Aer is one of the most consistent companies we have ever come across in our reviews, and the Aer commuter brief 2 is exactly what we have come to expect from Aer. Good organization, excellent exterior materials, and superb comfort.

DO NOT get the Aer Commuter Brief 2 if…
❌ IF you carry a boatload of tech gear. Laptops, keyboards, speakers, headphones, chargers, etc. might be too much. there might not be enough organization for all of your tech needs, as we said in the video, check out the Nomatic Messenger instead. 👇🏼

Aer has a very vocal following, and for a good reason. Their products are comfortable, stylish with just the right amount of organization. At the same time, they don't have giant logos on their products, nor does their style shout "look at me" We would Suggest Aer products for people who like to think of themselves as minimalists.

Always the best reviews on youtube
You're my favorite ♥️
When it comes to bags, I just hope I find it in this channel before I buy it hahahah
I'm always learning a lot from you when it comes to review...what I always like is the PROs and CONs 😁 👍 and the idea of how the key should be an easy access 👍
Thanks for the love Brenda! Key-access is super important to backpack nerds like me 😂
@@Nomads.Nation Mr Aaron can we request you to please make a review on Black Ember backpacks 😁😊
@@Nomads.Nation I'm a bag Nerd by the way just like you 😁🤣 but I used to Love Coach and Michael Kors but recently enjoyed backpacks and getting more Nerd when I watched most of your videos 🤣 because I did learn a lot with how you review it in details and really hoping one day to buy the perfect one for me as well as sling bags and pouches 😁 thanks much guys
Yes the back button pocket is definitely necessary and comes in handy for everything you mentioned and more.
💯
Great review, as usual, and great street walk 😉
haha thanks man, that's my 'not sure if I'm walking the right way, wait, why am I questioning how to walk, whatever just keep walking' walk 😂
@@Nomads.Nation just likin' the 'tude, dude😎
Hey Aaron. I've just discovered your YT channel and "liked" and subscribed. I probably don't fit into your normal demographic (I'm 56 year old retired person) I have watched probably about 10 of your videos (thus far). You really do a great job. (The only other "bag review" channel I watch is "Pack Hacker"....they're okay...but boring. You are enjoyable to watch. I've had my wife check out your videos and she agrees that you're a "hoot". I really like the way you break down into concise chapters each reviewed areas of the product. Your fun (but still very informed) personality simply makes the videos entertaining and educational. (Not a "huge fan" of the bleeped "F bombs) but that's just me being an old Gen X'er. LOL. I really like the AER products. I have this Commuter Brief and last year I ordered the AER day sling 2 but to be honest with you I gave that sling to my 28 year old son. I liked the sling but (at least here in suburban Columbus Ohio) men my age don't really wear slings and I felt kind of funny wearing mine on my back. I was bummed out because I really love the AER brand and product. Oh well....slings are probably best left to Millennials and Get Z young guys. Keep up the great work and stay safe in SE Asia.....Mike
Hey Mike thanks so much for the kind comment! Im glad the channel has provided you value and that your wife thinks im a hoot 😆.
Understood about the sling - if you aren’t feeling it then you aren’t feeling it. But have you checked out the Aer Tech Sling 2? It can be carried as a messenger or a brief AND when you are feeling extra frisky you can wear it as a sling. Check it out if you haven’t, it could be a good solution for you.
Many thanks mate!
@@Nomads.Nation I just watched your review of the AER tech sling 2. Wow is that ever nice. I really gotta think about that one. Thanks for the tip Aaron.....Mike in Ohio
@@MTobin1000 my pleasure 💪🏾
Great review! Now between this and the day pack2. I think I would do this but the short strap is a concern and the non moveable shoulder pad although I am use to using a messenger bag so a bit unsure about moving to a backpack but the day pack seems to have NO real cons.
Agreed day pack has no real cons, but if you are a messenger kinda guy then the commuter brief will not let you down
YES FINALLY I'm waiting for thiiiiiiiis 👌🇵🇭
Hope you enjoyed Paolo!!
Where'd you get yours? Thanks
Thanks for the review. Do you think I could fit a small packing cube in this for a short (3 day) work trip?
Glad to help! It should, but it really depends on the packing cube.
Thanks for the great review Aaron, I really like the overall look of this bag. (I own the original Tech Sling 7 or 8L) but I am also concern about the short strap as I also like carrying crossbody especially if the bag is fully loaded. I am 5’9” and I find the 13L a bit heavy and carrying on my side is a minus. I also wished that the bag should have a movable or an adjustable shoulder pad.
oh by the way, do you think it can accommodate a nice camera cube in the main compartmet alongside a tech pouch? Thank you.
Hey Alvin! With all of your specs I think this isn't the bag for you, maybe check out the Peak Design Everyday Sling or Messenger :)
@@Nomads.Nation the PD looks big, bulky, and it does not stand at all 🙄
@@alvinbartolome1239 Heard that, let us know what you end up getting!
IM back lmao, So I had purchased the are tech sling 2 bag and it was just a little too big for what I am carrying. SO I am in the process of returning and they recommended probably going with this bag. so I pulled up UA-cam and sure enough you reviewed it lol. I carry an iPad Pro 11 inch, mpk3 midi keyboard and then the norms. charging cables, couple battery packs and some small accessories also some fidget stuff. This bag looks like it can handle it all. thanks for the review will have to try this out once I complete my return.
Welcome back! But I'm confused, you say that the Tech Sling 2 is too big your your needs (8L) - but the Commuter Brief 2 is actually bigger (13L)... confused I am
@@Nomads.Nation yep wrote that wrong the tech sling was too small it was lol
awesome! It's nowhere near as comfortable, but it's got tons more space and looks amazing. Let us know what you think of it when you get it :)
@@Nomads.Nation I feel like looking for the right bag is never ending lol yesterday Aer released their new sling that might be same dimensions of commuter brief. Gonna hold on purchasing till you get your hands on it lol
Any plans on reviewing the new Aer pro brief? Can you help me decide between this and the pro brief?
We have the pro brief and I’ve used it extensively - it’s much smaller and lighter but I’d pick it over the Commuter all day
Need a messenger bag, love the aer simplicity, but I'm afraid it's a bit too small. I carry lots of gear around daily, but still want a messenger. I carry a 13 inch laptop, tablet and 2 tech cases. Now I have the tenba DNA 13, considering the black ember 3-1 too.. Nomatic seems too rigid.. Any others you recommend?
Peak Design Messenger is pretty beefy and should work with your requirements
I’m in the market for a brief / commuter bag and have been watching a lot of your videos. They are fantastic, informative reviews. I’m looking for information on Rains Texel Tech Bag, but can’t find any information on them. Any info on those?? Maybe lack on information should be telling me something? Otherwise I do like these AER bags. Thanks for the awesome videos!
Thanks for the kind words! Unfortunately we haven’t done any Rains reviews yet, hoping to sometime this year!
Try a Tenba DNA 16 slim instead they are imho even better, even if you don't use a camera.
Thanks, I’ll be sure to check it out 💪🏾
Please review alpaka tech brief for comparison 😁
hopefully soon!
How do you compare Aer overall to Nomatic in terms of brand and build quality?
Both are fantastic in terms of functionality, features, and design. I would say that nomatic has a tendency though to skimp on their materials, which makes me feel like they are a bit overpriced.
@@Nomads.Nation i had a 1st gen nomatic messenger bag (from kickstarter) and nomatic replaced me with a 2nd gen messenger bag. The replacement bag despite being the newer model has a set of issues (more on quality problems) so i am giving up on the nomatic. The messenger bag on its own is great due to the practicality and functionality but i cannot overlook on the problems.. Now probably looking at this AER for work.
@@nitric75 I have not had any problems with Nomatic products, but you are not the first person I have heard this from. The good news is that Aer products are durable af and extremely well-made. If you end up getting this please let us know what you thiink of it after testing for a few weeks!
Heya! Love your reviews, I'm torn between this and the flight pack 2 (in briefcase mode), do you have future plans on reviewing the flight pack 2?
Thanks Alexios! And yes, flight pack 2 review is in the works :)
Get the Black Ember Forge instead! Way better!
@@Ruinour Can't wait to review Black Ember
How often does Aer update their bags? Does this make sense to buy 2 years later?
Depends on the bag, I haven’t heard of any updates on the horizon, but who knows. V2 still rocks though
@@Nomads.Nation thank you! Appreciate the reply. Longtime fan of your content.
@@NoFutureInThis I personally respond to every comment on this channel - hit me up anytime!
Can you carry both a 16 inch Macbook Pro and an iPad Pro 12.9 inch with a smart keyboard with it?
Not sure Andy, sounds like a great question for Aer customer support. Plz let us know what they say!
@@Nomads.Nation They took a few days, but they took the time to verify that my use case is indeed good for this brief. Thanks for the vid!
@@andyibanezk amazing , thanks for the update!
OK... ring on finger at 16:02.... then pffttt..... gone? 😱🙄
ha no juicy drama, been engaged since starting this channel to the same lovely lady and sometimes I try on different rings to test out what I like. Still haven't decided on one yet!
@@Nomads.Nation but I love how it happens in one 16 minute vid😉😁

The non-water resistant zippers are not good. Why bother with water proofing on the bag, but not the zippers??? I am returning the one I just received. I do like the organizational aspect of the bag.
Non-waterproof zips don’t mean that your bag will get saturated if it rains, but I do agree, water resistant zippers would have made this bag much better
If non-water resistant zippers were a problem, companies won't use them.
No rational person plans on submerging these bags in water or stand in pouring rain for an extended period of time.
let's keep it real, it's a purse
A pretty badass purse
Lol this is like an uglier, and poorer made Black Ember Forge. Pretty much all you complain about for this one is no issue with the Forge smh
Your comment is like a dumber poorly worded version of a useful comment...
… this dudes whack; he’s saying some weird stuff throughout so I reported him
Weird stuff? Like what…
