Tourists should NOT be able to feed the horses ANYTHING! It's too easy to do something to the food & hurt the horses. In this day & time, I wouldn't trust people to feed the horses
Why are they allowed to come that close to the horses at all let alone pet them? These are like police horses and most people would not just go up to them. I find it kind of shocking they allow it.

I suggested that in one of your video about having the sign in different languages but seriously if a tourists sees a horse not having it or biting someone why would you go up to it? Or worse put young children right next to the horses mouth? Don’t need a sign for that

I read an article about protocol about being near the horses. It said that you should stay 3 meters away from the horses for the pictures. So, people sure don’t follow THAT! 😔
To be three meters from a horse for pictures, the photographer would have to stand in the middle of the road to get both in the frame, no? This might work in a field. What was the protocol for-was it for horse guards, some other place, or a general “about horses” context?

Honestly, until they paint a red line box surrounding the area in front of these horses, and then telling the tourists to stay outside of those lines. All of this will continue to happen. I’ve been to London a dozen times and each time I visited the horse guards. Never once did I pose for a picture around the horse or by the guards. These people have no common sense.

I think that it would make sense for them to paint an area around the guards and horses on the ground, floor and tourist can not go into the area, there also needs to be a sign bythe guard gift shop and the entrance to the stable that it's a private area for staff members only.
Horse or no horse, walking through the box is unacceptable. If more horses keep quitting, I think they could put a barrier up in front of the guards that they can open and close at the change.

Hi John, hello from Orlando, Florida, although I'm actually from Chelsea but living here now. Agree about not feeding the horses. That's been my thoughts, also, that they could be hurt by some clown. As regards the trooper who had two horses quit on him, he is definitely my favorite Lifeguard - with or without his beard - plus a couple in the Blues but all of H/Cav are to be commended for their dedication and hard work. ❤
Once again this is “not Disneyland” it seems to me that the tourist don’t understand the seriousness of the Kings Guards. It was a classic response by the husband towards his lovely wife. Glad to see that the wife knows she is nuts. I do see the kindness of this lady however it should be protocol not to feed the horse while he is doing his job. Was the highlight in this video and a good lesson learned. God bless you John thank you for another video of the Kings Guard. Cheers mate.
Hi John hope you are ok? I think they should put a sign up children must be supervised near the horses. Yesterday how the little child did not get hurt Ijust don’t know so lucky police woman told the people concerned.
I'm from the US. I'm so sorry for the guard who was attacked by the coward with a knife. Thank you for your videos. Much respect for the. ❤ guards and horses
Some horses are not fed apples for dietary reasons, they find it hard to eat when they have the bit in their mouths and should not be given whole apples to eat. Now someone will likely fall on all the sloppy mess on the ground.
I would suggest that if have a tour group license you can only bring a group of people of a certain amount to each venue. If there is a bigger group you must have two tour guides and split up the group.,also those who are filming as a business, you should also have a license even if it is a small fee to support the horse guards Museum and up keep of the facility, and feed the horses.A public building has to have a capacity for fire reasons, start to enforce it. The professionals should be aware of the rules and regulations, and the history of the building and it's purpose, also there should be more signage with pictures because most who visit don't speak English.
At 25:07 the older woman with red hair insisted on feeding the horse out of a bag she brought. When the horse dropped it on the ground she picked it up and fed him again. Then a man joined in on the other side. The soldier said nothing! They need to speak up. It makes me feel unkindly towards the trooper.
Hi John, not all horses like apples, mine doesn't anymore. Some horses have specific diets, be it due to laminitis or weight etc. it's also not easy to eat with a bit in your mouth. I 100% agree they need to ask first. I do feel for the horses that don't like to be touched, grand Ormonde hates it. I often think it's cruel to make them deal with the public. Then other horses love the attention. Many of the horses are very tactile😅😂
I believe they should not let the public within 6 feet of the horses so that the guards can do their job and regain their dignity and stature! Much respect to the guards for putting up with this insanity.
Hello John from Australia 24/7/2024 - That lady was very rude but I liked her husbands comment. Feeding the horses is s no-no. He can probably hear you're infectious laugh and I, for one, often have a giggle with you.
Apples, carrots, bread have sugar in them. Some horses are insulin resistant so they shouldn't be given them. Another reason not to feed them is it's difficult for the horse to eat with a bit in it's mouth. And really, i wouldn't want random people giving my horse anything
That lady with the apples was kind of rude. She should consider the fact that they’re active duty soldiers and you don’t talk to people that way did she ask if it was OK to give the horse an apple I’ll give you an attitude adjustment lady. Good gracious don’t be so presumptuous that you can just act that way.😮😮😮😮😮
So, that's why some of them have 2 and 3 cameras on the trooper. They have more than one channel to make money. Now it's all making since. I will stick to good ole reliable John.😊
I feel like I know quite a few of these horses & the guards thanks to you & your @LondonCityWalks. For the first time in my life I want to be standing right where you are. No more holidays at the beach when the city of London is like a living museum. I hope one day you gp down a block to show where the King was hung ! I heardd you say it once but didn't see it. Thanks for the tours!
Charles the Ist was executed on a scaffold erected between HorseGuards and the Banqueting hall opposite(the building still exists), somewhere in what is now the roadway, but likely closer to the banqueting hall. I’ve seen images of engravings of the execution with the banqueting house clearly recognisable in the background. When the re enactors come thru to commemorate it, they leave a wreath on the iron railings outside the Banqueting hall on the corner. Also Charles I was beheaded, not hung.
I work with Deaf people and a picture tells a thousand words. Simple drawings with exclamation marks about horses biting, kicking & don't touch the reins with an X over it would inform the non English speaking people
QR code is an excellent idea, if a person doesn't have one then someone with them should and the tour guides should be telling their clients what they can and can't do.
I think it should be left up to the trooper. If they want to allow an off duty trooper or a retired trooper or a policeman to give them something after asking that is there perogative. I wouldn't want some stranger giving my dog something.
I saw the second horse come thru .. it was when the Gatesman was out the front talking.. you were distracted, it came thru behind them... they need a biter out there... lol they arent actually biting, they are just enforcing a social distance... from idiots... there is only so much stupid any horse can manage in one day... XX
😂 maybe at the beginning of each shift a tourist could volunteer to stand at the front for all the other tourists to pet just to see how it feels I'm actually surprised more people aren't bit love your content it's a pleasure to watch you ❣️
Don't blame you. When John videoed the opening of parliament and was standing by the edge of the road, I saw a policeman with shoulder length hair! It looked ridiculous under his helmet
Very enjoyable video John....don't stop doing what you do...the best channel on the Kings Guards. I appreciate all that your doing. Thank you.
JOHN it might be a silly idea but one of your followers mentioned she thought someone was using one of those laser beam things, for two horses to quit in succession makes one wonder. Just saying John you never know.
Thank you John for your time filming. Your question about the sign. Yes a scan sign would help. But I'm not sure if everyone has a phone that takes photos. It's like assuming that everyone has a laptop or computer. I think that the scan plus a picture of horse sign with a red line through it. Sorry hoping that you can understand what I'm saying.
I miss Ormonde. I saw his teeth and was shocked to see that he is a veteran. At least 12 years old probably older. They retire them around 19 years so we must enjoy our most favourite fella whilst we can. Love the way he said South Carolina then added USA lmao.
@caroldocherty6810 Ormonde will be around 15 years old the horses are purchased around 3/4 then trained for a year before passing out and given their regimental names using the alphabet for each year . Letter O was 2014 . 12 years old isn't a veteran by any means , prime of life ! Retirement for each horse is different they have regular veterinary assessments , Hyderabad and Harvester recently retired at 22 years old and are loving life at The Horse Trust 😋
John, you are a truly great host but watching these videos just leaves me feeling very frustrated. It makes me loathe the public at large. I wish there were changes in policy that would greatly restrict the public. The ongoing disrespect and ignorance is repulsive. Enjoy your day!
No tourists or passers by should be feeding horses, could be anything on it. Or be giving ideas. Why do people have to crowd them so much? Horses can rear up or kickout from the back. I do not understand people thinking they have a right to do all this touching. They act so entitled its sickening. Some one will get hurt badly soon its high numbers around them all the time.😡
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the couple from South Carolina. Here in the US we PETA ( People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals) is there an organization like that in the UK.
Flushed cheeks can be a sign of overheating, yes. Also, if a person is sweating but then at some point *stops sweating. Dizziness, fainting. There may be more but those are the main ones I recall without looking up all the symptoms.
@Snookscat That happened to me when I was gardening. Thank goodness my neighbor saw me & brought me over to the shade & gave me water! I also stuck my feet in his little pond. I miss him.🙁
Signs along the likes of road signs. e,g, Horse showing open mouth and teeth and person nest to the horse with a danger sign, picture of horse head and the reins with red line through it, picture of a horse kicking, then language doesn't matter. Just a thought.

@@anndenovan9026The council can put barriers up on public property. I wonder if they could do something similar to what they do with the bollards-something retractable? But then, even the bollards stopped working for a time, a while ago, so maybe not.
@@SnookscatNot barriers in front of the horses, they get spooked..they will bolt forwards…some one mentioned a line painted on the sidewalk, people would have to stay behind it..might work.
When the trooper said no and she tried to feed the horse with an apple
Thanks
Very, very kind of you Lesley - thank you! ❤️❤️
Afternoon John , tourists like these should be banned. Horses and soldiers are not toys or attractions you can pick up on a shelf. Be respectful at all times
Go to the Zoo right?!!!
@@bobbiebastin5423 Yes, all Touris here! 🤣
It's funny of the picture of the apple by the horse poop. Because in America we call horse poop road apples😂
I agree! Ormonde should have some form of memorabilia! He is a crack up! 😂
A small plush Ormonde would be a great money maker for the Guards.
@@GloriaStagmerA plushie of Ormonde with his teeth bared!
Smiler and his sly smile is back great video 😊
I love that the Guard had a good laugh.
They definitely shouldn’t be fed whole apples when they have a bit in their mouths. Too many apples can also make horses sick.
She asked, it was from a closed container. Troopers said ok.
No, especially not a whole apple when they have a bitten their mouth! Go to a petting zoo.
The horse is saying let’s get going.
Yes I was thinking the same thing last week! Great idea😊
I still can't tell one guardsmen/women & troopers from another. For me the chinstraps & helmets block them. I don't know how y'all 😉do it!🤔
Hello John from Australia 24/7/2024 - That lady was very rude but I liked her husbands comment.
A QR code is a great thought! As you said... How many would actually use it.
John it's a shame some youtubers have no dignity or sense of right or wrong
That lady with the apples was kind of rude. She should consider the fact that they’re active duty soldiers and you don’t talk to people that way did she ask if it was OK to give the horse an apple I’ll give you an attitude adjustment lady. Good gracious don’t be so presumptuous that you can just act that way.😮😮😮😮😮
So, that's why some of them have 2 and 3 cameras on the trooper. They have more than one channel to make money. Now it's all making since. I will stick to good ole reliable John.😊
I meant sense not since😁😁😁
I wish they were NOT allowed to feed the horses. !!!!!!😡
I think the horses might disagree.
You are my favorite Guard Horse information source. ❤
@@paulinemegson8519 thank you.I just read that he was walked out of one of the upper windows of the B.H. right on to the scaffold.
The Q R code is a fantastic idea. It’s up to them then.
I work with Deaf people and a picture tells a thousand words. Simple drawings with exclamation marks about horses biting, kicking & don't touch the reins with an X over it would inform the non English speaking people
Non English speaking people have mobile phones, so they can get apps that translate the written or spoken word, so no excuses
QR code is an excellent idea, if a person doesn't have one then someone with them should and the tour guides should be telling their clients what they can and can't do.
Morning John people need to back up and get out of the guard and horses face
I don’t think anyone should be allowed to feed the horses. There are some nasty people around that might feed them something horrible.
I think it should be left up to the trooper. If they want to allow an off duty trooper or a retired trooper or a policeman to give them something after asking that is there perogative. I wouldn't want some stranger giving my dog something.
John, just recalled: a follower commented that it is hard for horses to eat with the bit in it's mouth.
Yes, some things get caught in the bit, some bits are worse for that than others.
I saw the second horse come thru .. it was when the Gatesman was out the front talking.. you were distracted, it came thru behind them... they need a biter out there... lol they arent actually biting, they are just enforcing a social distance... from idiots... there is only so much stupid any horse can manage in one day... XX
😂 maybe at the beginning of each shift a tourist could volunteer to stand at the front for all the other tourists to pet just to see how it feels I'm actually surprised more people aren't bit love your content it's a pleasure to watch you ❣️
I cant believe she didn't ask the Trooper if she could feed the horse, she just shoved it in his mouth right?!!!! OMG!!!
QR code is an excellent idea John. Then no excuses.
Sorry I am of the old school vet here. Beards in the army, not for me...
Don't blame you. When John videoed the opening of parliament and was standing by the edge of the road, I saw a policeman with shoulder length hair! It looked ridiculous under his helmet
Very enjoyable video John....don't stop doing what you do...the best channel on the Kings Guards. Your debate about feeding the horses...apples...its a nice jester..BUT....no people shouldn't feed the horses because there are too many people that might harm these beautiful horses...wouldn't want that to happen...thank you again for such lovely videos.....Best wishes from Eileen 😊
Glad that awful post was removed. It was slander really.
The lack of common sense exhibited by some 'UA-camrs' is truly staggering.

Ha, can't remember when we last had fog in London. I think I was a child when we had the 'Clean Air Act'. But that old song keeps the memory alive. It will live forever I expect.

I am new to your channel and checking out all your videos. You are a very funny man I love your sarcasm. Unbelievable the ignorance of some people, with their "me first" attitude. I greatly appreciate your video's because I am deadly allergic to horses, yes it is a thing...lol I carry an EpiPen every where I go. I am from the Northern part of Ontario Canada. When the troopers run out of horses they stand in the box without a horse ;)

Are we taking bets on which of the human troopers who nips? :D

QT code would be great. Of course, you realize they won’t pay attention to that either. Yikes.
JOHN it might be a silly idea but one of your followers mentioned she thought someone was using one of those laser beam things, for two horses to quit in succession makes one wonder. Just saying John you never know.
Wow .... that never occurred to me. Will speak with the Police when I'm back at Horse Guards!
Man, I hope not. Why do some idiots seem so determined to ruin things for literally everyone else?
@Snookscat
That happened to me when I was gardening. Thank goodness my neighbor saw me & brought me over to the shade & gave me water! I also stuck my feet in his little pond. I miss him.🙁
@@jenniferrandolph4115 I’m glad someone was there to help and you’re okay!
Thank you John.
Signs along the likes of road signs. e,g, Horse showing open mouth and teeth and person nest to the horse with a danger sign, picture of horse head and the reins with red line through it, picture of a horse kicking, then language doesn't matter. Just a thought.
If that South Carolinian man’s wife watches UA-cam he’s gonna be in big trouble. That was pretty dang hilarious.
