Reply from JetBoatPilot regarding short SeaDek.... Thank you so much for your review! The piece of SeaDek on the port side, which you referred to in your video, could be made longer but at its current size it fits into our nesting. If we had gone longer with the part it would have required an additional sheet of material to produce it which drives the cost and subsequently the retail price up.
Well done! Both informative and entertaining. Knowing you personally, I can easily imagine your unhappiness at the now imperfect strap that holds down the cooler seat.
Thanks Jay....we have a 2020 242 SE. Appreciate your thoughts, the only sea-deck we did not put on was the rail piece, we did not like to look, but will keep a look out for any potential scuff marks. Like the quick bumper release. keep it going Jay.
Very Nice boat I like it lots of speakers 🔊 colours go good 👍 awesome video thanks for the info looking into getting a SX195 2021 19.5 feet one hopefully this summer
I've been very seriously considering guide posts because I typically launch the boat alone. We considered the porta potty, but no one wants to empty it. Lol
Hey Smoke’n Jay great video just picked up a 2015 242 limited S and my question is the center cushion that you say you don’t use very often and you put sea deck there instead can you put sea deck there and also put the Cushion there as well? What I’m wondering with the sea deck there and then you put the cushion in place does it stick up to high that it’s not even with rest of the seating?
Excellent question. Yes, you can have both the Seadek and the cushion there at the same time. At least on my boat, I can't tell the Seadek is there when I have the cushion in, it still sits flush with the rest of the seat. Congratulations on your new boat.
@@SmoknJaysGarage thanks so much for getting back to me so quick! I live up here in the great white north in Ontario Canada and we have over 250,000 lakes!!! I always wanted to put sea deck there but was always worried about the cushion because we do you use the cushion a lot On my old Yamaha..... really really appreciate you getting back to me! Not all you tuber’s respond thanks again.... I might be asking you more questions down the road lol... have a great winter and like they say in the boating world..... sea you on the water!
I'm looking for the ba k additional mats you put on and I can't seem to find them can you send part number or anything I can reference, I can't find on the website,
Great video Jay. You're just like me, very meticulous. I ordered a 2021 212SE that will be here in March. Did you purchase the seadek from a Yamaha dealer? Thanks..
Congratulations!! Yes, I bought the seadek through my Yamaha dealer. They got it from Jet Boat Pilot. I didn't buy it from JBP directly because Yamaha got it from them and didn't charge me shipping. So it saved me $10.
Great advices. When it comes to center the forward position of the wheel. Many boats, particulary sailboats with larger wheels will have a little nice rope knot right at the center. I took a small red zip-tie and tied it hard on the backside so I just have a red line at the center. Cheers from Aitutaki lagoon
Where did you get those stick on mats where you placed your left foot and right arm? I went to jet boil pilot but don’t see them. Not sure if the name is correct or if it’s written incorrectly.
Well-done, thanks Jay! But don't call them "bumpers", they're "fenders", hahaha! In some cases it is better to connect an anchor line to the boat from a point off the centre line. It can reduce wagging, or wandering on the hook, especially if it is the sole line in use (ie no stern line). Keep up the good work!
Can you do a video showing how to do everything with the tower? I just got same boat. There’s a black knob in middle under the wet sounds speakers on tower then there’s a few pins on back of tower. Not sure what these 3 things do or how to tilt and raise lower the tower. Thanks!
I don't think so. This is my second one. I had an '03 SR230 before this one. Neither has given me any issues. If my next boat isn't a yacht, it will be a Yamaha again.
I drilled the holes specifically for the fenders. I do have a detailed video of installing them and how I drilled through the boat if you're interested.

That very unfortunate to hear. I always thought it would be great working at a place that builds things I like to use, but I guess that isn't always the case.
That is super unfortunate to hear. I have been saving for 2 years to buy a Yamaha boat. What would you say the biggest concern is from a durability standpoint? Will the boat be worth half its value in 10 years?

Very good content. Do you mind me asking what bank you used for financing? If you financed. Trying to decide what bank to apply with? Thanks

Two more must have additions... Guide post for the trailer and a porta potty.

Awesome stuff man. 🙌
Thank you!
Damn ya got a beautiful family!
Thank you 😊
You should take red electrical tape and wrap one piece at the top of the steering wheel to better help distinguish straight
I had thought of that. I was afraid that the tape would start to leave sticky residue from always being in the sun.
Great video!
Thank you
The way you say "o-pinion" kills me lol
Must be my "accent". Lol
Uh-pinion.

Do you have to bottom paint these boats?
No. Most come already painted.

"I am not particularly happy about it". Most dentist line I've heard all year! xD Great video, good infotainment!
Good 👍🏻
Is this sea dek or marine mat, and if marine mat, which color did you go with? Slate gray or titanium
The added pieces are seadek. At the time, Jet Boat Pilot hadn't switched over to marinemat yet. Everything else is the factory marinemat.
Nice additions, will be doing same. On thing I did, removed the seat snaps and installed magnets. Worked out great.
Magnets are a good idea. I never thought of that.
I'm looking for the ba k additional mats you put on and I can't seem to find them can you send part number or anything I can reference, I can't find on the website,
I got them from Jet Boat Pilot. They have since switched from seadek to marine mat. However, I believe they call these pieces 7XA-7XH. Hope that helps
Have u thought about just putting a red marker on the steering wheel on the rope like a car
I did think of that, yes. But I thought a piece of tape looks like a piece of tape. And it might also get sticky in the sun.
I liked your power outlet you installed for keeping the batteries topped off.
Smok'n Jay I have an 18' 242x and thinking about underwater lights. Did you ever consider installing underwater lights?
I think they look cool, but I do very little boating after dark. So I've never seriously looked into them for myself.

My boat is in storage for the winter already. But first thing in spring I would be happy to.
The black knob is to raise/lower the bimini frame. I'm guessing to angle it to better shade at different times of day.
Jay if you were going to get a new Yamaha which one would you get?
I think I'd get the 255XD. I like the swim platform on my 242 better than that of the 25' models. But I'd love a bigger fuel tank and an extra 140hp.
@@SmoknJaysGarage Yeah I been looking at the 222 models and the FSHs
@timshull59 the 222 has some really cool features. I didn't fish, but if I did I would definitely look into the FSH.

I drilled the holes specifically for the fenders. I do have a detailed video of installing them and how I drilled through the boat if you're interested.
You could use a rope cinch clip and clip it to your front loop that you tie your boat to the trailer with and use that for an anchor
I've actually thought of that. I keep forgetting to buy a clip to hook it with.
We’re can I buy the bumper plugs?
Also how do we order the sea deck section?
The fender cleats I got from facebook.com/Marineleds/
The seadek is from jetboatpilot.com
Where did you find the fender hangers?
Https:facebook.com/marineleds/
What color SeaDek did you get to match your boat?
I got the storm grey. That's the lighter of the two. I thought it looked better than the darker one.
