- Here's my just2thoughts on the LEGO BTS Dynamite 2023 Ideas set 21339 which was just revealed, with all 7 members - RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook - incredible minifigures - and a lovely donut shop and record store based on the official music video!

I’m pleasantly surprised at how spread out the set is, I’d expect LEGO to condense it much more than they did, but I feel this slightly less crowded design is a breath of fresh air.
Not bad, but the build looks kinda bland
Especially the interior of the disco which only include a seperate stage build🙃
Looks bland but the potential for City MOCs is great with the parts and stickers.
@Frank H. to be fair it's based on a mv set, could've had a bit more detail but that's how sets actually are just empty in the back cause you're never really supposed to see it

I think it's quite a cool thing for Lego to make a set based on a music video and just pack it FULL of references. I'd love to see them do it for other iconic music videos - Thriller, anyone?
Regardless of the quality of the build, or how overpriced it is, the people in the Instagram comments saying the set will flop are just, for lack of a better word, *coping.*
BTS fans buy multiple copies of the same album just because the cardboard sleeve is different, they're easily going to spend $100 on a BTS Lego set without thinking too much about it.
EDIT: Also, Lego's Tweet teasing the set has over 340 THOUSAND likes as of me writing this comment. I think it might be their most liked Tweet ever.

I actively do not care for BTS, but even for me this is a pretty rock solid set in terms of design. Price is one thing, but getting a little record store is already so good. I was working on a half width modular record store to attach to Assembly Square, but never got around to finishing it, so this definitely scratches that itch.

The build looks extremely basic for an 18+ set. And 750 pieces for 100$? It being designed like a 90s town set is honestly more of a negative for me, I'd rather see the more intricate building techniques of recent years
I wonder if this will start a trend of music video themed sets kinda like how the sitcom sets took off… id personally love it
I'd like to see OK GO do a collab with Lego for a music video, then release a set based on it.

Honestly while I’m not a fan of BTS at all, I have no question that this set will sell well if it became Lego most liked tweet in such a short time. I can compare this to when Fortnite announced their Dragon Ball collab and that also became their most liked tweet in 2 days as well & it did so well that they made more skins 2 seasons later. Also, if Lego had problems keeping the Friends set in stock, I can’t wait to see what chaos this brings to the Lego website on release day. It’ll probably end up being another January, June, or August release day where they have to put people in a cue to get to the website. Also, I just noticed that coffee on the donut sign is spelled with only 1 e instead of 2.
So many disrespect ppl, forgetting not everything's for them neccaceraly and that yes. Lego is A Buissness after all.
Well yeah not everything is gonna be for everyone but 100$ for a set that looks like no effort has been behind it especially after seeing the *much* better submissions, I mean come on it should be a 30$ price tag

Yup - Lego were clearly too PC to give them asian features for fear of being criticised for caricaturing an ethnic group.
That vinyl shop is a record breaking first for LEGO!
Record shop would make for a pretty good modular, there’s so many 2x2 prints from the flopped Vidiyo line that would make great fake album covers.
The music video is cartoonish very 2D. So the “flatness” here is on point. Haven’t touched Lego in about 40 years. Compared to the ones they have in the 1970s this looks plenty to me 😅 Thanks for the review!

I’m a BTS fan and it’s really accurate besides the fact that the buildings are not connected in the music video but I understand that it’s more logical for them to be connected in Lego standards

I sent a Lego Metallica ideas years ago. It was based on the 80's era but if I'd redo it I'd probably have minifigs based on the 80's, 90's and modern era with stages that reflect the era like the master of puppets/and justice for all stage, monsters of rock stage, and snake pit stage. Of course my idea wasn't accepted cause it was deemed inappropriate probably cause of the lyrics/style of music. But now that they have 18 plus sets aimed at adults wonder it they would reconsider. Especially cause they did the Rolling Stones logo and their lyrics/songs can be raunchy like brown sugar.
This looks bad, I don’t like BTS but that’s not the problem. The build is Too bland and just bad and shouldn’t they be asian?

I wish this was of the Just Dance routine for Dynamite. Could have been a fully enclosed set easily.
Such a unique set and a refreshing departure from all the new sets filled with 1x1s and tons of detail. It’s not that I don’t like detailed sets, I just really appreciate the nostalgic vibes from the set and the fact that it has some cool figures makes this even better. I highly doubt we will get another set that has this kind of simplicity and retro feel anytime soon… feels like vintage lego ❤

I've never heard of the band before but I can't speak for everyone. The set looks okay but just like a lot of the stage sets such as friends and Seinfeld I feel like this is too open and flat but I guess that's what lego are going for. I like the sweet music sign though.
Lol coming back here to confirm I was right and it went backorder in like 15 minutes. Also it put me in a queue to be on any part of the Lego website at all 💀
So, I dig the record store window, I love diners, I love basketball, I know nothing of BTS aside from the fact that they’re incredibly popular, and I gotta say, I wish that donut piece was a little more fleshed out- even if they did a similar (or the same piece-) donut to the one from City a few years back…. It feels really unfinished to me- I’ll have to check the reference material, the OG submission (I’m sure your friend did an incredible job- better than this one, still a massive achievement, so def major congrats!) I do LOVE that late 80’s/early 90’s panel sticker- that thing screams my entire childhood wardrobe! If this was a random set & not based on a music video- I would tear it apart w criticism, the trees could’ve been done better, the diner could be much better etc- but since I don’t have any knowledge of what it is modeled after at the moment, I will say that the figs look good, I’m sure it will sell well bc of all of the BTS fans who will want to build it & have a sealed copy- and otherwise, if there’s a sale, double vip, or they rethink that ridiculous price tag (I’ll have to check out the record label they are on bc that can’t just be licensing! That’s horrendous!) and bc the original designer is a friend of yours, I truly hope it does well so that he gets the recognition for the hard work & also brings some $$ in for it for the next year or 2. My nitpicking may all be for nothing once I actually watch the original video and look at the submission. 50/50 for me if I would pick it up. To support lego? No. To support a great idea by someone talented? Absolutely. End rant!

I absolutely love this set! After this set got revealed I rewatched the Dynamite music video and loved the all the references LEGO put in this set from the music video. My only gremlin is the price. This set is $100 for 749 pieces, while the winter village main street set was also $100 but had 1514 pieces. That's double the pieces for the same price, and yes there would be some reasons why this would be a bit more expensive but still. This should be $80-90.
If i will be getting this set (witch is 30%) i will be getting it for the minifigs cause the torso and hair pieces are dope
I curious was to what the retention rate will be on a set like this. The friends set seemed to be bought by a lot of people who don't normally by lego but did those same people buy other set aside from the other friends set.

I'm not a BTS fan, but I do like the build. However, compare to other ideas sets, This feels overpriced. Still going to buy it because the builds are cool, and would for my future lego city, but wish there was more detail for that price.

im not a big fan of bts (manpy cuz of the stans) but i actually like this set, mostly the new parts for figures, i hope i can get some of these parts for custom, also happy to get the harry potter hair in new colors and hoping to see dark brown for doc ock in the spider-man nwh set

@@just2good The problem with the fandom is that there’s a lot that are so toxic, they’ll basically hate on you for stating an opinion that’s not even offensive yet they’ll take it kinda personal if that makes any sense.
@@Iceprince1130 just to clarify: most of ARMY are lovely people. The general tone and message of BTS' songs attract good humans but we're a BIG fandom. So even if we get only 1% of toxicity, that's **a lot of people**. I understand bad encounters are hard to shake off, but we're mostly nice 💜

Interesting how comment sections work. I checked out some other LEGO reviewer's videos and their comment sections are very friendly and positive about the set. I think it always depends on the first people setting the tone. Anyway, Lots of people will buy this BTS set, and some will probably check out their vast discography and fall in love with them. :)
Excuse the pun, but I think it depends on the community you build.
If you have a really negative attitude towards Lego set me no like, your commenters are probably gonna complain about it too.
The Instagram comment section for the set reveal has a lot of negativity from Lego fans who are sad every Lego isn't catered towards their needs.

The building looks very poor for an ideas set, looks like a LEGO friends set. Although LEGO friends sets are awesome for their category.

I'm not the demographic for this - I've heard the Dynamite song on the radio/TV - but you can see why Lego thought it was a good idea!
So, as an AFOL that's not the target audience, the only interesting thing for me is the new hairpiece and the sticker sheet could be useful.

This set looks really cute and I'm happy for BTS fans getting it, but 100 dollars feels kinda unreasonable. It looks like an 80 dollar set at the absolute most, like the Friends or Seinfeld ones. I'm afraid Lego decided to make it so expensive because they knew fans would be willing to pay extra for it.

I feel like the build is a little too small and flat for it's price. $70-80 would be a much more fitting price point for what is included. I'm not a BTS fan, so I can't speak on the accuracy, but I do think the minifigs look great. I'll probably buy the sticker sheet and the new hair piece by themselves rather than picking this up. I know the Stans tend to buy any and all BTS merch, so I would bet this set sells well.
Never cared about BTS, but that new hairpiece would be perfect for a Jerma MOC.

BTS set looks neat with cool minifigs, just like the Queer Eye set but just as overpriced. Similar to QE, gonna wait for a sale before picking this up.
Queer eye vibes, fans will pick it up, but most who buy will only buy for collecting and because their fans. However the mini figures may be a nice investment
