John Dehlin intentionally instigates and skews the reality. Him saying it's common in our church to talk about evil spirits possessing human bodies is pushing his own agenda. That is not true. The new testament is not specific to our religion nor do our mainstream members take the views John espouses. John tries to give Credence to both sides of an argument, but his personal bias comes out constantly. He is a disgruntled angry former member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. I'm on the replay crew. Stella Luna, i read a book to my granddaughter called Stella Luna about a baby bat. She loves it and has named a play bat that she has Stella Luna. I bought the book in vacation from a little store in California I believe.
Adam It is so easy to say that the church should not be blamed when its parishioners go bad. The most interesting part of this case is that everything Chad & Lori espoused is within the teachings of the church. Demonic possession, castings, visions. In fact I don’t understand why they didn’t use it as a defence. If they had just stacked the jury with fundamental Mormons they may have got off! Thankfully you and Rex along with most other people with the LDS faith are a lot more moderate than that. But you should not ignore that there is a fundamental element within the church as there is in all religions. And that the church should speak up in these time to discourage these beliefs.
Very good point that Adam made: why doesn’t she plead guilty & ask to go back to Idaho? Part of the answer is she wants to use this AZ trial as a platform to layout & defend her religious beliefs. The relatives of Charles Vallow deserve a trial to hold her accountable, but it would be awful to have her represent herself & have the trial descend into a circus. It’ll be interesting to see how the judge decides & how this goes forward.
I had to find the Vinnie/Court TV program and watch it. I totally agree with Adam's argument. I've been a member of the church my entire life and I never knew about evil spirits possessing our bodies other than the reference in the New Testament where Jesus cast out an evil spirit. It's hard to believe that Visions of Glory was a bestseller for a couple of years. I am a very avid reader and had never heard of it until the news story of Lori came out. I was curious and ordered it from Amazon. It's the dumbest book I've ever read. It talks about portals, killing the bad people, people turning into translated beings, being able to read the minds of other people and even reading the minds of the furniture. I was gagging.

I finally get the sympathy for Alex. Lori picked up on something "Off" with Alex that could be manipulated and used for her own evil. If I were Adam, I'd hate Lori on that fact alone. She's not brought up Alex at all and THAT is shameful in itself. It's as if he never lived, was never part of her monstrous behavior. Same with Chad and Melani. Not one word. But TYLEE...she's got complete Commentary that makes ZERO sense. Colby didn't mention Chad but I think we're all waiting for her to say something about Chad blaming every evil on her. It's bizarre. Rex I don’t think that anyone else will be charged. The police needed the inter circle people to help with their case and I don’t think they would have enough evidence against them so they used them to form the time line and the motive. The three in Idaho that had lawyers with them zulema, Melanie P and maybe her husband but I’m not sure anyone else. Melanie Gibb said she didn’t need a lawyer because she was telling the truth. Chad and Lori were the main targets and they got the convictions and I’m glad for the jury’s good work in getting justice and I hope that we will get justice in Arizona. Ready for it all to be over.

Great work guys I live in Australia and am not a Mormon. I have watched the Mormon Stories podcast and the host seems like a reasonable person just like you two. He is super critical of the LDS church, maybe with good reason no? Adam Appreciate you are in the church and probably don’t want to condone what John Dehlin is doing. However, I believe it is very important for people to hold a mirror up to large institutions like organised religion, educational facilities, the military and government when they go off track, even ones I’m involved with. They weald a lot of power. Now you might say that religious institutions should not be held accountable for bad things their practitioners do. However trying to understand where Lori’s hyper religiosity has come from, is worth investigating. You should probably watch Mormon Stories because blind faith was a catalyst in this whole ordeal. Just saying.

You should do a little more research before defending that guy. He was excommunicated for good reason(s) and he’s had a chip on his shoulder since 💯

He is not an outsider persecuting a religious belief he does not understand. He was a Mormon for 45 years.
It just demonstrates the church only wish to listen to an echo chamber and would prefer to censor people who are critical.

John does bash the Mormon church. I am not a Mormon, but Alex had the right to defend himself. John was being rude.
So I’m not Mormon but a born again Christian. However, I find John is so disrespectful about God in spite of bad experiences in his religion. Christ isn’t a religion but a relationship and John hasn’t found it. People will always let us down
