I absolutely love your second channel. I love it when you read the journals, it does make us feel like we're there at the same time. I am a lover of all things of history

I love hearing what Mr. Cresswell has to say. He is always a bit cranky but always interesting to listen to his opinions on things. Thank you for reading these things to us, Jon. They open up history to us and make it seem like we are right there with him experiencing the nthings as he saw them.

I love your content, and appreciate the commentary you provided on this video. Both of your channels are fantastic: this channel feels like an overlooked gem that is hidden in plain sight for all to see.

For a project I was working on, I went thru the extensive list of plants (several hundred), that the natives used as medicines. A number of them do actually work according to modern pharmacology. A number of them will also kill you!

What a coincidence... my husband has just recovered from the "gravel" I wish I'd had a recipe for that tea last week 😁

"Nothing but whores and rogues in this country." My husband: "I need that quote on a bumper sticker."

I was wondering what did he expect the girls to do....wade through the river and get soaked, their dresses to get filthy from dragging on the ground? Obviously this poor snob of a man can not see both sides. Maybe that's why he never made any money
Thank you! I can't wait for the next reading

Doctors in his time would have bled him in order to balance his humours. I’m not sure they would have been effective against whatever illness he had. Herbal remedies are the basis for almost every single modern drug we have. They might not have understood why certain plants were effective and exactly how they worked, but I wouldn’t necessarily say the housekeepers remedy was lower level. Modern medicine says pay for pills and expensive office visits, etc. I absolutely agree that modern medicine has its value and is integral to treating many illnesses. However, I don’t think it pays to dismiss herbal medicines from a trained herbalist as of lower value. I live with multiple autoimmune disorders, and have been on dozens of medications over the years for pain, skin issues, low energy, etc for decades. It wasn’t until I added herbal medicines into the mix for their anti inflammatory properties and on my skin that I started to actually see positive change. I was paying 3k a month for otezla and more for enbrel and other biologics, but drinking an anti inflammatory tea and learning to make my own skin creams from herbs, has been miraculous. I’m just saying modern medicine doesn’t have all the answers and we should safely consider natural remedies from trained professionals.

Could you share where you found your recipes for skin creams from herbs? And what anti inflammatory tea? Thanks
