I watched Aldnoah.Zero because Sawano did the soundtrack. I’m not a mech anime fan but I must say the anime was underrated. It actually had a good plot and the ending is so not cliché.
If you were into mechs I'd recommend Gundam Unicorn.
It had the best music of its season.

Fun fact: If you're playing Mission 9 in Ace Combat 7 and start the video just after Tabloid tells everyone to gather around you, it should sync up perfectly with Bandog updating your IFF. And if you're decently quick at killing the F/A-18's, it should finish just as Full Band gets killed by Count.

For some reason, I randomly decided to watch Aldonoah Zero for the first time in 2023
I was convinced it's going to suck because a lot of people hating on it
but somehow it ended up being one of my favorite anime even though it wasn't perfect

Inaho might have the most kills, but personally Lt. Marito is my favorite. He had a front row seat to plenty of conflicts in the first war, and was literally on the stage, so to speak, for the heaven’s fall lunar catastrophe.
And experience, experience outranks everything. As can be seen once he overcomes his PTSD.
Me too brother. Marito overcame his fear and back as badass pilot.
Inaho was like destined to beat the martians. Man was calm, collected, calculative and skilled. He almost died, still came back, never got ptsd and ended the war.

I haven't watched aldnoah zero but I found this track half a year ago and whenever I'm not feeling good and feel like I need to vent, this song always helped for some reason. Just putting it on loop for a while
You know what's funny? I searched "keep on keeping on" expecting to find Death Stranding memes, but instead, I found this banger of a song from a show I haven't seen in around 5 years.
I heard this song on Spotify, and the phrasing of the vocals told me right away this had to be the same composer as Attack on Titan.
Kinda got teary eyed when this song played during the scene of Asseylum boarding Deucalion and Edelrittuo saying "Go! Hurry!" and she got left behind UE HQ in Russia. Edelrittuo is the best maidservant ever!

Inaho's left eye has more character development than most of the main cast combined... even Inaho.
The fight scenes were really cool though.
if i'm not mistaken (from watching sub), his left eye has caused adverse impact on his brain... it didn't say explicitly, but it was clearly shown on his doctor and other crew members' facial expression... hence his left eye got removed once the war was over... even the antagonist asked about the left eye patch when visited by inaho at end of season 2... what a terrible price inaho paid for this war... lost his left eye... lost the love of his life... lost significant part of his brain...
@@user-bv2hv1wl7q Those are things that happen to him… but nothing about him as a character is really changed by these events other than that he takes the opportunity to add a tool to his arsenal. Her remains an outwardly cold and calculating tactical coordinator using his knowledge of physics and applying the scientific method to deduce what his opponents capabilities are and improvising a solution with the resources he has at hand while retaining a subtle empathy for people, socially distant awkwardness in the majority of his interactions with other characters resulting in a character that clearly cares to the viewers but struggles with expressing it, and eventually develops romantic feelings for Asseylum. The personality of Inaho we see in the first episodes is almost unchanged compared to his personality in the final episodes. It’s really only his developing feelings for Asseylum that we see him doing things that episode 1 Inaho might otherwise not have done, and even these are fairly subdued to emotional responses characters in other properties typically have during romantic subplots. He is a fairly static character in the grand scheme of things.
Much of the rest of the cast also remains fairly static, with a few notable exceptions… Slaine who heel-turns so hard going into Season 2 that it gave much of the fan base whiplash, and Rayet who goes from loyal Martian, to KILL ALL MARTIANS, to warning the Martian Princess, to trying to assassinate the Martian Princess in the shower, to trying to save the Martian Princess while taking glee in killing Martians, all in season 1, and then Saazbuum’s relationship with Slaine is probably the most dynamic part of the show, even if Slaine’s Season 2 moral Heel-Turn was exceptionally poorly set up and executed.
My suspicion is that the original creators of the IP intended for Inaho to be a little more dynamic, but were afraid that giving him a more dynamic series of emotional responses ran the risk of pushing the suspension of disbelief in applying his mind to what they were planning to do with the fight sequences. There are snippets of an interview from 2015 with one of the creators that hints at this, and seem to suggest that what changes that Inaho experiences in regards to his interactions with and around Asseylum evolved more than they had intended at the start.
So, main point is, things happen to Inaho, but very little CHANGES Inaho… and what little that does get through to him don’t move the needle that much, particularly when it comes to his behavior when Asseylum is not present. His character concept was built in service of the spectacle fights, and for the most part while exporting character development to a few characters from the supporting cast. This allows the spectacle fights to shine exceptionally brightly while allowing ebbs in action to avoid getting boring as well while the writers are effectively able to shelter their key to making the spectacle fights work from being subjected to too much character altering stimuli.
I enjoy the show very much, but even among the steadfast fans, when the summarize or give commentary on the show in response to questions being asked about it, the responses typically range between a hesitation to call it a “good story” or an impulse to recommend it with an asterisk.
@@user-bv2hv1wl7qHe has things happen to him… but aside from getting to know Princess Asseylum, none of it really changes his behavior, response to various stimuli, his world view, or his personal interactions with other characters. The character of Inaho we see in the first episode is almost the same Inaho we see meeting Slaine at the end of the series outside of the physical differences.
One of my favorite anime fight scenes of all time i love that 3d animtion in 2d effect they pulled... This anime shouldve gotten way more episodes than it did

When the music of an anime is the motivating factor for watching it. That for me is Aldnoah.
Aldnoah Zero was a great demonstration of how determined and tenacious humanity can be. Even if some highly-advanced alien force came with overwhelming firepower etc, we would still fight. We would fight until we had nothing left, and even then we would still fight.
The humans, I think, knew they were doomed. Where another race would surrender to despair, the humans fought back with greater strength. They made the Minbari fight for every inch of space. In my life, I have never seen anything like it; They would weep, they would pray, they would say goodbye to their loved ones, and then throw themselves without fear or hesitation at the very face of death itself, never surrendering. No one who saw them fighting against the inevitable could help but be moved to tears by their courage. Their stubborn nobility. When they ran out of ships, they used guns, when they ran out of guns they used knives and sticks and bare hands. They were magnificent. I only hope that when it is my time, I may die with half as much dignity as I saw in their eyes in the end. They did this for two years; they never ran out of courage, but in the end, they ran out of time.

NGL some what discontent with how cliche season 2 follows up the s1 ending and how the series ends in general.
THAT SAID this anime has some of the best music and music to screen relation/choreography and is among the reasons why I often recommend it.

Season 1 did have all of the right elements. Season 2 just felt a little forced
