Great Melbourne band! Saw them live a couple of times. Greg, could you watch the first 3 minutes and 50 seconds of Countdown- 6th August, 1978? John Cougar Mellencamp, when he was known as Johnny Cougar, had his first chart hit with ''I Need A Lover'' in Australia. Countdown played the clip, and the Countdown kids liked it so much that we pushed radio to play it, and the song eventually charted all the way to # 5 nationally. He came to Australia to promote himself and the song. He has us Countdown kids to thank for that initial success because he wasn't having much luck getting arrested in his home country. @ponicus1 WA had some rain yesterday in the southwest, at least. It's wasn't torrential, though. You always seem to get that extreme weather. We don't seem to have that. Perhaps because the land is quite a bit flatter here.
Chart Position 51….. some great songs but unfortunately the never broke single figures in the charts except for their duet with Jimmy…. The Weight….. there best Green Limousine….peaked at 35.
I've been hoping you would find your way back to these guys. I get that you have an embarrassment of riches to work your way through, and I am a patient old woman... I will wait. I hope that you have recovered! Can you afford medical emergencies? 🌼
It was minor and not too painful cash wise. Our medical system here is such that most people are one or two serious illnesses away from losing everything and being homeless.
It was a fantastic album and a very different feel to the music being released at the time.

That episode of Countdown (6th of August) had been lost for 46 years, and was only found at somebody home among a whole lot of old video tapes.
