Hey guys, I wanted to address this as it has been bought up in the comments several times regarding the difficulty, and I agree…the settings here were too easy. This wasn’t my intention.
As a new player, I wanted a solid “Project Zomboid” experience, but not so difficult that I could not learn the game's mechanics.
As I am sure you are all aware, there were no traditional difficulty settings. On first impression, Apocalypse sounded like murder, Survival slightly less so, and Builder sounded too easy.
In the end, I selected “Custom Game,” left everything on default, changed rear vulnerability to low, and checked weapon multi-hit. I chose these as they were recommended by a Reddit post and jumped in.
On a positive note, this playthrough taught me a great deal about game mechanics. Rest assured, I will be doing another playthrough where I increase the zombie count substantially.
On the negative side, some of this was a little disappointing. Especially when the house alarm went off, and literally one zombie came over. Or when I barricaded both my bases and never needed it once…*mental note* the default custom game settings are far too easy.
Thanks for all the positive comments and advice thus far!

Hey, veteran of 500 hours here,
    1. You can use the trunk of the car to damage zombies. It breaks the trunk however.
    2. I always use the loot run if I spawn in rosewood -
Garages (Anywhere) Pick up hammer and screwdriver - Fire Station Pick up jacket and trousers and an axe - Police Station Dissasemble armory doors and profit.
    3. Never put a generator or a barbecue indoors.
    4. Don't pick fights!
    5. If you are too hot, take off your spawn clothes (Socks, tank top)
    6. You can tow a car if you put it behind your car.
    7. Cabbages are the best food. Always grow em.
You did really, really well for your first two playthroughs. Seriously. Most new players die within a day xD.

    • @agustinpavon8531
      @agustinpavon8531 Рік тому

BBQ does not make damage to the player if u use them indoors, also it doesn't spread fire. BBQs are a good option for cooking without an oven, given that it consumes any type of wood, including scraps, or charcoal. Aside from that, don't use campfires inside, they spread fire in wooden floors. I don't remember if they harm you when indoors usage, but given that even u can catch fire from it, I personally don't recommend using it.

The thing I love about this game is that while it is very difficult, every time you die its always because of something you did. I like how you approached the game you did sandbox because that's a common mistake for new players. They either jump in at survivor get killed by a muncher gets frustrated rage quits and complains the game is hard. The game doesn't intentionally kill you, it just stacks the odds against you, but it's never unfair if anything Project Zomboid encourages you to think twice of what you're doing next. It's not minecraft spawn in punch tree mine coal and get iron armor and food. In Project Zomboid its pretty realistic in a sense of what would a regular schmuck do in a zombie apocalypse? And yes the attention in detail of this game is outright bonkers at times, I am happy to see new players try this game out. "This is how you died" that's one truth the game tells you anyway cause you gon die :)

You did amazing for your first couple of runs! It took me at least a week to get somewhat competent at the game. Some tips for the game, you can hotkey weapons to 1, 2, 3, etc... by clicking on them in your inventory and selecting "put on back", or "put in holster". If you put a flashlight on your belt you can even have in turned on without needing to hold it. Another tip for barricading your base, always barricade on the outside of your windows instead of the inside because it is easier to rebuild a barricade instead of replacing your window. I also recommend that, in the setting you can turn "hit outline" or something like that to always be on sinsted of set to just firearms. This will help you tell which zombie you are aiming at or trying to shove. I hope you enjoy the wonderful game that is zomboid!

great narration. i think you'll end up really liking this game. also, pro tip: space your crops out. dont plant em next to each other. this will prevent disease from spreading and completely destroying the rest of your crops.
another pro tip: plumbing. build a water barrel 1 floor above and 1 tile adjacent to the sink below. its important that its not built directly above the sink. then you need a pipe wrench and water in the barrel. right click the sink and choose "plumb sink" option. fresh, clean drinking water.
as far as using the generator, you need to read the "how to use generators" skill magazine

You need to boil rainwater on the bbq using a cooking pot or saucepan for it to be safe. Or the easiest would be is to get water dispensers in offices/schools. You can refill those with boiled rainwater too.
Or you can plumb a sink, one floor below from a water collector. Thats tricky since the water collector should be one floor above and one tile behind/front/side but not directly above the sink. Plumbed sink automatically filters the water so its safe to drink.

Spawning in Muldraw priorities:1. Find sledgehammer 2. Head to Police station and break into armoury 3. find and fortify a base 4. spend ~100 days fortifying and gathering supplies at base 5. once base is fully formed and town has been emptied of supplies, travel to neighbouring town, rinse and repeat. My longest streak surviving was about 1900ish days. Dying was a releif; I died from jumping out a window by mistake xD

    Great Vidoe!
I would like to see more.
I would also advice you to use mods, from the workshop, the modding comunity is very passionate.
Also, a couple tips from a veteran: don't use the "sleepy" trait, your character will get weaker when he is tired. It's also possible to set up an alarm when using a digital watch, btw. Try "slow reader" and "thirsty", it's easer to manage those, since water is easy to boil over campfires and ovens . You can fast foward time, when reading, to even out the slow reader trait. It's alos easy to manage the trait "smoker", you can easly find cigarttes in bars and gas stations. You should also read magazines, those can teach you how to highjack cars and use generators.

Oh and btw, you can tow vehicles, drive one vehicle in front of an other and press the "V" key, a window should pop up, with an oprion to tow.

I just started playing last weekend. 7 lives later I am now in the exact position you're in minus the garden. I'm in that warehouse but have 2 generators and all of the kitchen gear from the restaurant on the north end of town. I'll be getting wood from the lumberyand to the west for a fence project.
    Love this game.
I'm also playing realtime so the days go by slowly unless I sped the time up.

I’m sure I’m not the only person to point this out (and you’ve probably already figured it out by now) but you are able to tow vehicles. You just need to get them close enough and open the context action menu.
You did a LOT better than I did on my first run. I just stayed in my spawn house until starvation guided me towards the Promised Land: the West Point Gigamart. Immediately after doing so, however, I caught a cold and died.

This game makes the zombie apocalipse real. Broke your car because you are seen the map, be eaten because you have two backapacks in your hands, die of diarrea if you drink tainted water, rott your foot because the electricity is gone, soo much details.

Towing a vehicle is possible, you just have to back a vehicle up into a car with more weight, then hold V in between the two cars
Additionally, if you press Z you can change seats in the car

That chopper left me running for days. It was early and it didnt stop. Each safehouse gave me couple minutes of rest. Untill my car broke down and I was forced to run in the woods. I kept going going untill I couldnt and started fighting. I killed and killed and was prepared for the hundreds of zombies but after killing 7 zeds there were no more. The chopper was above me while I survived on larva, worms and evolved to stone age. After weeks in nature and the chopper still above me I risked it and went back to my car. Each time if there were zombies they come, it was like a alarm that didnt stopped.
Best game ever and turning the chopper always is the way to go if u seek hardcore survival. U could mute the chopper sound and imagine that zombies can smell u instead hearing the chopper.

If you head to the bottom right from the fenced home on your 2nd spawn, then to the northeast on the road, follow it then head up to the top left and follow the dirt path and you will find a farmhouse, it has plenty of space, multiple buildings including a shed and barn, and a large fenced area for farming. It’s secluded too, so zombies won’t bother you. However, there’s a lot of zombies on the road, and it’s far from any loot, so you will need a car.
