  • I covered this lock in video 10, but someone commented that they were having trouble opening their lock using that "wiggle" method, so I decided to do a video showing an alternative method to get into this lock (if you've lost your combination).

      LOL yes the 33 seconds was because I knew the lock. :D :D If I didn't know the lock, I still would have approached it in the same way ... starting from the binding side, and putting all 4 wheels in gates, and then seeing how wheels 1 & 2 only had one gate while 3 & 4 had many ... and I know from other locks that gates that have a "middle" one are more likely to be the real gate. I came across this method while trying the 'indirect" method you taught me, but with this lock it wasn't working, and I was feeling gates. :D Thank you once again my friend, and thank you for your support. :D

    I struggled for hours on decoding a similar lock. (number wheels not alpha) I watch every video and still struggled. UNTIL I turned the whole thing around and decoded it in reverse. My hands were actually sore from the constant tension I applied during the process. Doing it in reverse did the trick for me.

    • @Swynndla
      @Swynndla  2 роки тому

      Well done! ... and thanks for the tip! Could you start from the other end without turning the whole thing around?

      @@Swynndla I certainly tried that and it did not work for me. For some reason just doing it (with opening side on left) did it for me in a very short time as opposed to the multiple hours spent trying to do it the 'normal' way. Ha

    Very interesting how each lock can require a different method to get the open.
    Thanks for this video cheers matey

      Thank you PW! :D :D I used to think I should remember the different methods for each type of lock, but now-a-days I tend to attack locks the same way to begin with, and then try other things if it's not working. It's basically using the methods that Potti314 taught me in his excellent videos. It means that I can attach any new combo lock with an arsenal of techniques. :D

      LOL good advice :D :D ... and thanks for the tip about right to left ... some locks bind first on the other side. Well done for figuring this out. :D

    Ok, but my bike lock from 6th grade is kinda stiff and none of the methods that I've seen over the past hour of looking DOESN'T work. I've had this bike lock for 6 years and its been in my room for the last 5. I only used it during 6th grade and I can't find a method of opening it. Ngl I have some anger issues from my dad's side so it doesn't really help my situation :/

    • @Swynndla
      @Swynndla  2 роки тому

      hehe yea these things require patience ... but also your lock might be a bit too stiff for things to work. What I would try next is a modified indirect method, where instead of testing the very next wheel to see if it's hard to turn under tension, test two wheels away instead.

  • @davidbrandel1311
    @davidbrandel1311 4 роки тому

    When I spin the wheels around none of the positions feel any different from the rest.

    • @Swynndla
      @Swynndla  4 роки тому

      Is it that same lock? Are you pulling both ends of the lock (as if you're trying to open it) to create the desired tension? There has to be tension in order to feel any differences between the positions (unless you're using the "wiggle" method, as then you don't need tension). You might also like to check out the Indirect method described in my video 136.
