      Too right. People need to realise that even if he was wearing gear, which he isn't, that the deadlift gear gives you nothing remotely like the help it gives you in the squat and bench.

    • @Burog1
      @Burog1 9 років тому +11

      +James Balboa not really for deadlifts it all depends on your build not height.

    • @Burog1
      @Burog1 9 років тому +10

      +James Balboa ROM isn't much of a problem when your given good dead lifting levers as when you taller bigger hands , longer arms, longer bigger back. Which is y people like George leeman and strongman like Eddie hall or Benedict Magnusson are 6+ but have incredible deadlifts.

  • @ImaWreckU

    9 years later I'm still watching this shit. That guy right there is a motherfucking monster. Seems you have calmed down considerably since this point which is understandable but whew lord this version of you is what people need to see when they ask 'What is powerlifting?'. Right here. You and George Leeman around this same time frame embodied this shit.

    I checked your previous PR of 860lbs in January after watching this vid. Impressive to say the least how your form is all tight and mechanic. Everything done exactly the same way, every single rep. Even the song that plays during both PR attempts is the same. Pretty fascinating what pure hard work and time put into the gym can achieve when you 've literally mastered your technique.

    900 lbs NO STRAPS WTF???
    He must have incredible forearm strength to even grip the bar

    • @chahal_s
      @chahal_s 9 років тому +8

      medved no.

    • @chahal_s
      @chahal_s 9 років тому +8

      medved 545. Your comment is wrong. Alternate grip does not equal same gripping strenth as straps. If you actually lifted over 135lbs you would know.

    • @Karanar
      @Karanar 9 років тому

      medved alternate grip is better, but grip strength is almost always a problem when people are lifting more than 900lbs. Hook grip is even better than alternate, but it hurts more, so most people don't use it.
      But you find people failing with grip at every competition.

    • @Karanar
      @Karanar 9 років тому +9

      medved no, straps provide a lot more help, and I mean A LOT more. If you don't know this, then you don't do heavy deadlifts. With straps I come close to have infinite grip strength. I have never even been close to slipping using straps, but with alternate grip I can hold maybe 250kg and 300kg using hook grip. Now this is high rack pulls and far above my real deadlift, but it kinda illustrates the point.

    • @badoodis
      @badoodis 9 років тому +2

      staslig I think he means using straps weakens your grip strength, which it does. Although if your grip strength isnt there and you can deadlift more than your hands will hold it will help to use straps.

      Are you blind? That's clearly a 1 piece lifting singlet. Same singlet I wore in both of my most recent competitions. Belts, Knee sleeves. Knee wraps and Wrist wraps are allowed in a lot of federations for the Raw division.

      Bros...fuck all of you it was a statement I made that Eric clarified. The damn singlet resembled a lifting suit in the bottom portion. I'm not an idiot, and I probably rival our surpass you guys in IQ. Plus, it is not you people lifting! He is a monster and should be lifting this much anyway, which is what struck my questioning of possible help.

    Could you say what bulking cycle gear you use or are you not supposed to talk about that? I'd be interested in knowing to see if I am on the right track myself.

    • @ThaVanillaGorilla13
      @ThaVanillaGorilla13 10 років тому +2

      Proly a dose of Vitamin T that one would use for their first cycle and maybe an oral. It's more about technique when it comes to powerlifting. The gears are just to speed up recovery so u can train harder.

    Hi Eric ! Awesome lifts ! Hope to do 600lbs in my 60’s. How iften do you do heavy deadlifts please ? And do the heavy squat /DL /Bench days effect your other lifts baselines ? What are your baseline (must-do bad day) lifts ? Thanks

    Wow!!! What do you attribute this massive PR to?

    • @EricLilliebridge
      @EricLilliebridge  10 років тому +3

      I didn't Squat or Deadlift heavy at all since my meet. I basically de loaded for almost 3 weeks. I just recovered and got stronger after my meet. I knew after my meet that if I tried a new PR Deadlift 100% fresh and recovered, I'd be able to pull a big PR in the gym. I had 400kg (881lbs) on my mind to try, but then I decided why not just try 900lbs? Never know until you try!

    how does 500-600-700 feel in your hand? Does it feel like it is nothing, just asking since it is a pretty big weight, with lot of pulling and compressive effect on tendon/bone and just curious.
