    Steven, this was amazingly instructional as usual. I learned a couple of things again that I hadn't considered before.
    I have a couple of asks.
    Can you recommend a range of books on the subject of architecture that you think architecture and/or city/landscape photographers should have on their bookshelf? Not necessarily instructional books on photography, but artist monographs or architecture textbooks and such? You reference a lot of classical art for example, so I am wondering what else I should be looking at for input/reference.
    Have you thought about reviewing reader submissions on your channel to illustrate the concepts you talk about?
    Thank you!!

      Thank you for your note.
      Here is a video with some of the books I think are very important for someone wishing to inform their architectural photography:
      ua-cam.com/video/2QZ52IjvvKs/v-deo.html
      In addition, I have an Appendix in my e-book, "Architectural Photography and Composition", that lists artists who deserve a lifetime of study. If you are not in a city with a great museum where you can see these works in person, the next best thing is to explore online. Many of these museums have digitized their works and they are available for viewing at relatively high resolution.
      Yes, I have thought about reviewing submissions but haven't yet asked for them. This is something for the future.

    I found a copy of your Deco Delights book you shot the photography for. Are those buildings still around? I love that style. If they are, I may have to take a trip to Miami.

    • @stevenbrookephotography
      @stevenbrookephotography  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes, they still do exist, but are quite different than they were at the time I photographed them. The neighborhood, in general, is significantly more commercialized. The ultra-hip, fashion-forward, high-style environment envisioned by Barbara Capitman, Leonard Horowitz, and others like me who helped preserve the District is regrettably a distant memory. The intrepid warriors at the Miami Design Preservation League still fight almost daily battles to preserve the buildings, now under siege from those who claim the rising tides will make them unsafe for occupancy. Is it still worth the trip? Yes, by all means. The deco apartments west of Ocean Drive are still architectural jewels worth visiting - sooner, not later.

      @@stevenbrookephotography that's very sad to hear they are fading away. I've seen interesting buildings and design undone for rectangles with big chain stores that all look the same no matter where or what state they are situated. Everything is big box now, or heading towards it. Those were such amazing, beautiful designs I saw in your book.

    • @stevenbrookephotography

      Chris: If you are referring to my "Six Shapes for Architectural Photography", then I have not made an additional video to discuss other shapes. Certainly, there are many compositional schemes that are useful for architectural photography, but I believe these six 'shapes' cover the basic situations that one would face in the field. That said, I will give it some more thought.
