It is a good project if it is an elevated/underground line with standard gauge. If it is an at-grade project, then lots of over and under-passes will have to be built to facilitate vehicular movement from East to West, which will escalate the cost by a very big margin.

Indian railway itself is making rolling stock with 220 kmph design speed.If silver line is designed for 220 kmph, then better make it in braod gauge if it is 320 kmph, then in standard gauge.
@Navneeth: Its not about rolling stock. Its about tracks, bridges and tunnels meant from Indian guage. Let them build and test that in broad gauge for minimum five years and publish the data. Untill then, standard gauge is the go-to tech which has decades of reliability and cheaper.

This will not happen in a state like Kerala. Others can argue. But, I'm saying facts. Primary reasons... 1. Bullet train projects are required for those states which have immense potential for industrial development. Sadly, Kerala lacks it. 2. The geographical structure of Kerala gives no feasibility to implement a project like this 3. The population density of Kerala is another obstacle. 4. The party that rules Kerala now, will oppose it by the time they sit in opposition.
1. Tvm-Ksd VB has the highest occupancy entire India even more than Mumbai-Ahmdbd route. And Kerala has the least poverty rate in India and per capita GDP in the Top 10 state list. Also International and domestic tourists will utilize these in big way as its the easiest and fastest way to travel the entire Kerala.If anyone who could afford semi-HSR in India, its Kerala.
2. The alignment of K-rail is along the coast so it wont cross the western ghats. And Japan build its HSR in the 1960s through a terrain which has mountains and earthquakes. So building a 200 kph through Kerala with tech of 2024 is not a big deal.And the survey and alignment for K-rail was done Systra, the famous French consultancy which is owned by SNCF who runs the TGV. So they know their stuff
3. High-population density is exactly why we need K-rail. And people said the same thing for expanding Highway which takes more land and goes through major towns than K-rail

The party that rules Kerala now, will oppose it by the time they sit in opposition. Besides, most of the travel related issues in Kerala, will be resolved by the time NH 66 Expansion project is fully completed. If Centre and State is ruled by the same party, then there is a 5% chance. But, that is dim.
Speed line is very necessary as the world is moving very fast now. Problems will come for every project. We have to sort it out.
