Agreed..That's what Crews are all about...Vietnam 282nd Assault Helicopter Company Black Cats & Alley Cats 3rd Platoon Alley Cats. Crew Chief on Huey Gunships. December 1970-1971
It's amazing to think that he had thoughts about what he could have done "better." I understand the psychology behind it, but since I have never experienced such a moment in my life, I simply cannot comprehend it. Capt. Sullenberger did EVERYTHING right. Not just a few things, not most things. He did EVERYTHING right. He had the right training, the right mentality, and he was on the right flight, at the right moment in time, so that he had the chance to not only save 155 lives, but also touch millions more. He was dealt a terrible hand, and somehow, he still managed to make the grim reaper fold under pressure. Captain Sullenberger is TRUE hero, and we all are better because of him.
I am convinced that, had this pilot not been an amazing "human being," no piloting skills or experience would have saved the crew and passengers. It is clear to me that the quality of his being is what saved them all.
Wow must have been so emotional for him, how do you handle the words "thank you for saving my life" such a powerful acknowledgment. He deserves a peaceful and happy retirement.
Such balls not to say "I saved them, I can't do more", but after all he did "People need to feel hopeful. And if I can help in that way I will". The power of goodness right there.
an EXTRAordinary man. not only for the flight but his ability to handle all that came after, with such class and calm and understanding. under extreme mental stress for a man who was just a pilot. RESPECT
Sully is a Perfect example of someone being "The Man" and he has Lived and continues to live his Life as "The Man"...Have a Feeling he Loves it too...Very WELL WELL Deserved Mr Sullenberger!!
Wow he's so calm, stoic and cool under pressure, and above all humble, Mr. Sully Sullenberger is the definition of a true hero. I know he'll never get comfortable or use to that and say he was only doing his job but that's the humbleness that hero's have. Yes of course Copilot Jeffery Skeyls and the flight attendants helped him a great deal and we need to pay them their dues too they are all heroic as well. However it's all in The Lord's plane that Sully was at the helm of the plane when the bird strike happened if anyone else was piloting that day and/or with less experience it could have resulted in a tragic ending instead of a happy one. 7 years out and I'm still in aw of the man, is calm, is grace, his humility, and above all his confidence under pressure my hats off to him. I know he's retired now but I'd be blessed to have Sully as my pilot any day of the year as we all would be and as the 150 passengers where on that fateful day in January 2009.
The thing that strikes me most about Sullenberger is how modest and humble he is -- and how quick he is to credit Jeff Skiles and the rest of the crew. Those are characteristics of a confident, respected and effective leader.
Forget the what if's, Sully! YOU DID GREAT! Everybody is not just safe, but alive and living good. I hope that even today, you find peace and to be able feel everybody's loves and thankfulness. Oh, and God's blessings upon you are your family.
His last reply to Katie is the best,, he doesn't feel comfortable being called a hero but he understands why he is being called that, people need good news and he doesn't want to diminish that,,, wow!!
After watching videos about the Hudson River Miracle, I realize how much he really cared about every single person on that plane. He stayed in a flooded vehicle just to make sure everyone had gotten out of it.
No one has EVER been able to land an ill fated aircraft like this with no chance or choice but to land wherever they deemed safe. Sully and Jeff Skyles got it done under impossible odds. Nothing short of heroes
Poor guy. He did everything he could in a matter of 4 and a half minutes. Short of saving the plane again that it could again, he got the perfect result and outcome. Some passengers barely got wet that it was so successful. And with such praise and attention, it couldn't have come to a better person.
There can be no doubt that this man is a hero. Anyone who can lead these people to safety in the face of such adversity deserves all the thanks, love and adoration he receives. Whether he thinks he deserves it, or not...
I cant imagine my emotion since the first time i saw the courageous man took control of a crash so conscious i thank him for all his experience he shows during his travel in the shadow of death. Captain i want you to think God for his angel that accompanied you in this new page of your life, many people wouldnt know you today without that deadly experience, but thank to God you overcome it, we the world we love you.
Watched the movie over and over, and all these videos after each movie. All the way, crying. The crew, air traffic control, first responders... They did their job. Captain Sully and First Officer Jeffery - did their part with extraordinary professionalism and skills. Bless them all.
Captain Sulley is a skilled professional that I would love to have as the Captain of all of my flights! I love that he went through the plane twice to check for wounded passengers and was the last person off the plane! I am a former flight attendant who would have been honored to have flown with him!
omg tearsss...so touched by the humility and grace in this man's heart. and thinking about how 150 people's LIVES were SAVED is so wonderful. God bless these guys!!
perfect team work there. The plane has no engines and they're working together - amazing. Sully took control and other pilot backed him up perfectly. True courage and guts. I'd probably have passed out
Saw the movie today, my wife and I. Truly an inspiring story and very well told. Sully knew his capabilities and he knew his options. But most importantly, he was not going to be railroaded by the NTSB. The story brought out that the feds were ready to blame him and his co-pilot, but he stood his ground and he proved his actions correct. Bravo!!
I saw it in the water when it happened. Again at a movie theater with my wife and again last night seeing the movie at home. GREAT GREAT GREAT SKILLS. 11 degrees. one off and the plane breaks apart. Sully had to guide the dying plane to where those furry boats were to get help fast and did so. Great GREAT GREAT !!!!
They say in life we are all meant to accomplish something that will be the pivotal moment in our life, no matter how big or small. This was Sullenberger was meant to accomplish in his life.
He did his best, AND IT WORKED. Capt. Sully's humility makes it hard for him to accept the word "HERO". A truly humble man. He deserves to be called such, for he is that word . a HERO to all those people who could have died, but survived BECAUSE OF HIM. HE IS A REAL HERO, & I'm more than PROUD of him.
What an amazing person Mr. Sullenberger is . Every time I see a plane in the sky I think those pilots have nerves of steel. What a lucky airliner U.S. Airways was to have this guy in the cockpit for this flight.
My dad is a pilot for American and if he crashed the plane like Sully did I would be very proud of him even if he went down with the plane. (like the Titanic) I love you dad. 😘✈️
Captain Sullenberger....you made the best decision you could with the hand you were dealt!! I hope you will remember that always. Great flying, Captain!!
I've followed this story since Day 1. God was definitely with Captain Sullenberger, First Officer Skiles, 3 Flight Attendants, 150 passengers, and their loved ones on January 15, 2009. Quite often, I think about Sully, Jeff, Doreen, Donna, Sheila, the passengers & their loved ones, and I pray for them even 10 years later. Such an extraordinary miracle and while I'm not a pilot nor was I there that day, Sully & Jeff did everything right. If anything was done differently, the outcome would've probably turned out at worst case scenario. Well done, Captain. May God be with you, Jeff, Doreen, Donna, Sheila, 150 passengers, & all of your loved ones.
@ 5:12 really got me!! I got a knot in my throat and that's when the waterworks really started! Such an amazing crew! Every single person on that plane helped one another and they are all heroes in my book!!
Now THIS is a role model. We need more people like Sully, Skiles and the crew in the public eye. Just a shame it has to take such an event to bring them to our attention.
A testament to the human spirit. May this incredible story serve as an inspiration to each of us, that no matter what our circumstance, we should never give up! Our actions may just have a positive impact on other people's lives - for generations to come! "Whatever the mind can conceive, and believe, the mind can achieve." - Napoleon Hill. Bravo "Captain Sully" & the crew, the first responders & the passengers for making it through & turning this potential tragedy into a good news story.
Captain, it's never too late to say God Bless You. You are an angel of humility, and compassion. I hope you live a long life, and continue to receive the love and blessings of everyone on Earth. I love you.
I can’t imagine how it must’ve felt to him having all of those people say thank you for life! How does one respond to that?? The emotional weight must be unimaginable.
The scope of what it could have been is hard to grasp. How many would have lost their lives if Sully had not made the choices he did. Sully is so professional and humble. I loved watching him grab his crew and hug them.... the msg it sent - we did it, not just me. The entire crew have become role models and have defined what it means to be a true professional.
I started crying when they started hugging Sully.....he is a TRUE hero! I wish I could shake his hand and give him such a big hug too! We love you 😢😢😢☺
This story always makes me cry. Such a remarkable team!! They all worked together to save lives in and off that plane! He and his crew are some awesome people!!! The movie doesn't give this true American hero story justice!!!!
Notice he grabbed the crew and stood with them. "Not I, but all of us did this" True humble professional.
Dodge Man yes I noticed that also. So humble. Very honorable man.
MoneyOverFame but only Tom Hanks played Sully, the other actors are nobodies
Agreed..That's what Crews are all about...Vietnam 282nd Assault Helicopter Company Black Cats & Alley Cats 3rd Platoon Alley Cats. Crew Chief on Huey Gunships. December 1970-1971
no..but auto landing did it
talk about ignorant....no such thing as manual flight, at least not commercial flight.
Capt. Sullenberger is the epitome of class, professionalism, skill, and a true hero. His humble nature is second to none. The best!
Keedeeaylaison Meghalowtsika indeed. He's humble and professional demeanor makes people gravitate to him.
Hear hear.
The right person with right skills in the right place at the right time
In seiner Besonnnenheit und Bescheidenheit ist Captain Sullenberger ein echtes Vorbild. Eines von ganz wenigen auf diesem Erdball.
THIS MAN IS MY HERO !!!!! THANK YOU MR.SULLY!!!GOD BLESS YOU SIR !!!!
Cata is your pic an orange with a trump wig😂😂😂

I am convinced that, had this pilot not been an amazing "human being," no piloting skills or experience would have saved the crew and passengers. It is clear to me that the quality of his being is what saved them all.
Wow must have been so emotional for him, how do you handle the words "thank you for saving my life" such a powerful acknowledgment. He deserves a peaceful and happy retirement.
his words from 6:02 to 6:29 are impeccable. Such class and grace.
Well mannered !
That kind, knowing toughness is compelling. The world needs more of him
Your comment never gets old
Such balls not to say "I saved them, I can't do more", but after all he did "People need to feel hopeful. And if I can help in that way I will". The power of goodness right there.
Captain Sullenberger...a hero beyond words...First Officer Jeff Skiles....a hero beyond words
an EXTRAordinary man. not only for the flight but his ability to handle all that came after, with such class and calm and understanding. under extreme mental stress for a man who was just a pilot. RESPECT
So humble. So much humility. I loved how he grabbed the crew, and included them all. This is beautiful . Chesley, you are an honorable man.
Captain Sully, you are a man among men. Thank you for all you and your crew did.
He should be every pilots teacher.
Yep, I agree with that...
I would propose him as a managing director at the FAA, if he would want to have the job.
It's not only about flying, it's about safety as a whole.
Not only is he a hero, but he's so well spoken too! Thank you Captain Sully!
Sully is a Perfect example of someone being "The Man" and he has Lived and continues to live his Life as "The Man"...Have a Feeling he Loves it too...Very WELL WELL Deserved Mr Sullenberger!!
He's the reason I train to become an A320 pilot
Just checking in. How are you today?
This guy is our People's Champion. Very humble man.
Wow he's so calm, stoic and cool under pressure, and above all humble, Mr. Sully Sullenberger is the definition of a true hero. I know he'll never get comfortable or use to that and say he was only doing his job but that's the humbleness that hero's have. This is such an inspirational video. I watch it whenever I get really depressed about the state of humanity. Maybe hope exists after all!!!
Thank you captain Sully, God bless you you and your family

Probably one of the best interviews with real honest questions and answers!
Captain Sullenberger, and all of his crew, are very special human beings. Bless 'em all.
There can be no doubt that this man is a hero. Anyone who can lead these people to safety in the face of such adversity deserves all the thanks, love and adoration he receives. Whether he thinks he deserves it, or not...
Mr Sully you did the best you can do, you landed the plane safety on the Hudson. I eternally salute you for your bravery and saving all those lives.

He made sure to reach back, and grab his co cap. Classy.
I just love how Capt. Sully upon entering turns and makes sure all his crew are walking in equally beside him, not behind him. Great man!
All the lives were saved. That is what is so very important🙏.

Every plane flight I take and when we land and walk past the captain I look him straight in the eye and say "Thank you for getting me down safely."
You got pilots and you have aviators and this man is definitely a aviators.
‘Thank you for not making me a widow’. Wow. That must have been powerful to hear.
They say in life we are all meant to accomplish something that will be the pivotal moment in our life, no matter how big or small. This was Sullenberger was meant to accomplish in his life.
Everyone can learn a thing or two from So humble and so true to himself and to his crew.

CAPT SULLY THINKS LIKE A TRUE PATRIOT! Humbling speeches, calm and collected approach...he is a remarkable human being.
A testament to the human spirit. May this incredible story serve as an inspiration to each of us, that no matter what our circumstance, we should never give up! Our actions may just have a positive impact on other people's lives - for generations to come!

This dude's picture is next to the definition of cool in the dictionary.
The word hero gets thrown around a lot these days, but Sully is one of the finest heroes out there. He is an inspiration to all. Thank you.
