They aren't "average race cars" they can go just as fast as the Mach 5 also if you pay attention to the Mach 5's speedometer at the beginning his car's speedometer reads 250KPH or 155 MPH and as the series progresses Pops upgrades the car and it gets faster the speedometer reads (in The Fastest Car on Earth Part 2) 360KPH or 223.7MPH which is close to how fast the Ford GT40 MKIV could go and what's even more interesting is that the GRX speedometer (in part 2 apparently the speedometers are different in both part 1 and 2) reads 440KPH or 273.4MPH so Speed is up against some fast as hell cars in the show. His first rival "Skull Duggery" drives a Ferrari 365 P2 Spyder.
That’s awesome! I would catch it every once in a while, but never watched the entire thing till now. I even had to get the collectors DVDs with the life size Speed head.
@@TheMach5Museum oooooooh sounds interesting. I know that the howwheels from the movie are cool. I love that they have accessories. I also have a model kit that I want to restore
The Episode is, " The fastest Car on Earth" You left out the last two words of the title. Good basic history though. I always wondered how his surname was to be pronounced? I found the 1:24 scale model of the Mach 5, but not the GRX yet? I do have the Johnny Lightening Shooting star & original GRX though. Besides a couple tee shirts. Great stuff from my youth. And the 60's saw a lot of social upheaval and assassinations I grew up with. So the show followed the times.
Just some feedback friend, when you are trying to do a documentary type story like this, I advise you try to avoid random rants and tangents. you labeled this as the history, however you went on a tangent summarizing an episode. while It is clear your intent was to display Spridle's role, that is not core to the history. that is more suited to a summary, or casting section. If you intend to branch off to a side point like with Initial D, ensure that the jump feels organic to the flow of your narrative, the positioning made it come off as an interupt rather than any part of the history. Use outside information like that to bolster your message rather than detract from it. Keep up the workand you'll improve, always try to learn more and you can make better and better content. Thanks for sharing Speed Racer with more people. PS: Takumi Drives a TRUENO, NOT a Levin. two versions of the same car. Takumi's friend Itsuki drives a Levin, buying it because he thought it was a Trueno.
not a show I would regularly watch I think it was Spritle and Chim-Chim just killed it for me as they there totally annoying as hell. I will admit I did like the live-action movie it was intense on HD and 3D too
Spridle is annoying, but I gotta say that the 80’s had worse kid or side characters than him. Snarf is the worst. Luckily Chim Chim isn’t bad at all. I haven’t watched the live action movie yet, but I do have it ready to watch. Lately I’ve been watching other shows for later reviews. I’m planning on getting the Hot Wheels figures for SR The Movie.
I never realized that the gadgets were Bond like. No wonder I liked them
My Favorite episodes of Speed Racer are The Most Dangerous Race and The Fastest Car on Earth.
This was so good! Very well delivered and commentated. I look forward to the next part. Take care!

Great video bro! I enjoyed speed racer when i was a kid. Looking forward to part 2. That gut punch from racer x 2:32 😂

my brother was exposed to speed racer when they showed this on MTV back in the late 80s. he considered this his first ANIME.
That’s awesome. I always think it’s funny that before DBZ US Anime was either “Cartoons” or “Japanimation” lol
Mega Man V OST ❤️
Don't forget about "Speed Racer Lives" and "Mach Girl".
That was a fun video. Looking forward to the next parts.
Thank you! It was a lot of fun to make and research. I may make it a regular thing. :D
Where is part two this was very informative!!!!
@@RazHolly i know you're moving and taking care of a lot, but is a part 2 on the schedule?
Wow, neither Race Against the Mammoth Car nor Race For Revenge made the list?
The Elvis film Spinout, not Viva Las Vegas, had the white car used for the Mach 5. Speed's look is also based on Elvis.
Loved this! If you need help on part two, I would love to help! I’m a collector and historian, feel free to DM on Twitter!
Thank you! I’m trying to collect other Speed Racer toys so I can add to the Speed racer video series

Thanks for the tips, You’re 100% right :D
He's just pointing out how dumb Spritle and Chim-Chim were... and, rightly so.
The Mach 5 couldn't hold the GRX's jockstrap.
Speed Racer also appeared in a commercial for the 1996 Volkswagen GTI:

Speed isn't a cheater, the other racers are merely stupid and lazy for not putting similar devices in their cars. Remember the Mammoth car?
Lol!!!! Very true. The officials allow the Mach V to race with all its gadgets, and they know it because the car is well known in the series
Im from Costa Rica and my language is the spanish
2:06 you mean in latin america, except brasil right?
because over here its also speed racer.
Dude, where is Trixy???
2:10 but... he's not even moving his mouth.
