels when the window is down....especially on old cars. Makes the window move more easily and lessens the wear-and-tear on the motor. Cheers.

    Your video is not helpful if the window won't move...because you actually got the motor to move the window just enough to align the 10 mm bolt up to the round cut out area. How is someone to reach and loosen the bolt if they have no power to window? I thought this video was to show folks how to fix if window DOESN'T WORK...obviously yours works a little...so, that doesn't help the rest of us.
