Everything about this show is top notch. But the ending f4ck everything and made the masterpiece become forgotten. If only Hime wasn’t marry because of political. I’m sure that this anime still gonna explode. Author should make it an open endings or at least an event that won’t be motivate by political. Its will be even better if they made something similar to IBO. Both MC death and Hime move on.
The thing about this fight is that on its own, its nothing special. If you just show this out of context it loses to Bell Cranel vs the minotaur (not mech I know but worth mentioning), many of the fights in actual Gundam anime, many of the fights in Macross Delta (but I fully understand if that one puts you off), and even a lot of the fights earlier in the series. Its what this fight means after you have watched these characters throughout the series that makes it so good. So yes, the crowning moment of Aldnoah Zero is this fight, but not because of anything to do with the fight itself but, as I said, everything in the anime inevitable leads up to this point and its one of the greatest payoffs in any anime I have seen (more than tanikaze vs benisuzume)

I don't agree that there's nothing special about the fight, the fact that it took all the moments throughout the show, mixed them together and portrayed them as the final battle is what makes this special IMO.

An outsider's view of the fight is just 2 combatants becoming equally disabled at the same time in a space duel. None of the experience from the show is demonstrated in this battle. Someone who only saw this fight wouldn't be able to tell that Inaho had fought dozens of one-of-a-kind mechs to get to this point, that Slaine had lied and murdered his way to get here, that the two had once contemplated an alliance for the sake of a girl they both loved. None of that is in this fight. Compare it with the second duel against Count Saazbaum, and the dialogue tells part of the story. It is, without watching anything before, the battle of someone who is nobody, who thought and fought his way up from nothing to defeat one of the most powerful men in the world. He killed people using these abilities and uses that knowledge to outmaneuver his enemy at every turn. Strip out the context, and the battle itself is pretty standard. Compare that, on the other hand, with the battle between Nagate and Benisuzume in S01E12 of Knights of Sidonia (Sidonia no Kishi) Without the prior knowledge of the series, some things make less sense, but it is a more technically impressive battle on both sides.

(But not the plasma thing, that one can be deflected by reactive armor but in a limited time and amount of damages, since it can be only used once. And also big brain Inaho yeeting him on the ocean, wherein a huge built up of concentrated heat from the plasma. Created a massive amount of steam causing it to erupt like a volcano and think of it like water act as a landmine and the dude who stepped on it was the other enemy plasma user)

However, the Analytical engine was there to boost it to new heights and help him process and thus analyse more info than before, thus giving Inaho abilities that, while maybe not on par in some aspects with the Aldnoah-powered mechs, allows him to rival them easier.
I would love to see a anime that actually obeys Newtonian physic's. Where these instant changes in direction would turn the pilots into piles of goo in the cockpit.
I saw in a description somewhere that this doesn't happen to pilots due to a pseudoscience called "Inertial Dampening" in which the intention is to "take away" inertial effects; i.e., when accelerating, you are not pressed back into your seat (or liquefied and wedged into your seat). For the most part, it's an invisible seatbelt substitute for crew and cargo. This doesn't just apply to Aldnoah pilots, but other mech anime that try to apply some degree of Physics as well. (example: Gundam).
Something like that did happen in Macross Plus, though it was mostly as a result of the pilot moving even faster than something that already is beyond lethal irl. Best part being that this pilot did this to outmanuver an AI which logically can resist more Gs than any person.
It means that he expects Inaho to kill him and he's telling him he accepts the outcome. It's one of the things that gave Slaine pause and allowed him to think about how to save Asseylum by sparing Saazbaum. There's a parallel because Inaho thinks about what to do too.

i absolutely agree with you, the mc was just too much for me and i found myself 2× all his personal moments it was just yknow so annoying hearing him with the way he is, i really did prefer some nicer ending for slaine but unfortunately it wasnt to be
I still get hype even trough all the notifications and the mouse in the picture and despite knowing that this show is seriously flawed and needs a remake. Maybe I'll cut together a cut version in one movie, that makes more sense and doesn't have that huge heap of slow or non-sensical content.
Funny, because I thought the show felt a bit too fast or forced, like they've bombarded every episode with lots of information from the previous happenings before the show, which makes it harder to follow. In fact I thought the filler moments helped make the show a bit slower so that we can all take a break from everything that happened on the episode and take a moment to understand the whole plot.
There is no way Tharsis would have lost a fight against a human mass production obsolete kataphrakt with same skill pilots, I mean look at that human mech, it's so fucking big it should be way slower than Tharsis, in fact all human mechs should be way slower, I mean they're made of scrap compared to martian kataphrakts... During all the anime martians lose cause they act so fucking stupid without even knowing their own kataphrakt weaknesses, but Slaine is different, he was a top tier pilot on a top tier mech, only reason he lost is due to the plot armor of Inaho.
Slaine lost because of inaho not any plot armor his skill as a pilot and tactican was displayed from episode 1 inko could never surpass him in class ....he killed trill ram by designing a trap for a weapon he had never encountered before only based on theory and his knowledge of science ....yeah he has that left eye that analyzes data but that doesn't do much slaine lost because he gave up on his future

通常装備で両足に２つだったスラスターが最終決戦仕様で両肩にもついたから動きがバケモノになってんのすごい。
腕についてた展開式の柄とか、ブレードと鞘はちゃんと量産されてたんだろうか...超接近戦じゃないと使えないし、地球軍の兵士の人で使ってる人は少なさそう。
スラスターとか鞘を追加で装備するためのパイロンが存在したのも地味にすごい。
アレイオンとスレイプニールって装甲の厚さと足の安定翼ぐらいしか違いないから、宇宙用のユニットとか規格統一されてて使い回しできるんだろうな...
