Good morning from here in Raleigh, NC USA John! The talk you had with the former Trooper was so informative! I was born in 75 and turn 50 in October. Wow! Fascinating insight! Do you happen to know what’s up with no Q10? Hope all is well for you with the start of the New Year. Was wondering just yesterday when you’d be back! 🌸✌️💜
Hiya, John. I am one of the few who do not have instagram. So you being MIA was a real concern!! Thank goodness you are back! I’ve a brain tumor and get to forget about medical things whilst watching your videos and learning about the Guards history. You brighten my day and are so darn interesting. Your wit along with your compassion is why you’ve so many viewers. Please continue to do you and thank you for all you do.🤗
Welcome back from your vacation. Hope you had a great time but, I must tell you how I missed your daily insights. No other channels have the charisma and charm that you have. ❤
You are NOT allowed to go away! I missed my daily first fix of Horse Guards, and I find the other 'presenters' ' work unpalatable. They_do_not_speak, not one word! Arrgh! You know, you were the introduction of me watching a channel. I've been around YT much longer than that, of course, but I hadn't watched any videos of 1 hour 9 minute lengths. Thank you for coming back; just don't go away again!!
A big huge welcome back John and I also agree with the above comment. I needed my horse fix so also watched some other videos but nothing to your standard so once again welcome back ❤
So great to have you back. There is no other channel at Horseguards worth watching. You are the only one. Loved the former Lifeguard. What an interesting conversation with him. Great respect to him. Lovely to see it quieter there as well. Thank you for being back. I really missed my “visits” to Horseguards.
Some of us thought sure you wuz in the pokey being gone that long 😮 A hat was passed around for your bail , but it came back without the $5 I put in to start . ..😅
It is because you actually go out of your way to speak to people that we get such nuggets of knowledge such as that obtained from that 1977 Lifeguard. It’s what makes your channel stand out.
Here is a delighted little boy who is so excited to be here. Now he has disappeared. You know young people are all so beautiful but they just don’t know it. It’s 7-10 am in Australia Brisbane.
Well, that was very interesting. The past Guard, the 68 year-old gentleman saying how much the guards have changed since he was in. It’s a sign of the times things change sometimes for the better sometimes it’s just has to be.😯😯😯😯😯😯 It’s just the way it has to be for the animal safety. You don’t want someone manhandling the horses and if that trooper uniform has to be spic and span and shiny with all pride in the world. You don’t want somebody touching your boots and your uniform to mess them up. It’s a lot of work the polish that brass and all that patent leather to keep it shiny.❤❤❤
Welcome back. Hope you had a great time off! Was remarkable when the trooper said good morning. Really enjoyed all the different conversations today. Very interesting information from the older life guard. I was born in 73 and things have changed so much. Some good, some inevitable, some bad. Glad to see the troopers were validated. I had no worries they weren't ignoring orders. Have a lot of military friends and even now they dont feel like explaining behaviors to anyone.
Quick note John, Thank you for mentioning that the guards have discretion to caution the visitors about the rules concerning the box. I have tried to explain occasionally on some of the Horse Guard channels the very same thing. It's maddening to see viewers on the channel get almost vicious about the guards and their duty. I'm sure you have seen them. Some calling the guards stupid or an idiot! I've even seen some claim they are not doing their job and need to be fired! It boggles my mind that some people are so unhappy that they come to a peaceful spot like this and find anger and criticism. Please, carry on with explaining. The guards have better things to do than babysit tourists who often don't know better because of the language barriers. I trust the guards to know when the situation calls for it. Thank you! Carry on!!
@swissuz . Well said , I gave up some time ago trying to explain that the Troopers can use their own judgement , those who make the vicious derogatory comments will not listen , they are such angry little souls who choose to direct their anger at people who cannot respond ( the Troopers ) telling them how to do their jobs without knowing the facts ! Is it any wonder some Troopers have said they don't want to be filmed ! These people talk about respect but show none themselves ! Thank you and have a good day 😊
I'm a born and bred Londoner and it's so nice to see dear old London and how it's changed over the years since I moved to Northampton 46 years ago your videos bring back memories thank you John.
Welcome back, John! I sincerely hope you are rested, recharged, and raring to go. I’m 30 minutes in and so far it is quite obvious that you are raring to go! 😂😂😂 I’ve missed you. More to come, I’m quite certain. With much love and appreciation upon your return, from Royal Oak, Michigan USA ✨♥️🇺🇸🐴🐴🇬🇧♥️✨
John, remember when you filmed the Blues loading horses at the back and one horse was adamant about not getting in the horsey wagon? That was Vyse. The horses have recently returned from their winter holiday and probably look a different color because they’ve been clipped.
So good to have you back. My days just weren't the same without your videos & commentary. I was so desperate to see Horseguards that I stooped so low & watched a couple others... sorry. They just didn't do it for me. So boring without the commentary, your wit & sarcasm. Welcome back!
Brilliant video…….loved the interaction with the former lifeguard and his family. …..it added a wealth of information to how things used to be. John, you have the knack of being in the right place at the right time.
Been waiting patiently for your return John. Hope you had a wonderful break. The Big Ben sounds amazing. I don't have instagram. But good to be back with the mighty Guards and their horses: Kiwi
I recently discovered uploads from people of the beautiful horses and the guards and have been fascinated by it. I am in Minnesota. I just subscribed to you because of all of the one's I have watched, you are so respectful and informative. 😊
37:24 yes sir, things change over the years. And I'm sure things are better now than in the 70's. I'm glad you had a conversation with him, you both learned from each other.
So happy you are back 😊 Loved the chat with the former guardsman, a very interesting. I love you channel, I’ll never get to London, but you have shown me so much love it! Thank you 🙂
What a charming and courteous the COH was to say good morning, this gatesman is brilliant,,and the former life guard was very informative, brilliant video, see you soon ❤
I'm more prone to quiet chuckles, but 2 minutes into the video and I'm laughing out loud at your cheeky comments!😂😂😂 That's what keeps me coming back to your channel, and the gorgeous horses too, of course. But, without your narrative, I probably would have lost interest. You always manage to brighten my day. Too bad you have to hold back due to YT restraints, you'd probably have me roaring at your comments.
Welcome back, John. I've so missed your narration. Always a giggle😄 It's such a fine line to maintain the security & authority of a military facility & a wonderful reputation for the regiment without upsetting tourists, thus international relations. The Troopers and Police Officers do a magnificent job❤🤍💙 Nope. I don't agree with the former Lifeguard. No need to say loud enough for the serving Trooper to hear the comment about cleaning his kit. It's ok to have an opinion, not ok to be dismissive of current serving military members, who are currently defending you.
🇬🇧🇺🇦🇿🇲 Hello John welcome back. You were sorely missed. Pleased you had a great holiday & batteries recharged. The conversation with the retired Lifeguard was really informative and interesting... thank you. What a suprise for the NCO saying good morning too. Wonderful. .
I enjoyed the chat with the retired military trooper. I can understand at my age (56) We don't always enjoy the changes. I guess that is part of aging and life. We don't have to like it but I personally do my best to adapt. 😊
Welcome back John! Lovely morning for HCAV and all of your viewers. That "Good Morning" from the Lance Corporal was unexpected and truly delightful, especially with the smile that accompanied it. Made me smile too! So very nice to "meet" a Life Guard from the "olden" days. I'm not sure why he was angry, but I guess some people don't like change. It was very interesting to listen to him tho. I did enjoy that interaction. I love these days when there aren't many people there and you can actually move around without panic setting in. Don't really like the crowds but then I don't have to be in the thick of it. I am happy you are back and *normalcy* can resume. Love and blessings from Missouri, USA.
Yay from USA ❤ John is back. Oh I’m so happy to hear your sweet voice, best UA-cam channel ever. Ty for everything you do and I appreciate you very much. Just made my day. The beginning you were hilarious with the commentary, love it ❤
Hey John so good to hear your voice again !! Glad to hear you haven't lost your cheeky sense of humour!! Lol! Hope you've enjoyed your break, you have been missed 😊 Looking forward to watching your videos in 2025 ! Cheers John 👍✅ 🇬🇧 xx
Wasn't always the best time back in the 70's I lived through them as a newly married young wife. People did work harder during that time without a doubt but things do change. I always liken this to those in F1 racing which I love because back then the racers had hardly any Health and safety and when they Crashed they knew they could die! Today deaths are so rare because of change which is so much better for the drivers despite anyone saying " it was much better and entertaining back then" . Life moves on and sometimes for the better and sometimes it can be disastrous but these guards still work hard and why not improve on the past if its better for the horses and them and they still look amazing just like he probably did in the 70's. We do appreciate these men so much back then and now.
Welcome back John! Regarding the change in horse color - in the winter, some horses can grow really furry coats, and since they are regularly ridden, they will clip them so they don't overheat, and then keep them blanketed when in the stable. For some weird reason with some horses, their fur under a clipped coat can look to be a different color than their regular summer coat 🙂

John, Thank you for a superb video. Your conversation with the former Life Guard was informative and adds to our knowledge of the Kings Guard. Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year.
Well you certainly picked an interesting morning for your first 2025 video didn't you 😊. Regimental change over , a lovely moment with the COH smiling and saying " good morning " that's a first 😀. The poor models freezing their bits off for a photo shoot with a horse , then the very interesting chat with the ex Life Guard about how much things have changed since the late '70's , that's the nature of life though we may not always agree that change is a good thing but we must learn to live with the fact that life moves on and living in the past isn't always a good thing . Northumberland may have recently returned from a winter break at Melton Mowbray and will have been clipped of his fluffy muddy winter coat 😀 . I do hope we've heard the last of the complaints that Troopers " aren't doing their job " please let's make 2025 a positive time and reach that magic 100 K . Thank you 😀
WELCOME BACK !! I was getting anxious, worrying that you were really gone for good. I finally saw on Instagram that you'd be back eventually. Happy day today 🤩😁🤩

Here is a delighted little boy who is so excited to be here. Now he has disappeared. You know young people are all so beautiful but they just don’t know it. It’s 7-10 am in Australia Brisbane.
What a wonderful gesture from that Blues Trooper during the change of Guard saying Good Morning to the tourists with a smile as he does his job
Yes! Thank goodness your back I really missed your channel. Thanks again, John ❤
Welcome Back. Had major horse guards withdrawal. Glad you are back.

Welcome back, John, and Happy New Year. That was a fascinating conversation with the former Life Guard. A top guy, indeed.
I was wondering where you were, I don't do Instagram or tic toc., really don't like either so it's good to see you back
What an interesting talk with the retired Trooper from the 70s, you always get the best interviews John great first day back.
It’s great to see you back John

Hi John I’m glad you’re back and so am I 😂 glad to see you back and making good content as always! The pre maturely jokes 😅
Thank goodness you’re back, John. I’ve missed your videos. I’m not long been a member, but I’m surprised how much I missed you.
Yay! You're back! I know you're entitled to days off, but I really missed my Horse Guards fix! LOL Hope you had a good time away!
