No worries, Rachal! And if you ever want free access to a very good program which shows how to draft and file a provisional patent application for your next one, you can get 10 days free access to iPatentPending™ via the Free Trial button here. (It includes this video in the program too). (Crew member status also gets you access to elite patent services like the PerfectPatent™ Search (replicates an official patent office search), and the LightSpeed PerfectPatent™ Package, which allows you to get official patent office feedback as to the patentability of your invention, in as quick as 18 days, instead of the standard 2-3 year USPTO wait: theinventorsjourney.com/crewmember.html
That's why we're here. Remember, if you need help drafting (and filing) a really good provisional, the whole program iPatentPending™ is now fully unlocked (including the USPTO PPA Filing Video) on the 10 Day Free Trial of The Inventor's Journey™: theinventorsjourney.com/crewmember.html With regards, Jethro L Bennett Captain of SHIINE® ENTERPRISE Creator of The Inventor's Journey™ ( www.TheInventorsJourney.com ) Inventor, Professional Product Designer, Elite Patent Specialist

Thank you very much. I searched for this information on the web for some time. I should have known to just come to youtube. It's people like you that make youtube great.
How do I remove special characters from my pdf location, the site will not let me upload them because of the forward slashes and I'm not sure how to remove them????
For anyone that when they are doing it only see save as a pdf and no other options, you are on the online version of Microsoft word. If you go to the desktop version you should see it. Hopefully it will save you the 3 hours I wasted on the phone talking to different customer support people
I am receiving said errors. This solution might work for my Specification file which was created in Google Docs but I don't see how it will work on the following files "with errors:" SB16, which is a downloaded "fillable PDF" mandated from the uspto site and then my drawings, which were formerly jpgs which the uspto site mandated to save as PDFs. Please advise. TYIA
About your message: 1) This solution WILL (not 'might') work for your Specification created in Google Docs, because Google docs allows you to convert Google docs to Microsoft Word docs: ua-cam.com/video/OXc7-GAyYOw/v-deo.html . Seems to show Google Docs has an in-built option to allow you to convert to WORD document. (Then just use free trial of Microsoft OFFICE if you don't have Microsoft WORD already) 2) Your SB16 problem should not occur if it's been filled out in the normal way. What program did you use to fill it out? Other option is you could print it out from your computer, then scan it back into your computer as a PDF. That will likely go through fine on the USPTO system. You could even use Adobe Acrobat (or maybe even Adobe Reader) to 'print as PDF', which may create a file that the USPTO system allows. 3) I don't really understand your JPG issue- why not just copy and paste (or drag) your JPG drawings into a single Microsoft WORD document? That would be the obvious thing to do. Many/most patent practitioners bring various drawing files into Microsoft Word, before numbering them up in Microsoft Word itself anyway. So if you bring the JPGs into one Microsoft WORD document, you could then just save as PDF and file them on the USPTO system (and use the technique in this UA-cam video, if there are any 'embedded font' issues). '@Alexandria Lukes Hi, Alexandria. I just tried uploading an SB16 provisional cover sheet PDF, and the USPTO system had no problems with it. It went through fine. Is there any chance you could contact me (on help@TheInventorsJourney.com), so I can find out what's happening? There's always lots of workarounds, and if this is happening to multiple inventors, I want to find out why, and solve it. With regards, Jethro L Bennett Captain of SHIINE® ENTERPRISE Creator of The Inventor's Journey™ ( www.TheInventorsJourney.com ) Inventor, Professional Product Designer, Elite Patent Specialist
Yes- this means that the actual NAME that you've named your PDF file as does not conform to USPTO filing requirements. Basically, things like SPACES and PERIOD MARKS (and other things) are not allowed in your file name. It's just a quirk of their filing system. Change any period marks to regular hyphens, and make sure the file name has no spaces in it. For full rules, check out this USPTO file name guidelines page: www.uspto.gov/patents-application-process/applying-online/files-be-submitted-naming-pdf-files With regards, Jethro L Bennett Captain of SHIINE® ENTERPRISE Creator of The Inventor's Journey™ ( www.TheInventorsJourney.com ) Inventor, Professional Product Designer, Elite Patent Specialist
Thanks...but I have my files on a jump drive using a laptop, it doesn't give me those options, please help! I have even tried to do it in Google docs and it is not working..😓
Just drag the files onto the laptop from the 'jump' drive (eg onto the Desktop), and then use Microsoft Word (you can download a free trial from Microsoft of the whole OFFICE suite of programs, including Microsoft Word, if you don't have it already, and it can be downloaded for PC or Mac). Then just do exactly the same as this UA-cam video shows. You need to drag the files off the USD/jump drive, ONTO your laptop (eg the Desktop), so you can edit them. That's probably the problem you're having. Please post here if this works, once you've successfully filed them. @@shiinetheinventorsjourney8012 thanks for getting back with me..i thought I had my documents prepared correctly for USPTO standards, but i kept getting that non embedded files error.
