- I show you how to take apart your center console in a Scion xA, or Gen 1 xB. This can be helpful if you want to instal an aftermarket head unit, or paint the trim parts, or anything else you think up that you want to get in there and do.

You will have to remove, the two side trim pieces, and the A/C control knobs and pull that piece out to get to the radio. Then there is four screws holding that in. Did yours disconnect?
If it was that easy I wouldn't be here hassling you ;-) I've already been through both fuse boxes but no joy there. I'm now wondering if perhaps the dimmer switch has failed in open position? I suppose it is off to the shops for a multimeter and a google search for a wiring diagram ...
I need a video for a 2006 Scion Xb. I need to replace the aux outlet. It's located down by the emergency brake handle.
well I only have a scion xA, you could try joining a few scion groups on facebook with xB owners there are a few out there.

yes once this is all apart you can get to the stereo. It will be held in by 4 screws.

yeah maybe something is up with that dimmer switch if its speedo and HVAC lights. I'll do a quick video going over stuff and some options. Not sure on the door auto lock maybe it just came unplugged. I can show you how to get into there as well.

I'm not sure what the aerial is in the car, can you explain more
I just helped a friend install an aftermarket radio in his 05 XA. The factory radio had 3 wire plugs going into the back of it, but the pigtail from Metra only has 2. We hooked it up with just the 2 and it works but the dash lights do not work now. Metras website isnt very helpful, do you know anything that might help?

as far as I know all the lights should be feeding 12volts. You can always grab a multi media and find the extact voltage though.
Thanks for the tips. We have recently aquired a well used 05 XA with aftermarket stereo previously installed and as per 3rd poster down the dash lights do not work. Does anyone have any insight on a potential fix? Possible to simply jumper the related wire on the third pigtail? Cheers

If you want i'll have some time Saturday to shoot a quick video on how to hook up some lights to see if it will work. I added extra leds behind the HVAC and they should turn on when you turn your day time running lights on with the first click.
sorry for the late response.I'm not sure how the radio would effect the dash lights though. It could be a ground wire. maybe try wiring it to a piece of bare metal in the car and see if that works
@Albert3492 Not sure what you mean by the CD Box? I think your talking about the oven, and no you have to remove the oven to get at the light in there to change it, but follow this and it should be no problem removing it
where can i find an armrest for a scion xa
Do you know what size/gauge the led cluster lights should be?
Do you know the amperage/voltage on the light in the hvac box?

no you do not have to disconnect the battery to do this
so your saying that the HVAC lights do not work. The ones that light up the temp, and fan speed and all that? You could have blown a fuse try to check that out. The fuse box is to the left of the steering wheel, kinda near the hood release button.
@NikofGG Well when i got my xA i had the ipod connection already set up for me at the factory. but I do believe you just need to purchase the cord and it should plug into the back of the radio. Your best bet though is to buy a aftermarket radio with ipod controls. I hated the controls on the stock radio for the ipod. Hope this helps some.Also if you get a sec go check out team-ist.net its a website dedicated to xA owners. In japan its just called the /Toyota ist.
Hey man is me again the radio do u have is a 2 din? N do u have to het a separate mount for make the radio fits? Can you make a new Video of your car with a better video resolution?
Hi Russ, that would be great if not a hassle. I honestly was just hoping that the poster below had similar symptoms and a resolution for the fault. I still haven't located a complete wiring schematic online but may buy one if necessary once my multimeter arrives (unless someone can point me to one somewhere?)
To clarify the fault(s) - no speedo or tach cluster lights, no HVAC lights, nor driver door auto lock (via key or switches) - unsure if related yet. Thanks!

is it possible to remove the little vents shown at 2:11 , I want to vinyl wrap the round silver piece but im uncertain how i should go about it
yes once you have that part out they can pop out from behind. let me know if you need anymore help
I had one a long time ago but sold it online. Best bet is to check ebay, or trdsparks . com they have a ton of OEM parts
my dash lights tach cluster light and the ac fan lights just went out on me last night im hoping its just a fuse but i cant to find it anywhere i tried to replace some that i thought may be the issue but nothing.. its a 06 xa pllzz help
By any chance do you know what the radio size is?
i dont exact measurements its just a standard double din radio. I got it from crutchfield dot com. you can input your car on their website and radios that only fit your car will come up. hope this helps

When you look up the part it says A/C HVac assemble. It technically controls that part it's just not the part under the hood. Sorry for the confusion
