    I finally found you. I followed you a number of years ago when you did a video of your liquid soap. So amazing. But I didn't write down the receipe. I have two friends asking me all the time for the origonal but my recipe is off. Could you post it again please.
    You were my original go to ... I'm so happy to find this video and you again. Love your presentations. Thank you, regards Deirdre from Ireland.

    I make these shampoo bars, I haven't given away and sold 20-30 bars to friends and relatives, and everyone loves these. Most people say they don't need to use conditioner anymore. And this is the only shampoo they use. I personally love them. My next shampoo bar is going to be your thin/fine hair bar. I don't have the Volumizing Complex, so I am going to try Kerarepair instead. Truly enjoy your videos. Thank You

    Hi Tara, I also learned cosmetic chemistry (in Europe)....I learned that cationic emulsifiers (BTMS) are usually not compatible with anionic substances (like stearic acid). BTMS is positively charged, and stearic acid is negatively charged. With BTMS would be better to use a non-ionic emulsifier, like cetearyl alcohol. Is this case an exception, or why did you choose stearic acid instead of a non-ionic emuls. ? Greetings from Germany

    • @pemachoden5624
      @pemachoden5624 2 роки тому

      You are right. Cationic and anionic can't be used together since they are +ve & -ve. I would increase SLSA instead of BTMS

    • @TaraLeee
      @TaraLeee  4 роки тому

      honestly! I would love to make one for blonde hair, but I really don't know how to go about formulating one. I personally use a purple shampoo each time I wash my hair, then I follow with a "normal" shampoo. I only wash my hair once a week and I noticed purple shampoo doesn't cleanse as wel as a "normal" shampoo.

    What are the advantages using this method instead of lye?

    • @TaraLeee
      @TaraLeee  4 роки тому +4

      Lye makes soap. So when using lye you are technically making soap which has a very high ph which can be harsh on the hair. Buy using surfactants you can have a low ph which is better for hair. You can also incorporate any ingredients that may be sensitive to high ph levels.

    I have a question. You said that the btms 50 acted as a surfactant in this shampoo bar recipe. I use it as an emulsifier in my creams. Was that a mistake? Did you mean to say emulsifier or is it a co surfactant in this formula? I’m learning and my next project is shampoo bars that add shine to oily hair. Thank you for everything you do 💞

    • @TaraLeee

      You could definitely add some oils to it, but you will probably have to subtract from the liquid ingredients since adding to many liquid ingredients may make it to sticky to press into molds. Also you could use leucidal sf complete.

      No, you definitely don’t need all these other ingredients. You can make a very minimal shampoo bar like you do, but adding all the other extra ingredients add other lovely benefits. As I mentioned in the video the lovely benefits of dL panthenol and vegekeratin. Also the different surfactants are used to add different benefits as well. SLSa is great to add for oily hair and the DLS service as a liquid base and is also beneficial to oily hair.

    Hi there! Two questions if you don’t mind...could you use the SCI noodles instead of the powder and would you use the same amount. And second, could you use coco betaine instead of the DLS at the same amount? These are the ingredients I have on hand and would love to try this recipe. Thank you for all of your inspiration! Love your channel!

      You can definitely use the SCI noodles instead at the same percentage. & the coco betaine is fine to use instead of DLS too.

      Also, I would love to see a formula that you come up with for coarse, dry, frizzy hair.

    This video has such chaotic energy, like you’ve got the cute text and background, but wearing black gloves, face mask and handling dangerous chemicals, I can’t even explain it.

    I have oily roots and dry ends with henna treated hair. I am also dealing with a little hair loss, so I think making hair care products that involve Ayurveda would be beneficial for many. Research Ayurvedic hair care on YT and you will come across Curly Proverbs and many others that know a lot about this hair care regimen. Thanks.

      I will definitely do some research on Ayurveda. I've never heard of it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention :)
      Also, thanks so much for watching!

    I've been making my own products for a couple years now, and I love your channel. *But**, you almost always use at least a couple ingredients that I would never use again that would waste my 💰, and I don't have much to begin with. I have a pretty decent selection of ingredients, but almost 100% of the time, there are things in there that I'll never use again. It's frustrating. Good info though. I appreciate that.

      interesting, I didn't have that problem. Although my hair always turns brassy overtime since I'm bleach blonde and have well water. lol so maybe I just didn't notice. sorry it turned your hair brassy though. Hopefully it wasn't to hard for you to fix.

    I was excited until I realized these are full of chemicals. Do you have a natural shampoo bar recipe?

    • @TaraLeee
      @TaraLeee  4 роки тому +5

      if you want to make shampoo bars from oils watch this video here - ua-cam.com/video/YiONSP4lqd4/v-deo.html
      also all these ingredients I used in this video are considered safe or natural. everything is a chemical, even water. I think you mean harmful ingredients and non of these ingredients are harmful what so ever.
