  • Walleye fishing at night is one of my favorite things to do! If you've never done it you absolutely need to give it a try, and in THIS VIDEO I will teach you HOW TO DO IT! Depending on the CONDITIONS, sight fishing can be a lot of fun and can produce some BIG fish like you're about to see! Huge THANK YOU to MY KIDS because I wanted to go to a different lake on this night, but they begged me to go where they wanted. I love my kids so I gave in to their wishes, and I was rewarded with one of the biggest inland water walleye I have caught in a long time! STAY TUNED, because I catch an even BIGGER ONE a couple nights later!!! Thanks for watching you guys and PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!

    Ya'll be careful out there. Night shore fishing around my lakes gets sketchy. Thanks for the tips, I've caught a 5 limit of pre-spawn walleye from the bank. 2 fish were 5+lbs. It's not readily available to get limited from the bank.

    I used to do this in the Fall on a local lake. I would wade along the shoreline in front of private property, always keeping my feet wet. Almost never saw anyone else. Never caught any giants, but many in the 20-23 in range, and a few bigger up to 25.5". I used husky jerks and some small swimbaits. Water was very clear and the fish were in 2-4 fow.

      I do the same thing. Lots of fun. Almost never see another person but even when u do, if ur in the water its all good! I've had a few people shocked/scared once they realize there's a man standing in the water in the dark in the middle of fall 😂

    Weve been fishing like this for the past few years, your the only one that ever posted about it as far a I can tell. The process of finding the tecnique/lights/lures/action and conditions was a lot if fun. We caught them on everything from earie dearys, harness, stickbaits, crainks, plastics, live bait. Rifgt now Its Dec 6 in Oakland co Michigan, no wind, big moon, were headed out. I wanted to get you to try something. sometimes you see a fish follow right to the boat, then your lure is coming up, fish is down but interested, cant cast to it anymore and get yoour bait down. Do this, shove the rod deep in the water and do figure 8s. They will hit it. crazy.
    I use only Xrap, by buddy only uses twister tails. Most night twisters do a little better but the Xraps get bigger average. We use super bright ights to spot then shut them off.

      I figure 8 em all the time! 🤣🤙I do it in the next vid I'm posting haha. And sometimes I literally jam my rod into the water just like u said lol it works! So much fun. I might actually go out tonight too! Good luck man and thanks for the comment! 👊👊

      And yeah I agree, I've never seen anyone else post a vid on this / teach the technique 🤷‍♂️ lol just thought I'd share to help out other anglers! 🤙

    Casting on top doesnt necessarily scare them, that mimics a fish that dropped from a bird, that’s why you should mimic a retreating and dying fish with your bait after the cast, I usually real hard for 5 seconds then pause, rinse and repeat lol

      @justkeepcasting  6 місяців тому +1

      Generally yes, but in late fall - after dark - with water temps under 45 degrees, not too many birds flying at night lol. Walleye will still hit topwater in those conditions but it's very rare that time of year (I've had it happen a few times over the years). As said in the vid, in my experience over the years when sight fishing walleye at night in shallow and crystal clear water, 9 times out of 10 they are gonna spook immediately 🤷‍♂️ but sometimes u get l lucky with a dumb one and it doesn't haha. I like the dumb ones, especially if they're big! Thanks for input. I get the logic 👍

    Crazy I just happened to buy an identical pink bait for walleye. The owner of the shop laughed and said Goodluck catching anything with that

    I started night walleye fishing last fall. I have similar conditions as you, super clear water, but I'm fishing a high current river and eddies. I'll give those hard baits a shot this spring, as I have only used swimbaits.

    • @justkeepcasting
      @justkeepcasting  2 роки тому +1

      Do it! Jerkbaits are killer, especially in the fall at night! Remember to do long pauses 👊😉

    I was out fishing in this very clear water river. No luck fish until dark. Right when i was about to leave i flash my headlight into the water and i saw glow reflecting eyes. And i knew it was walleyes. I left my headlight on and cast and guess what i saw the glowing eyes move fast and hit my bait. Me and my son actually stay later than we thought walking those shoreline looking for glowing eyes.

    You have really developed a specialized fishing method.
    That first fish looks so emancipated. How can those fish grow and survive? What is the forage base in that water?

    • @justkeepcasting
      @justkeepcasting  7 місяців тому

      That fish was likely an older male. They usually have big heads and slender bodies. This lake has a lot of forage and a big variety. It seriously has almost everything. 90 % of the fish caught in that lake are heavy / healthy.

      I typed emaciated, but the auto correct changed it. Very interesting theory about age and getting thinner. Glad others are chunky.

    • @justkeepcasting
      @justkeepcasting  7 місяців тому

      @@swampwhiteoak1 yeah, very common for big males to have big heads and skinny bodies lol whenever they hit like 24+ inches they start to get uglier 🤣 still fun. But the big females are almost always heavy. Even if they hit 30 inches. Those are the ones u hope to run into!!
