    Matt, we haven't met yet, but I look forward to meeting you some day. Your and your family's tireless efforts to get this message out are making a big impact. You and the rest of the metabolic psychiatry team have convinced me to take my entire clinical psychology practice in this direction. It will take time, but the world is changing thanks to your efforts!

      I can definitely relate to this. Having practiced psychiatric nursing for 17 years, it is a disheartening experience to witness so much needless suffering. Likewise, I am in the process of setting up a new practice. I feel I now have so much more to offer to my clients, than the one size fit all approach. I'm so grateful to have come across Matt's story and Metabolic Mind. I implemented the ketogenic diet and put a 12 year struggle with antidepressant induced bipolar disorder in remission. I have never seen anything that immediate and all encompassing quality of life improvement, in all my years of working in conventional mental health system. I too, look forward to meeting so many of the courageous souls and pioneers in this community.

    I am a family physician and use keto for many of my patients. Keto is useful for so many disorders that it should be the normal diet now.
    I started prescribing a keto diet before there were any commercial but Ketone monitors. I actually worked with individuals on psychiatric medication's trying to help them avoid the adverse effects. Now 10 0:02 years later I'm always looking to share the news.
    Personally I rely on keto to remain energized.

      We need more physicians like you and Bret!!! I LOVE my energy on keto. I feel like I have abundant and infinite energy. It is a sense of aliveness I have never experienced before. I didn't think it was possible. Initially I actually thought I was going hypomanic! I just didn't know what was normal for me after the 20 year debacle through the medical and mental health system. I do not monitor my ketones. Instead, I've learned to tune in to my brain and body, and listen to their gentle and sometimes violent whispers. Our bodies and brains are brilliant and always communicating with us.

      Do you see pediatric patients? Is this a whole family approach? Such as parents get prescribed ketogenic meal plans and they then provide this type of food to their children ? Do you recommend patients reduce cholesterol, eat high fibre and minimize saturated fat?

    That's exactly what I say Matt, it is criminal that I was left with seizures after a head injury in 2004 due to a DV incident & Keto was never mentioned. Seizures started at 2 a year but after 2yrs I stopped the meds due to the s/e. This then caused more seizures of around 6 monthly. I stopped all meds in 2012 as they were not helping & In 2022 after a bad fall I decided to research keto which I was led to believe was only for children. I am sure in 2004 if I had been started on the keto diet it could have stopped the 2 seizures a year. I do not want to start meds again which the Drs are wanting so I started keto on my own 1yr ago which has halved the seizures to around 2 - 3 a month. I have had 2 appnts with Lauren who works with Denise & am hoping they can stop these seizures totally so I could have some sort of life again. I gave up my Fashion & Design work after I had just started a Web page selling my Designs.

    Is ADHD, ODD, Conduct Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder and Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder precursor to Bi-Polar ? Do childcare services and schools, educational services for children under 16 monitor children for conditions that may develop into bi-polar conditions. Could children improve in early childhood middle years of schooling if they were ketogenic ?

    My 21 year old son, who suffers severely from Bipolar depression, has been on strict Keto( mostly carnivore)for 8 weeks.
    He is sleeping better and not as sluggish during the day, but it hasn't touched the depression.
    I'm so discouraged that it hasn't improved, as I can see Ketogenic Therapy has helped so many others.
    I'm a mom that hasn't quit researching to try to save his life. After I came upon this therapy through seeing so many of these videos, I was full of renewed hope, but as each day passes, my heart is becoming less hopeful.💔
    Is 8 weeks too soon to tell or should he feel differently by now?

    • @metabolicmind
      @metabolicmind  6 місяців тому +1

      Sorry to hear your son isn't seeing immediate results. While some people do see immediate benefits, others may take up to 4 months. In fact, Dr. Chris Palmer usually says he doesn't consider it an "adequate" trial unless it is at least 4 months long. I'm not sure we know why people respond in different time frames, but that appears to be the case.

    so which version of keto do we need for mental improvements, very strickt clinical one used for ppl with epilepsy or more casual one should be enough?

    • @metabolicmind
      @metabolicmind  Рік тому +3

      The data so far suggests that any ketogenic diet likely works, so it shouldn't have to be the strict 4:1 diet initially used in epilepsy. Even in epilepsy, they are going toward a MAD or modified Atkins diet, which is a much less strict version of a ketogenic diet.

    • @philippashirkey2192
      @philippashirkey2192 Рік тому

      @@kelvliximab2362from my own experience I would say start with the version of keto you can stick with and experiment with cleaning it up as you go forward. Seed oils don't feel as good as fat or good oils for me, and trying to eat real food with keeping keto treats as treats has better results for me also. But sticking to keto is better than not. Everyone is different though.

    • @metabolicmind
      @metabolicmind  Рік тому +4

      We don't have enough data to know for sure, but it certainly makes sense that any "diet" that improves metabolic health and supplies ketones should be effective. So that can include dirty keto. Of course, we recommend a whole foods ketogenic diet, but we realize people have to find something they can stick with long term.

      carnivore. Try it for a few of weeks. You'll start seeing a difference in about 3-4 days and that'll then continue over the following months. Keep in mind the first few days is difficult. You'll get the biggest improvements on carnivore though. Dr. Andrew Chaffee has the best videos and interviews about this.

    • @NeseretBemient
      @NeseretBemient 11 місяців тому +1

      Yes, when Olanzapine works, it does wonders! I had a family member who it saved their life in acute crisis and prevented hospitalization. They were only on a very low dose - 5mg, and it helped with a quick turnaround in stabilizing them (increased appetite, sleep, lowering agitation, improved cognition etc.) while titrating on Lithium. Powerful! However, within just a couple of months, they had gained 20 lbs, and were experiencing severe vertigo, migraines, and blurred vision. They discontinued it. By that time, the Lithium had kicked in. So I get "the love hate relationship."

      Quite boring indeed, but very doable and with time you find things that excite you. For me that was chuck roast in the oven, if done right has an after taste of coca cola syrup. As well as beef jerky or beef chips 😋 yuuum! So it's not all bad, but it is restrictive.
      All though just like Matt said, it is freeing! You don't get stuck in the store getting 10 000 different ingredients. I don't think I ever forgot to buy something since I started carnivore. You always know what's for dinner. You also get extremely good at making your favorite food coz you eat it every day 🥰😋

    • @mrwater2033
      @mrwater2033 Рік тому

      Animal based (Paul Saladino), Keto & Carnivore are far more doable. But sadly they all trigger my mania. (Pork, Chicken, Duck) Pork is really rich in glutamate which seems to be affecting the mania.. Experimenting with the Lion diet now and I really hate it. I've tried different cuts of ruminant animals (sheep, lamb, beef) grassfed and grainfed. Grassfed is more doable but idk the journey seems far more difficult when it's getting disgusting.
      I'm still eager to find out whether this puts bipolar into remission without meds (with supervision ofc) I'm glad that people are getting positive results from keto or carnivore. That's awesome. I wouldn't wish the Lion diet on my worst enemy, lol. I really wish I could do keto cuz that would've been so easy for me :(
      I know there's high possiblity to put diseases that are "chronic" and incurable into remission or else my autoimmune disease psorasis wouldn't disappear.
