They do not use wide shots often, as if they constantly try to mislead u of the doubles and whatnot 4. They give A LOT emphasis on the constant action whereas simple pauses and exhales in between increase the tension and make the action more believable/suspensfull. For example you clearly take a look at the Terminator getting it's gun, reloading, aiming etc. He also is not in a hurry when he is going to shoot the frozen T-1000. These are key moments where not only the action is suspended in time it seems much more likeable to happen. It seems REAL and authentic, things that are lacking in movies nowadays. 3:20 - the forklift tine through the window of the truck! I've probably watched this movie 20 times and I've never noticed that. This is why the movie feels so great. It's packed with 100s of little details like this that you don't notice but your brain picks up.
When they know villain freezes in liquid nitrogen they could have permanently freeze the temporarily frozen body using some more liquid nitrogen. Arnold Schwarzenegger could have lived happily with his new human family.
2:11 all action scenes are excellent but I recall watching this scene as a 13 year old kid back in the day. Damnn this shooting scene truly stuck in my memory. The things the Terminator do to keep the mother and child alive. Incredible.
It's the most satisfying shootouts in movie history. The way he unloads a whole M16 cartridge at point-blank range, it's like peeling off the tape of your brand new television..... Hmmmmmmmmm.....
I just will never get over how good this movie looks.. To this day, the special effects are still great, even though it's over 30 yers old now.. Just blows my mind.
My man emptied the whole clip into the T1000's face, jumps to get a grip of the steering wheel, turns the steering wheel to make rhe truck flip. Such a badass sequence. The action in this movie is absolutely top notch. Epitome of a action movie.
If Terminator did NOT shoot the T1000, it would have taken him alot longer to thaw and continue the pursuit....but then we wouldn't have gotten the epic showdown
well yeah...... Because walking up to him and placing a tank over him with Liquid N2 inside of it , while saying Asta La Vista....... Baby wouldnt have the same effect
If you watch the extended version, the T1000 starts to glitch after reassembling itself. They took these bits out of the final cut, which I thought was a mistake: it gave you a sense that the T1000 could indeed be defeated, somehow.
i would have picked up all the fragmented pieces and mailed them to random locations around the world so that he couldnt recombine, i would have ensured that i mailed them via refrigerated storage LOL
T-800 did not know exact specs of T-1000 he shoot him with intention to destroy it. It did partially worked as mentioned by others T-1000 start experiencing multiple defects in his system after the reassembly. I think it was important point of the movie and it's a pity that it was cut from the theatrical release. I bet James Cameron did not want to show any vulnerability of the T-1000 until the very end. Most directors would be satisfied with the T-1000 death at that point but not James Cameron.
Everyone who works with Cameron tells he's a ruthless perfectionist and you can see what that brings when watching such scenes. He visually creates nothing short of sheer perfection.
Cameron’s mastery of techniques is so impressive: he seamlessly cuts between live action, rear projection on set, prosthetics, real actors, stunt people and miniatures, all driven by character. Masterclass.
This movie is already a classic. 30 years have passed since its launch. It's the best Terminator movie I've seen so far. I am already in history for children and adults.
Little details that a lot of directors of action films ignore now-a-days. Watch the entire chase scene, notice that the direction of movement never completely switches. It's always from right to left. The shots of the vehicles going straight towards the camera or directly away are considered direction neutral. So what I mean by it not switching is that it never goes from right to left to left to right between scenes. It might seem like a minor thing, but actually it helps your mind keep track of where everyone is in relation to each other and it keeps the film going in a consistent direction. It's almost an art that is starting to get lost. A lot of modern films ignore this because it can be more difficult to get good shots of all of the actors' faces if they maintain this rule. And apparently star power and showing the actors' faces are more important than anything else now-a-days... But James Cameron is a master of the craft and when you watch his movies closely you see this.
I bet nothing beat the peoples' reactions back then. Back before people were so saturated with special effects and so dumbed down with weird TV shows, movies, and music.
This science fiction film had marvellous special effects and the whole movie very compelling. No one can beat this masterpiece. Thumbs up for James Cameron.
@The Mad Atheist I agree, that was funny. His look was like he was saying "I broke a piece off and now I won't go back together even though I'm liquid metal." Either way I'm sure he would have thawed out fast even if Arnold Schwarzenegger didn't shoot him.
The recreated this in dark fate on the plane where its face grows back and my god the cgi vs practicals has never been more apparent. This was so fucking classic
The T800 may simulate and learn expressions and emotions but the way he climb on to the truck and unloads the whole mag, he looks genuinely pissed off.
Still to this day, my favorite movie of all time. I rewatch it at least twice a year. I was in first grade when it was released, and I didn't actually watch it till freshman year of high school. It's a movie that has retained the personal number one spot over the years
Whats incredible about Jim Cameron is his confidence of vision. His DP had said "I was hoping it turned out on screen the way we shot it" and Cameron replied with some surprise that "I knew it'd turn out exactly the way we shot it."
some may not realise, that the stuntman (Peter Kent) actually went from the pickup to the truck cab without harness , wires or supports while moving at speed down the road. the practical effects are just stunning then again everything is
No, they could have swerved and tried to crash to the either side (but the truck would take them out). He could have used the brakes thinking the truck has been toppled. But then the truck would crush them again. "Go straight!" is decent advice.
When they know villain freezes in liquid nitrogen they could have permanently freeze the temporarily frozen body using some more liquid nitrogen. Arnold Schwarzenegger could have lived happily with his new human family.
I’ve watched this movie potentially thousands of times already… I have so much of it memorized. I’m cheering like a kid every time Arnold shoots this guy. I love it. It’s rare that a movie gets a 10/10, but this movie is it.
It's not just the practical effects (really ramming the truck into the guard rail) or the actors (no one has that cold stare like Robert Patrick), it's also the music. Many movies today are sorely lacking in good music that puts you in the moment. Good composers know how to use music to not only set the mood, but play with your emotions and your feelings. Listen to this scene again and follow how the music continues to gradually increase in speed and beat, right up to the end when it finally stops. You might just be holding your breath when the terminator pulls out his pistol and delivers that line.
Just phenomenal for the time and perfect casting, when practical effects are done well CGI cant come close, I miss the time when terminator films were awesome and not shit as in after 1991.
I think it’s pretty phenomenal that this was made by a director that was still fairly new to the film industry at the time. This movie still holds up today and I’m sure the effects would at least look decent in today’s day and age
an incredible film, still holds up 31 years later. i was born on June 7th 1991, this film released in theaters on July 3rd 1991. so i was way too young to even know about it but i think the first time i did see it was around 1996? would love for them to re release it to theaters cause i would love to see it on the big screen.
What I feel often doesn't get enough appreciation are the night shots, and how beautiful they look. I imagine it's more demanding to have to pull an actor out this late, that's why we don't see em much to this extent, but they are worth the effort.
the writing, the acting, the soundtracks, the scripting are just phenomenal. its a masterpiece, no wonder it still holds up until today.

What, you mean you're not a fan of the Michael Bay Transformers movies? ;)
Well said
T2 is my pick for the greatest action movie ever made
Which scene in Dredd are you mentioning? I loved that entire movie
@@ec7888 I did not refer to a specific scene. It is just well-crafter as a whole with attention to detail. It is deffinitely not as ambitious as T2 but it is well-thought throughtout and Dredd is constantly stays focused, reloads his gun, uses his gadgets etc...
3:20 - the forklift tine through the window of the truck! I've probably watched this movie 20 times and I've never noticed that. This is why the movie feels so great. It's packed with 100s of little details like this that you don't notice but your brain picks up.
Damn, I've seen this movie thousands of times in Spanish, now I find out that the phrase was also in Spanish lol
that's how it is. I thought that in the English version it would say something like "see you baby"@user-he7wq1ez2q
@NoBetterBentley No, it´s "Sayonara baby", at least in the Spain version.
I watched this at a midnight screening opening night and when Arnie said that iconic line the audience went crazy!
2:23 Godammit that moment, with that music... AWESOME !!!!
1:28 that pop noise as he shoots the grenade launcher never sounded so good 😆
2:24 this scene gave me goosebumps.
Its prolly one of the most badass scene in movie's history
I believe so, it was good.
Ikr imagine being confident enough to turn a bus with liquid nitrogen
4:00 I can’t believe how well most of the special effects look in this movie today in 2023.
We're here for 4:32.
One of the best Schwarzenegger sendoffs ever.
@@ovisatmaThat will shock it for a few moments.
No marvel can beat this movie , story line action and casting are dope
who's Marvel, they cant even come close
Disney-Marvel movies are pieces of cr*p compared to this.
This is the type of comment I would expect to see on a dark knight trilogy video
Marvel is just utter trash compared to this absolute timeless masterpiece.
I feel so bad for today's kids who have marvel to "look forward to" instead of films like this
I just will never get over how good this movie looks.. To this day, the special effects are still great, even though it's over 30 yers old now.. Just blows my mind.
30 years old still looks like future movie .
My man emptied the whole clip into the T1000's face, jumps to get a grip of the steering wheel, turns the steering wheel to make rhe truck flip.
Such a badass sequence. The action in this movie is absolutely top notch. Epitome of a action movie.
They're called MAGS.
100 percent agreed. Never get tired of watching this masterpiece movie.
I can still watch it and it doesn't get old. Never.
Watched this movie so many times in my childhood. I still cry at the ending because of the music. Eighties, Nineties were the best times in humanity.
Debatable
The tragedy is we didn't really know it at the time.
60s and 70s but I'll agree that anytime is better than today!
Very debatable
@@bigdaddystovepipe3314segregation was still alive and going on the 60s 😂
If Terminator did NOT shoot the T1000, it would have taken him alot longer to thaw and continue the pursuit....but then we wouldn't have gotten the epic showdown
They honestly should have taken the frozen body and throw it into the lava to kill him permanently...
well yeah...... Because walking up to him and placing a tank over him with Liquid N2 inside of it , while saying Asta La Vista....... Baby
wouldnt have the same effect
This movie was way ahead of its time. Love this movie as a kid and still rock this movie from time 2 time .
これ子供の時見たとき凄いなぁって思った。
今見てもやっぱりカッコイイ!!!
これ映画館で観た時感動したなぁ。懐かしい。
ロバートパトリックがカッコよかった。
Great point, psychologically, it keeps things consistent for the viewer and commands their attention, exactly 💯
A very good point. It's likely subtleties like this that engrain certain scenes more thoroughly in the memory.
A movie that came out about 30yrs ago still amazes me.. still interesting .. a classic is just a classic
I saw this at the theater the week it opened in ‘91. To this day, probably the best movie I ever saw theatrically.
I bet nothing beat the peoples' reactions back then. Back before people were so saturated with special effects and so dumbed down with weird TV shows, movies, and music.
this movie took my breadth away-first time i saw it.The special effects were so ahead of time
Every peace of this movie is pure gold!
This science fiction film had marvellous special effects and the whole movie very compelling. No one can beat this masterpiece. Thumbs up for James Cameron.
He sure did knailed it.
Truly unbelievable. Beats 99% of action movies since then.
Nothing can beat Terminator 2 but Mad Max Fury Road has best action set pieces in modern films..
I like how the t1000 had the look of shock as his right arm breaks off.
Hé was not in Shock
It seprised him
Ye he's also an idiot for opening his amount now his inside will be frozen too
I think he was just like ( O .O).
@The Mad Atheist I agree, that was funny. His look was like he was saying "I broke a piece off and now I won't go back together even though I'm liquid metal." Either way I'm sure he would have thawed out fast even if Arnold Schwarzenegger didn't shoot him.
@@FlamingBeat bitch he don’t got no insides he’s equivalent to a human shaped block of metal when he’s in solid form
One of the very best movies ever! Saw it in 1991 when I was playing with my band in Florida.
I always liked how his head turned with the beat while riding the semi like a surfboard.
Still can't believe it was 1991. I was born that year. I only got a smartphone after 20 yrs. The graphics was just so real
One of the best movie ever made of all times .
Best bit in entire film: Terminator blasting and unloading a full magazine into the T-1000's face!
Ъ\\ halloween Game.=
ua-cam.com/video/K4V6bqkhkKA/v-deo.html
The recreated this in dark fate on the plane where its face grows back and my god the cgi vs practicals has never been more apparent. This was so fucking classic
After saying “hasta la vista baby”
The T800 may simulate and learn expressions and emotions but the way he climb on to the truck and unloads the whole mag, he looks genuinely pissed off.
@@Joshua_N-A He also looked a bit shocked, probably because it didn't expect the T-800 to pull such a tactic.
Master piece!! “Hasta la vista baby” 😁
Still to this day, my favorite movie of all time. I rewatch it at least twice a year. I was in first grade when it was released, and I didn't actually watch it till freshman year of high school. It's a movie that has retained the personal number one spot over the years
Twice a year ....must go on 4 times a week in my house ...
Same sheet man. I was born at 1981 ..
I loved those blue night scenes from late 80s and early 90s movies... so good and moody. Miss them dearly today.
Its actually by design, the terminator scenes have blue lighting, while the human scenes have golden yellow lighting
Still no movie can beat this masterpiece👍👍🙏🙏👏👏😊😊
Whats incredible about Jim Cameron is his confidence of vision.
His DP had said "I was hoping it turned out on screen the way we shot it" and Cameron replied with some surprise that "I knew it'd turn out exactly the way we shot it."
James Cameron
Jim Camera-on
Best visual fx of all time, case closed
I've always loved this films use of vehicles. So gritty you can feel it in your exoskeleton. Love seeing the big rigs taking centre stage.
some may not realise, that the stuntman (Peter Kent) actually went from the pickup to the truck cab without harness , wires or supports while moving at speed down the road.
the practical effects are just stunning
then again everything is
4:16 So, the T-1000 does feel emotion.
This movie has that raw dark atmosphere that the later movies couldnt recreate . A true gem!
No it doesn’t only the original had that T2 is a colorful happy wave movie that’s vastly inferior to its predecessor.
@@calisthenicsmachine9725Awesome calisthenics.

Deberían de pasar más seguido la de El Exterminador 2, esta bien chida
“Go straight!” Literally the only direction they could go 🤣
No, they could have swerved and tried to crash to the either side (but the truck would take them out).
He could have used the brakes thinking the truck has been toppled. But then the truck would crush them again.
"Go straight!" is decent advice.
This movie made my childhood days awesome. It was always one of my favourite movies.
When they know villain freezes in liquid nitrogen they could have permanently freeze the temporarily frozen body using some more liquid nitrogen. Arnold Schwarzenegger could have lived happily with his new human family.
Best action/Science fiction movie ever.
A masterpiece, very powerful and genius movie !
I’ve watched this movie potentially thousands of times already… I have so much of it memorized. I’m cheering like a kid every time Arnold shoots this guy. I love it. It’s rare that a movie gets a 10/10, but this movie is it.
James Cameron always captures the terror of the chase visually well. Cinematography is well done.
This movie until now give me goosebumps..best terminator movie ever cgi ever made
Damn this movie looks so unbelievably good even today - better than most modern ones.
*This masterpiece is 30 years old*
One of the best action movies of all-time and just about the only sequel That in my mind is slightly better than the first movie and i love the 1st
0:17 this really cracks me up for some reason...."WoW!"
The Cinematography is so ahead of it's time.
Love it ! 🔥
What I feel often doesn't get enough appreciation are the night shots, and how beautiful they look. I imagine it's more demanding to have to pull an actor out this late, that's why we don't see em much to this extent, but they are worth the effort.
not just the actor, the whole crew
