These men started what is now the most elite group of soldiers in the world, that is something very special. True heroes, so brave.
They're elite, I'll give you that
Yep best of the best
I've read a lot over the years about Mike Sadler's prodigious talent of navigating in the desert. For me he certainly was a legend in his own lifetime. RIP Mike Sadler.
The greatest generation that ever lived in modern times. Salute to you all.
RIP MIke, Heaven now has a legend to take care of
The Man could find a needle in a desert literally! A real hero God bless his soul.
Having tried to navigate in the desert ... my admiration is beyond praise ..god rest you Mike
👍Mike Sadler is a real favourite since I learned about the original SAS!
The kit available to the modern soldier is amazing. Satnav, GPS, starlink, drones, etc. These people had compasses and maps the RAC would be ashamed of. Not mocking the modern SAS for a second, they top shelf everyone, but the ability to accomplish so much with so little is breathtaking.
No praise could be high enough for these men.
RIP Mike. Brilliant soldier.
God Bless Mike im sure you knew exactly where you were heading at the end...
Many thanks to all special forces members past and present.
Rest in peace Mike.
Navigation is everything……
Are there any of these men left? My grandad was in the Royal marines commando in ww2. His lifelong best friend was glider infantry. My other grandad was in the desert then Italy his brother was killed on lancasters and he had another brother in Burma.its heartbreaking that these guys are passing on. Soon we will witness the last one go as we did when Harry patch the last ww1 Tommy passed away.
The man in the video was the last of the original members of the sas that was formed in ww2 to pass away there are sadly no more living sas veterans from ww2
@@vs_vulcan that's very sad. I thought there were one or 2 left who although not having been there from the desert had served in western Europe or Italy. Unfortunately before too long we will have no second world war vetrans alive. I remember the last ww1 man (Harry patch) passing. Unfortunately time waits for no man.
Its an odd thing you can bring a group of men together and train them and every group has a personality who can navigate better then anyone else I always found it was the man who was hopeless at drill and normally quite man but give them a map and compass and the were a dam good solider i never met Mike but i did meet a lot of mikes in my time RIP Mike what a life and thank you my you navigate your way to peace in the here after
Top man
Rest in peace Mike. God bless you
What a coincidence. I've just finished (yesterday) the book "The Phantom Major", first published 1958, newish edition, where the SAS founding and desert campaign is described - including the incident of Mike Sadler's capture and escape.
Men of adventure, fantastic
Amazing men.
Really beautiful, thanks
Rip Mike an incredible man
A fitting tribute to the self-deprecating "passable navigator" that was Mike Sadler. We owe him an awful lot.
Best of British BUT, the top generals wanted to close them down!
Baruch dayan ha emet. - and respekt.
😢 sad I guess I can not be in said army but life moves on for my gen of people 1990 I need to move to find work I guess people don't know me but I will move get out of UK one day to find work
When Men were Men and Britain 🇬🇧 was Great
Not like the Hero's of today Football players and Tik Tok Chaves ..Yuk
Couldn't agree more
Now , we have nobody's trying to be a somebody by not doing anything REMOTELY worthwhile
Mike’s teaching God geography now, RIP
🇬🇧 ✌
Sandy bottoms 🍻
Sorry but this man is so disrespectful and narrow minded to think that no other person other than the original SAS guys can be legends.
The op tempo for SF on Op Telic and Herrick is arguably unmatched in British wartime history.
Clearly not what he meant.
@@Oligodendrocyte139 Wrong. These men originated all this.
