I finally found you. I followed you a number of years ago when you did a video of your liquid soap. So amazing. But I didn't write down the receipe. I have two friends asking me all the time for the origonal but my recipe is off. Could you post it again please. You were my original go to ... I'm so happy to find this video and you again. Love your presentations. Thank you, regards Deirdre from Ireland.
Hey Deirdre, So glad to know you loved the video. It's a really old video of mine so I have privated it, but I made it unlisted so you can watch it through this link only. So save this link ua-cam.com/video/Z0yBiTjsYdk/v-deo.html Also, here is a link to the recipe I followed nwedible.com/how-to-make-diy-liquid-castile-soap/
I make these shampoo bars, I haven't given away and sold 20-30 bars to friends and relatives, and everyone loves these. Most people say they don't need to use conditioner anymore. And this is the only shampoo they use. I personally love them. My next shampoo bar is going to be your thin/fine hair bar. I don't have the Volumizing Complex, so I am going to try Kerarepair instead. Truly enjoy your videos. Thank You
Greatly explained and learned a new topic about shampoo bars really got an great idea what are the phases were going and what kind of ingredients to use amazing video❤
Hi Tara, love your content!! Is it possible to do a video on adding colour to your shower gels and what types are best for what products eg powdered colours, liquid dyes etc and how do you prevent separation as well as the colour from slowly fading. xxx
Hey, I have a similar recipe, but I also have castor oil & walnut oil in mine for added hair benefits. Love the green & you been brave about a shower scene.
Hi Tara, I also learned cosmetic chemistry (in Europe)....I learned that cationic emulsifiers (BTMS) are usually not compatible with anionic substances (like stearic acid). BTMS is positively charged, and stearic acid is negatively charged. With BTMS would be better to use a non-ionic emulsifier, like cetearyl alcohol. Is this case an exception, or why did you choose stearic acid instead of a non-ionic emuls. ? Greetings from Germany
Amazing, thanks for the video, you're so kind Tara. Oya, I've got question, can we subtitude DLS with cocoamidopropyl betaine? Becouse DLS is expensive in my country
How did you figure out your recipe , the amount of the ingredients. I have a few things that you have and I have some you don’t have. I’m trying to figure out how to formulate a recipe. Thank you 🙏 honey
honestly! I would love to make one for blonde hair, but I really don't know how to go about formulating one. I personally use a purple shampoo each time I wash my hair, then I follow with a "normal" shampoo. I only wash my hair once a week and I noticed purple shampoo doesn't cleanse as wel as a "normal" shampoo. As soon as I learn how to formulate a purple shampoo, I will share it with you all :)
Hey! thanks for the tutorials. im kind of new in formulation, my shampoo bar formulation using vege oils, emulsifier, and only using SCI as powder surfactant. and if you dont mind, just Two questions are these all ingredients alredy included emulsifier? or doesnt have to?. And second, can i use cetyl alcohol instead of stearic acid ?
Lye makes soap. So when using lye you are technically making soap which has a very high ph which can be harsh on the hair. Buy using surfactants you can have a low ph which is better for hair. You can also incorporate any ingredients that may be sensitive to high ph levels.
Will this shampoo work for someone who has really oily hair? I’m having a hard time finding a shampoo that works for my sons oily hair. Thank you Henrietta
I have a question. You said that the btms 50 acted as a surfactant in this shampoo bar recipe. I use it as an emulsifier in my creams. Was that a mistake? Did you mean to say emulsifier or is it a co surfactant in this formula? I’m learning and my next project is shampoo bars that add shine to oily hair. Thank you for everything you do 💞
I can use V B5 it's the same like dl panthenol can u add something else like rosemary chamomile 🤓🙄🙄 I will go to u web .. soon 🤓🤓🤓😍😍🇺🇸🇺🇸🍷🍷👍👍thanks slot
Thank you for this fabulous formulation! I have read conflicting reports of sodium lactate in shampoo bars; some say it helps to harden, while others say it attracts moisture and makes for a soft shampoo bar. Anyone want to weigh in on this? Thanks!!
Hey, i was just watching your surfactant video and you mentioned not to mix cationic and anionic because of the opposite charges but in this one you are essentially doing it. Can you help me understand why in this formulation it doesn’t matter? Thanks and love your videos! 😇
Totally understand why it’s confusing. I’ll explain 😊 Since this is a solid rather than a liquid there isn’t an opportunity for the cationic and anionic to destabilize the product.
What’s a good substitution for the vegeKeratin? Or can I just leave it out? And if I leave it out do I increase the amount of another product? Thank you for your time!
You probably dont give a shit but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream all the new movies on InstaFlixxer. I've been binge watching with my girlfriend recently :)
Hi Tara, if I use SCI noodles instead of SCI powder, will it affect the texture / hardness of the shampoo bar? SCI powder is not available in my country.
You are amazing. Thank you very much. Do you know what the pH on this thing shampoo bar is? Also, could I add other nourishing oils to make this shampoo/conditioner and perhaps to be used on the body as well? Also, could I use Leucidal sf complete? Thank you very much.
awwwh thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the video. The ph is roughly around 5.5 - 6.5 I will do a video soon on how to take the ph of shampoo bars :) You could definitely add some oils to it, but you will probably have to subtract from the liquid ingredients since adding to many liquid ingredients may make it to sticky to press into molds. Also you could use leucidal sf complete.
Thank you for the video! However I don't really understand why there are so many surfactants, I make solid shampoos and mine only have sci (+ some sort of clay) and cleans well, do we really need all those products?
No, you definitely don’t need all these other ingredients. You can make a very minimal shampoo bar like you do, but adding all the other extra ingredients add other lovely benefits. As I mentioned in the video the lovely benefits of dL panthenol and vegekeratin. Also the different surfactants are used to add different benefits as well. SLSa is great to add for oily hair and the DLS service as a liquid base and is also beneficial to oily hair.
Yes I do test the ph as well. I’ll do a video soon on how to test/lower the ph of shampoo bars. I’ll probably share a minimal shampoo bar recipe as well.
TaraLee, I’ve been researching solid shampoo bars. I make and sell handcrafted soaps and other products. I’ve had lots of customers ask about shampoo bars, so I wanted to try making some. I want something basic right now, because I have only the ingredients I use for soaps and such. Plus SCI powder and noodles, SLSa and BTMS. Can a make a basic shampoo with those ingredients(also have stearic acid and a preservative)?
Hi there! Two questions if you don’t mind...could you use the SCI noodles instead of the powder and would you use the same amount. And second, could you use coco betaine instead of the DLS at the same amount? These are the ingredients I have on hand and would love to try this recipe. Thank you for all of your inspiration! Love your channel!

Hi Tara, love your content!! Is it possible to do a video on adding colour to your shower gels and what types are best for what products eg powdered colours, liquid dyes etc and how do you prevent separation as well as the colour from slowly fading. xxx
I use mica powder to color all my products. But I'll be sure to implement it into one of my videos for you soon :)
@@TaraLeee thanks hun! can't wait! xxx
these look amazing!!
glad you think so :)
I love the color you picked!👏🏽👏🏽

thank you so much!
TaraLee I will email you %’s - we chatted before
I would be very interested in your amounts as well
I have normal to dry hair. Color treated medium curl to wavy frizzy.
Can you please make a conditioning shampoo bar for dry course hair. Thank you.
wow I love this!! I also love that color
thanks so much! Glad you like :)
Can you do a shampoo and conditioner for ALL hair types and conditions
Great idea! I have some ideas in mind already 😉

You are right. Cationic and anionic can't be used together since they are +ve & -ve. I would increase SLSA instead of BTMS
LOVE your content ❤️❤️
awwh, thank you so much! That means a lot to me
Thanks for this recipe ❤️💕
definitely need to try this!🤩
Do you have a shampoo bar for normal to dry hair? I love your video’s, they are so informative!😘
Too much chemicals! You can make shampoo bars with glycerin and natural oils.
@@toofastforyall8590 Wow. Can you elaborate how can you make a shampoo with just glycerine and oils? Thanks!
Great recipe! Thanks for sharing :D
can you do one for dry hair
How much it's shelf life??
Thankyou so much for sharing this recipe.. 😍 can u make for dandruff shampoo? Thanks before❤️
I use shampoo bars always. Mine is made with SCI powder and noodles. I'd like to see your ideas for dry hair.
Do you think it performs the same if made with just the noodles? Is there a major difference?
It looks so nice ❤️

Please make one for African American hair
THANK YOU! this video and your knowledge sharing is amazing. I was wondering if I could use BTMS 25 instead of the 50 one. thanks Tara :)
Can we just bake them to loose moisture ?
I was wondering if you can please make another liquid shampoo video, that would be greatly appreciated.
I definitely will. hopefully soon I'll get one posted. What hair type would you like it formulated for?
Dry-normal hair types. Looking forward to the video, thank you so much.

I would skip the green mica
Yup, it’s not needed to make the shampoo bar work. It is just for aesthetic.
Thanks alot for this recipe! What is the concentration percentage of SCI in the SCI package you've used in this video?
Hey Tara. Do you know any natural colouring agents to replace mica
Does this shampoo bar offer any conditioning too? (I know that stearic acid provides some conditioning so guessing you might answer yes?)

At list 4 to5 days after that you can use it
Can you formulate some specific shampoo and conditioner bars recipes for me? Are they on your patrion page?
What can I substitute if I can't get Veggie Kelatin?
Hi can you give me a formula that commercial grade soap(bathing bar)
Have you tried luecidal complete as a preservative for shampoo bars?
Hi Tara, if I use SCI noodles instead of SCI powder, will it affect the texture / hardness of the shampoo bar? SCI powder is not available in my country.
I thought you couldn’t use cationic with anionic ?
Since this is a solid product they don’t end up effecting one another 😊

Can you use the chunk Sci instead of fine granular since it is out of stock
Can we use a square mold?
