Weird Subnautica fact. In the early years of this games EA, the Sea Moth used to have an Easter egg voiceline that would very very rarely trigger when boarding the vehicle. The voiceline said, (and I'm being serious), "I love it when you come inside me". There are recorded instances of it on UA-cam if one wants to find proof.. The Easter egg was removed about 6-7 years ago.
There's also a rare easter egg in the Quarantine Enforcement Platform (a.k.a. the alien facility with the massive laser cannon) where scanning either of the data terminals has a small chance to cause your PDA to say "Resistance is fertile." followed by a short bit of jazz music. I didn't know about it, and got it during a fourth playthrough, thought I was hallucinating for a minute.
"She never told us why she couldn't leave the facility!" Sea Emperor less than 5 minutes ago: The others wouldn't let me leave, I asked and they couldn't hear me.
Nothing brings me more joy than when people realize "JUVENILE Ghost Leviathan" And the sinking, creeping feeling of OH. _OH THEY GET BIGGER..._ OH NO."
The time capsules come from real players that have finished their playthroughs and have sent materials and messages to newer players. I always love reading them.
Wait so like can anyone just send a time capsule to someone or does it have to get through the devs and has a random chance of spawning for anybody because one time I had one that contained a motivational note and the Thermoblade.
46:38 "Meaning it was actually able to kill that thing." Oh, it didn't just kill it. It ate it. Sea Dragons eat Reapers. In fact, that's the only reason that skeleton was down there. Reapers don't travel that deep naturally. If one of the Sea Dragons get too hungry it goes up and drags a Reaper into the depths and eats it. This never actually happens in game no matter how long you play for because encountering a Sea Dragon outside the lava zone would be unfair, but that's the lore behind how those skeletons got there. As scary as Reapers are, they technically aren't even an apex predator because Sea Dragons eat them.
@@DJKWEST- Oh. That's why. I missed that part of the lore... That's actually kind of messed up. Starvation is a horrible fate, even for monsters such as them. Especially since in desperation, they presumably will eventually try resorting to eating anything else they could find, absolutely decimating the population of the other inhabitants of the lava zone such as the lava lizards. Not that it would matter in the end. I doubt that there's enough of them to stably sustain the sea dragons.
Well, yes, but at the same time the reapers look like horrifying spider shark crab monsters, while the sea dragon looks like a Mario enemy. The reason so many people don't think much of the Sea Dragon is because it's implemented so weirdly. At the end of the game, in just this one area, more annoyance than dangerous, not scary at all, it completely misses the mark. I mean I was more scared of the octopus thingies and those just emp occasionally.

Also the fact that he didn't see more reapers when he went from the back of the aurora to the front along the RIGHT SIDE aka the side where like 10 reapers live
@@coolava2952 i did it once. and yea if you stick to the ship they dont actually go near the ship they stay in their own biom BEHIND the ship and secondly they stay swimming up top and so hugging the aurora or the ocean floor is a good way to not encounter a reaper ever. anywhere even. they like to swim uptop. thats why that biome with the blue big ball plants (the ones not floating) had that reaper...cus he is always there. you just dont realize because he just swims up top not down there. but if you look up maybe you can even see him.
Fun fact: the Cyclops is based on a real submersible, also called the Cyclops, which the devs liscenced from the company that owned the ship and her copyright, which are mentioned in the credits. The design is tweaked somewhat, but still recognisable. The real-world Cyclops would become better known in 2023 when her younger sister, once creatively named Cyclops 2, became infamous for the death of herself and her crew under her second and final name: Titan. Yup.
If I remember right, it's not actually based on the real submersible, it just shares a name and they asked if they could use it so they don't get in trouble with them.
Fun fact the alterra HQ/sandwich dialogue actually is a easter egg and was voicelined by a channel called "neebs gaming" who did a roleplay in the early acess of the whole game
The sunbeam isn’t the rescue operation, the rescue was never coming. They’re just a random ship in the system that happened to hear your SOS. When you don’t respond, they think the SOS was probably a minor thing and complain, but still head there anyways.
@@gearshift7174 The original message where the aurora says ''9.....9......9......9......9 hours'' means that there is no rescue coming which is what the guy meant :)
Seeing Seanie drive into the Void made me feel genuine sorrow. The game tries so hard to tell you that you don't explore the Void. I hoped he would turn around when the adult Ghost Leviathans started ripping apart the cyclops, but he kept going, and I knew it would end in tragedy
I often do void dives it's not dangerous with PROPER PREPARATION like... at least 10 ion cells,a shield generator to negate crush damage and either going so far out the game glitches and thinks you aren't in the void anymore OR going under the terrain to despawn the ghosts. The goal being to get to -8192m where you get teleported to 0,0,0 as a sort of failsafe.
That first encounter with the Leviathan is sort of a ritual for anyone coming in blind, and veterans of Subnautica love to watch new people approach the murky waters for that moment. Congratulations on pushing through!
34:50 the exact reason why crew members have to undergo training to suppress the deceptive feeling of unlimited power when controlling a prawn suit. Yes, that is actually stated in the logs
@@Delritho well, the truth is that there has been a chicken that managed to live without a head for a really long time. surprisingly long time if you factor the fact that it was beheaded, literally no brain connected to a body.
Immediately clicked when I saw the notif. A real kick in the nuts but funny as hell Curious to know if you’ll do Subnautica Below Zero as well??
if memory serves me right, it takes 250 hits from a thermoblade to kill a reaper leviathan, you'd need to be DEDICATED to killing one to do it -EDIT: holy hell, you actually DID kill one, but not with a thermoblade
I killed litterally like 15 leviathans in my playtbrough. They're super easy to kill as long as you have a stasis rifle, that freaking gun is way to OP. You have to stay them a ton but it's not too bad, takes like 10-15 mins of slashing.
21:11 "It's not like you can just slap down a solar panel and have infinite energy." Now, I don't normally make skill issue comments, but this is genuinely hilarious to me because this is so close to the actual solution for easily getting as much power as you need in relatively shallow areas. You can just slap more solar panels on top. The only limit to how many solar panels you can place on a base is how many you fit, and each one generates power. More solar panels = more power.
My favorite way of lighting up areas in Subnaughtica is to use the kelp plants with glowing seed clusters on an outdoor growbed underwater. Simply plant a seed and you will eventually have a plant that glows in the dark very brightly. Also, the big and simplest way to avoid running out of energy is to use the thermal power plants. plopping down 2 of them near a heatsoure will net you enough power to both run 2 water filtration plants AND run both big and small battery chargers at full load and still regain power.
Hey Seanie Dew you should 100% Grounded. It's a fun survival game where you get shrunk down and have to survive in a backyard while discovering how you were shrunk and I think you would really enjoy playing it
3:33 That isn't 9 hours. That is a rescue in 99999 hours time. Basically 11 years and change. 25:53 yep you need a fire extinguisher. Like that one you just passed on the right side of the hall. lol
@@hellcat0142 eh I'm not buying that. The game wants you to feel like no one is going to help you. One of the reasons why you don't find any survivors. The Sunbeam ship wasn't a rescue ship, it was a trading ship that just happened to pick up the distress signal. That is just how a narrative device tends to work. Makes your situation feel hopeless. Give you hope. Takes away hope. Thinking a rescue is coming in a few short hours completely destroys that.
@@YukoValis The Sunbeam was a trading ship, yes, but also it WAS coming to rescue you after picking up the SOS and seeing the debris field. I also highly doubt that the company would tell you they couldn't be bothered to come looking for the ship (which was literally their brand new, top of the line capital ship by the way) for at least 11 years, so 9 hours is so much more believable. Also if they wanted you to think rescue wasn't coming, then why did they even add the Sunbeam at all lol? I'm not saying you have to believe the same thing, but I definitely don't believe a company like Alterra would hear get a distress signal from their brand new capital ship and be like "Nah, that can wait lol"
13:00 that is amazing. I accidentally paused the video right after you said 'can I get through this' and I was 100% expecting you to say something along the lines of 'oh wait this is a door... how... how do I open this door?' and then you said exactly that
Seeing someone experience subnautica without already knowing all of it is so nice! (But also i love all the passive lore you get from scanning all the environments, flora and fauna. Only a bit mad when you clicked it all away) such a nice video anyways!
"fire underwater, how does that make sense?" area man discovers thermal vents this game also near brought me to tears. I don't play scary games. (also bc of that final message from mama as you leave. :( ilu mama leviathan)
The prawn Suit really boosts your confidence by a lot like your invincible and can take on any threat no matter how big but the moment you leave or get Yeeted out by the hunters you get a sudden burst of panic as the confidence goes down the drain and you find that you are once again nothing more than a squishy piece of meat surrounded by carnivores until you get in your suit again and start wailing on the enemies without fear
I love how Seanie misses most important things and often ends up dying BECAUSE he runs away from things. For example the seamoth and prawn suit have health when they get grabbed by a leviathan who eventually let go, but because he instantly got out they exploded.

Eh, the reapers are pretty stupid. One of the easiest ways to get one of the cyclops parts (I think it's the engine?) is to go behind the aurora and just swim around because they don't react to seeing you, they react to the noise you make. It's how you can feed them peepers too :D

The rescue ship is not expected in 9 hours, but in 99,999 hours or 11.4 years. Plenty of time to relax on the beach and work on that tan, however, due to the presence of an unknown virus on the planet, the fish likely won't survive that long, and neither will you.

Well continuing the theme of _fun_ nautical adventures, you should try DREDGE. It's a fun fishing game! Definitely nothing wrong with it. Just you, your little boat and the fishes. Yup
It took until 17 minutes in for you to say 'irregardless' and I was getting worried it wouldn't be in this one 😭 Subnautica is awsome! Glad you played it! 👌
That 9 hours thing was actually the Aurora picking up *your* distress call, and sending a message as to when it would find you, but seeing as the aurora is outta commission... That ain't happenin' for at least 9... 9999 hours
I'm currently working on a 100% subnautica hardcore... just got a few leviathans left before I have all the scans (and I mean ALL of them), then I just need to get the last cuddlefish egg and build every base piece (already got every blueprint, every data download, every equipment piece, etc etc)
it’s insane to see someone who’s never played or even seen this game before. i was following igp’s coverage on this game in early access and even bought it for myself a while before its full release.
ya know, for a fabricator capable of immediately turning plant materials into processed refined components, and those components directly into fully fabricated tools, it's kinda weird that it can't just take the contaminants out of the surrounding water for you to drink for free
I actually already 100%'d it in my own personal time, but probably won't make a video on it for two reasons: 1. i don't think it would make for that interesting of a video, it would just be like "i failed a lot, then I got Stuntman and won" 2. it's so hard, dear lord
As someone who wants to become a marine biologist, seeing everyone who plays subnautica call it scary makes me chuckle. I think the big monsters are really cool and it just makes me want to study them. And there's nothing scarier than the Humboldt Squid in real life...
Not a person who plays this game goes without picking up way too many acid mushrooms on their first day. There's just something about harvesting them that makes people keep on going. And the 'pickup in 9 hours' doesn't say 9 hours. It caps out at 99999 hours, as it's referring to the response from the Aurora, which isn't going to happen. 99999 hours is roughly 11 years. The Sunbeam's response time is much better than that. Staring at the scanner icon in the bottom right every time you look at something that's unscanned is infuriating. That thing takes like a tenth of a percent of its battery to scan something, there's no reason not to. It gives so much information and many blueprints (some are even useful), and makes the game's impressive immersion that much better. Particularly entries like those of the warpers or reapers. Though yes, the data entry sound is grating at best of times. 31:09 I believe you're thinking of burrs. That repeating vehicle loss was rough to watch. It sucks to lose so much progress, and being way out of your depth like that makes it feel so uncontrollable. There is a lot of fun to be had in upgrading and learning the full potential of the vehicles available to you in this game, but it's quite the steep learning curve. Also, a bunch of the animated textures are corrupted for you, which despite this being a rather unstable game I've never specifically seen happen to anyone like that. So that's nice. If you want a short little game that's easy enough to 100% and fits the seasonal theme, try Carrion. It's pretty fun and quite unique.
Awesome video! Some really good agony for you to play next would be Rain World (I recommend with the Downpour DLC, it adds a few really interesting campaigns). It's extremely difficult and simulates a realistic (fictional) ecosystem where you're near the bottom of the food chain. You are a little cat caught up in the affairs of random gods, in a cycle beyond anything within your comprehension.
id recommend planet crafter. similar to subnautica gameplay wise. you land on a barren planet and must create buildings to slowly terraform it into a livable planet. its fairly chill, with no combat, heavy on survival and exploration.
The fact he didn't immediately die to reapers or warpers and KEPT GOING IS ACTUALLY INSANE! Veteran players will still hightail it out of there if they don't have a stasis rifle
Well mostly it's probably because he doesn't usually play games that take a long time For example games like Subnautica and raft can easily be completed within a couple of hours if you know what you are doing And most of these 100 % runs are extremely fast to do anyways Especially in this video as all achievements are story related And most are forced onto you ( like deactivating the gun, launching Neptune 1 and going to the primary containment facility)
I love seeing a blind subnautica playthrough where the player nonchalantly happy-go-luckily gets anywhere close to the back of the Aurora, and while they're happily enjoying the game I'm sweating buckets FOR them. Also fun fact. The leviathans in this game DON'T respawn. So if one is dedicated enough they can murder all the leviathans in the game and make it completely leviathan safe.
I was waiting for for this ever since one video I saw a glimpse of your steam library and subnautica was on there. One of my favorite Open-World games on PC and it's awesome to see you 100% it!
I got to wonder, what in the world was going on with some of the effects in your world? Sparks and burning edges were slowed waaay down, and so was the final warp speed tunnel at the end when you are in the rocket. Very strange. Good play through though. Happy to see the next one you do.
My guess is he turned on the accessibility option that reduces flickering from things like the laser cutter and water filtration machine, along with basic sparks and such. It looks a bit doofy but I personally use it to spare my eyes. (I had a mod that did this before they broke all the mods, glad they added the option.) Edit: Options > Accessibility > Lightning flashes (Checked by default to show, uncheck to slow down any animation of that type so they don't flash brightly the same way.)
This was great! I love watching all your 100% videos, props to you for completing so many! It makes me want to go back and 100% a few of the games in my library. I highly recommend V Rising, it’s an amazing game with great mechanics and I love all the different bosses! It’s a little different from some of the other games as it also has a really popular multiplayer pvp scene. But the game is also made to play pve and solo if you want (which is what I did!) the base building is really gorgeous and all the spells are super cool! I think Subnautica also has a sequel called Below Zero which would be really awesome to explore! As for any other recommendations, Baldurs Gate 3 is amazing but very story heavy so may not be your vibe, Satisfactory 1.0 just recently released and is a ton of fun and of course very satisfying. Good luck with whatever your next 100% is! Stay sane 😂 Editing this later to add Papa’s Pizzeria Deluxe

6:28 Reefbacks aren't actually harmless, they can destroy vehicles by running into them if your park one in their path, and they can have tiger plants on their back which fire projectiles at you.
The achievements in this game are surprisingly minimal. You'd think there would be more for unique interactions, like saving the sunbeam, or scanning leviathans. Or even just "Complete the database", which is a pretty common achievement in these types of games.

Also he had one of the least 'jumpscare' encounters I've ever seen
Reapers are designed to attack you from the back, but he got really lucky
@@BAVy11037 Probably a good thing, given his reaction a jumpscare may have actually killed him
Fun fact: the Cyclops is based on a real submersible, also called the Cyclops, which the devs liscenced from the company that owned the ship and her copyright, which are mentioned in the credits. The design is tweaked somewhat, but still recognisable.
The real-world Cyclops would become better known in 2023 when her younger sister, once creatively named Cyclops 2, became infamous for the death of herself and her crew under her second and final name: Titan.
Yup.
Woah! That’s a really neat factoid!
I thought that shape looked familiar.
"the design is tweaked somewhat.." lol you mean, 10x larger and actually outfitted in a manner in which it's occupants could survive?
Wait, you don't mean THAT Titan?
If I remember right, it's not actually based on the real submersible, it just shares a name and they asked if they could use it so they don't get in trouble with them.
Fun fact the alterra HQ/sandwich dialogue actually is a easter egg and was voicelined by a channel called "neebs gaming" who did a roleplay in the early acess of the whole game
I wondered why it sounded so familiar
The sunbeam isn’t the rescue operation, the rescue was never coming. They’re just a random ship in the system that happened to hear your SOS. When you don’t respond, they think the SOS was probably a minor thing and complain, but still head there anyways.
Well not exactly, the rescue is coming but you have to use the rocket to "meet them halfway". At least according to the radio message.
@@gearshift7174yeah exactly what they said the Sunbeam isn't the rescue operation the rescue operation is a separate thing

Seeing Seanie drive into the Void made me feel genuine sorrow. The game tries so hard to tell you that you don't explore the Void. I hoped he would turn around when the adult Ghost Leviathans started ripping apart the cyclops, but he kept going, and I knew it would end in tragedy
I mean, it's Seanie Dew, what did you expect?
I often do void dives it's not dangerous with PROPER PREPARATION like... at least 10 ion cells,a shield generator to negate crush damage and either going so far out the game glitches and thinks you aren't in the void anymore OR going under the terrain to despawn the ghosts. The goal being to get to -8192m where you get teleported to 0,0,0 as a sort of failsafe.
@@Streetcleanergamingok that actually sounds fun as hell to me
36:48 Funnily enough, the aliens didn’t name them that. That was your PDA automatically naming them.

Immediately clicked when I saw the notif. I love that Seanie didn’t even mention that after the rocket there’s a speech log that basically says you have to pay off your overwhelming debt from using materials you illegally took from the Aurora before you can land back on your home planet. A real kick in the nuts but funny as hell
Curious to know if you’ll do Subnautica Below Zero as well??
Having watched Seanie for years now...
I wouldn't doubt he completely missed that entire dialogue
if memory serves me right, it takes 250 hits from a thermoblade to kill a reaper leviathan, you'd need to be DEDICATED to killing one to do it -EDIT: holy hell, you actually DID kill one, but not with a thermoblade
I killed litterally like 15 leviathans in my playtbrough. They're super easy to kill as long as you have a stasis rifle, that freaking gun is way to OP. You have to stay them a ton but it's not too bad, takes like 10-15 mins of slashing.
21:11 "It's not like you can just slap down a solar panel and have infinite energy."
Now, I don't normally make skill issue comments, but this is genuinely hilarious to me because this is so close to the actual solution for easily getting as much power as you need in relatively shallow areas.
Also, the big and simplest way to avoid running out of energy is to use the thermal power plants. plopping down 2 of them near a heatsoure will net you enough power to both run 2 water filtration plants AND run both big and small battery chargers at full load and still regain power.
sea mommy
also the way you mistreated your seamoth, prawn suit, and cyclopse, is hurting me so badly
If he even tried to use the perimeter defence system on the seamoth the game would’ve been a hundred times easier lol

Like that one you just passed on the right side of the hall. lol
Pretty sure the maxed out 5-digit integer implies that the number is arbitrarily high (or at least beyond 100k) and help is never coming.
@@Sky_Guy Also possible. Either way it is certainly not 9 hours. lol
Its 9 hours, but some of the messages are a little buggy so they get static-y or repeat things
15:41 Seanie Dews stages of grief when the sunbeam attempted to land is just too real

Prawn suit + Grappling arm to latch on to enemies + Drill arm to rip them to shreds = "I am become Death, destroyer of worlds."
I love how Seanie misses most important things and often ends up dying BECAUSE he runs away from things. For example the seamoth and prawn suit have health when they get grabbed by a leviathan who eventually let go, but because he instantly got out they exploded.

BRO i LOVED watching playthroughs of this game when i was younger
That jse play-through when the game fully released is pure nostalgia
I watched neebs gaming doing a full unscripted roleplay on this game and the other one and others
Love how everyone picks up to many mushrooms during their first playthrough

So glad I can watch other people play this game that absolutely terrifies me. Thanks for the free exposure therapy.
(I had a mod that did this before they broke all the mods, glad they added the option.)
Edit: Options > Accessibility > Lightning flashes (Checked by default to show, uncheck to slow down any animation of that type so they don't flash brightly the same way.)

I think Subnautica also has a sequel called Below Zero which would be really awesome to explore!
