Thx my friend. It's easy to play, to. Just drop the hi-E to a D and off you go. Elton plays the tune in A (capo 7) but was too high for my vocals- so I pitched it in G at capo 5. Nice thing about the tune is you can pitch it wherever you want for comfort. Enjoy!
Thx! This tune coupled with "Funeral For A Friend" was one of the few 10+minute bits on radio when I was in high school (it's actually around 11 minutes long) and it's still amazing. The only thing I did differently from the original is lower the key one full step to make the vocals a bit easier to work through. I always believed this tune would work as a solo acoustic guitar piece.
Thanks, Marcel! It's easy to play, too. I just detuned the hi-E string to a D and pitched it in the key of G for my voice (Elton does it in A- waay too high for me.) I've always loved this tune and wanted to translate it for a single acoustic guitar and am pleasantly surprised with how well it works as a folky piece .t
Dirk- SO sorry it has taken this long to answer my UA-cam comments! The thing that makes this song work is the hi E-string lowered a full step to a D. By capoing up five frets, I'm in the key of G- but Elton actually sings it in A (too high for me to do comfortably...) It's actually easier to play than it sounds- and one can capo it anywhere to get the vocal range that works best. Just think Neil Young and get that chunka-chunka going on the right hand and don't speed up and the song will fall under your fingers- it's all folk chords anyway...Good luck with it...!
Excellent. Outstanding. Thanks.

Cool !!!
Thx sir! One thing I did for this was lower the song's key down to G from Elton's original in A. How does the guy sing that stuff?
Nye-Ice ! - great acoustic arrangement. Such a powerful song to listening while driving out of the towns and cities and driving in the mountains.
Can't believe this has so few views. Great job!
