    Nice Video. I have the new Powerslide Hardcore pro EVO in the trinity mount. I am guessing this was not out yet when you chose the TAU. Initially it fit very tight in the toebox. However the EVO is heat moldable and now fits excellent. I swapped out the 3x90 slalom trinity frame and replaced with the 3x100 trinity frame and I love it. Prior to this my favorite Urban skate was the SEBA FR1 and/or the Rollerblade edge. Although those skates are phenomenal, the ability to heat mold the EVO and the trinity frame is a definite upgrade. I will say the price of the TAU and EVO ( due to carbon boots) may put them out of reach for some but they are worth it.

      I recently reviewed about 9 different pairs of Powerslide skates from their 2019 range in Barcelona, but there were no Evos in my review group. I think the Evo is a fantastic skate and if they have made improvements then that's amazing. If the boot fits comfortably (and often you may need to go up a size as Powerslide are a snug fit), then go for them. I can't recommend the Evos enough. I wore mine non stop from 2015.

    Great video! I have a question: would you recommend the Tau or HC Evo to a beginner? I want to be able to eventually skate long distances for fitness. I was planning to get a cheaper pair to begin with and upgrade later. But I worry about comfort and fit as I don’t have skate shops nearby to try on skates. So heat moldable boots might have an advantage in that respect. Getting good boots to start will probably be less wasteful in the long run as well. I just worry that carbon skates may be less forgiving for a beginner due to their responsiveness and rigidity. I know for my purpose, I may never reach these high end skates’ capability. But I don’t want them to hider my progress in the beginning because they are designed for advanced skaters. Thanks!

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  2 роки тому +1

      Good question. The Evos and Taus are very snug and worth going up a size from your normal (I don't usually recommend this with most brands but Powerslide are snug - except Next's which are more roomy and true to size.)
      It's soooo hard to buy skates online especially if you've never tried on a PS skate or other brands. I do recommend the powerslide Next boots which have 4 and 3 wheel frame options so later you can update to fitness frame and faster wheels without getting another boot, Everyone says the Nexts are comfy out of the box! But if you're set on Evos or taus, Taus have more toes room laterally, Evos more narrow in the toe area.... and go up a size with these 2, not with the Next.
      Check out my recommendations page of powerslide skates here. Hope this is helpful. Good luck.

      @@SkatefreshVideos Thanks Asha for the advice. I just checked out Next, which I didn't know existed. With the heat moldable liner, I think I can probably get a comfortable fit without trying them on in a store. Do you think the 4x90 is a good starting option if my ultimate goal is to skate for endurance?
      I don't have wide feet, so I think Powerslide skates of the right size will fit me. Pascal Briand's and yours are the top youtube channels that inspired me to start inline skating. I'll definitely stay with Powerslide if I can!

      Tying up their skates properly!!!
      Almost 99% of all beginner skaters who have laces on their skates don't do them up tightly enough so I do one skate for them so they feel the difference and then they do their other foot to feel the same. Lesson number 1 starts before they even get off the bench!

      Yeah I think so. I was suspicious if it was 'just talk', but I really do feel a difference in terms of power transferred into the frame and through to the ground. I haven't taken them for a really fast test drive yet but that's coming, I'll film that one too and try to articulate what I feel at higher speeds.

    • @joeblack4026

      ive put 3x100mm swell and 3x110mm swell trinity next to each other and the boot is at same height as on the non trinity frame , that is quite impressive!
      Also I ve tried 231mm frame with 3x100 and for me that is the sweet spot in terms of maneuverability and speed. 243mm frame is a bit too long for slalom and sharp cornering . I've even tried 215mm trinity frame on 100mm wheels and thats just fast and furious :), extremnly maneuverable, but you loose some stability at speed. For my size (45 EU) 215mm frame is too short, so I ll be selling it and buying the 231mm instead.

    • @BalaHormiga
      @BalaHormiga 6 років тому

      We agree! I think the 231 mm frame with 3 x 100 is perfect for urban skating. In terms of speed it lies between my 243 mm 4 x 80 frames and my 370 mm 4 x 90 frames. It's generally cheaper to buy 3 @100 mm wheels than 4@ 80/90 mm wheels. So for Urban skating it becomes economical as well.

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  6 років тому

      This was the one thing I was super curious to find out about (and I did think it might all be hype). I am injured and so only push with one leg in my normal skating stride (the other leg goes out but with zero power behind it) so I am supremely placed to judge if this is true. And it is. From my one big push on one side I am now getting even more power in the Taus and the Trinity mount. It's really is a piece of genius having a bolt under the base of the big toe transferring the power into the frame and into the ground. Pure genius.

    Hallo Asha!!!! This is a very inviting video but, unfortunately, I cannot find these TAU skates anywhere in Europe to buy. Are they out of production? If yes, what are the skates you think good to replace them? Or, to put it down easily: what are the best skates for you talking about maneuverability, decent glide, and comfort? You are being my model since I started skating and I think we have the same mindset and preference.. I would really appreciate a comment for you about this! I just bought the 125mm swell city grey and I will have to get used to it. My old 3x100mm powerslide Phuzion are doing the job for learning things but I would like to have a 100-110mm triskate for fooling around but of better quality and comfort.... Can you help me? I am new in the skates world...and I would love a very very good quality "fooling around" skate, 100-110mm, short frame... Thank you !!!!

      Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. This video was filmed in 2018 and at the time she was riding Hardcore Evo, then she started riding this Tau and more recently she went back to Hardcore Evo but an upgraded version. The Tau that appears in this video is sold out, so is a newer version with different color scheme made in 2019, that you can still find in some stores, for example here www.inlinewarehouse.com/Powerslide_Tau_Carbon_90/descpage-908266.html As I said, that one is not exactly the same Asha has, not only because of the colors but also because hers have a Katana frame with 3x110mm. The new Hardcore Evo she is riding nowadays is this www.inlinewarehouse.com/Powerslide_Hardcore_Evo_Pro_90/descpage-908379.html Obviously, hers is also customized. She would never say there is a "best skate" to buy. The best for HER is the Hardcore Evo she rides now, but everyone is different, so don't think this one will fit everyone's needs. In fact, both Hardcore Evo and Tau are for high level skaters. Beginners or even intermediate skaters would not get all the benefits they give. They are top of the line, made with kevlar, fiberglass, carbon, etc. to have the best response and light weight, but this made them also costly. You can be comfortable, have maneuverability, and glide nicely with other skates, and that is actually a very personal choice. For example, I couldn't ride these skates because they are narrow for me. Some other people love Seba skates because they are wide, but Asha can't ride those because her feet are narrow. The Swell is good but the soft boot may not be fine for certain stuff, especially with 3x125mm. The bigger the wheel the less maneuverability you have. Asha would suggest to try a Next model if you want a sturdy boot to "fool around."

    • @zezze87
      @zezze87 3 роки тому

      @@SkatefreshVideos hi Sergio, thanks a lot for this thorough answer!!!! Custom skates you mean that on the HC EVO she attached a different wheel base? I guess the 100mm or 110mm? I asked to Asha because I also have narrow feet and I want to go smooth and decently fast but I don't want to lose any maneuverability. I see that the EVO now only come with 90mm wheels. I grew up in 100mm Ppwerslide Phuzion and i find that dimension perfect for my usual skating around and learning processes. I wanted therefore better quality skates to keep for long time but possibly 110mm. Therefore if you say that on the current EVO I can then attach a different trinity mount for 100 or 110mm wheels without problems, I might think of it. On websites they say that the frame length and wheel dimension depends on the boot size, but is that changeable or there are problems?
      About the Next models, where is the main difference with respect to the EVO?

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  3 роки тому +1

      @@zezze87 Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Right. The Hardcore Evo comes with a Nexus rocker frame 3x90mm, but you can replace the frame with any other Trinity frame, or better yet you can buy the boot alone and attach the frame you want. As long as the frame has the Trinity system it'll be ok. Asha has a Katana frame which is rockerable, though she prefers to keep it flat. Its length is 243mm and that allows 3x110mm. If you want 3x100mm the frame length should be 231mm. Frame length and wheel dimension depend on boot size, right, but I believe you are an adult with an average feet size. The 243mm is the standard length for 4x80mm and 3x110mm when it comes to adult urban/freestyle skates. When Asha was testing the triskates years ago she found the 3x125mm was too much for her, she were losing maneuverability, and found 3x110mm felt much better. Differences between Next and Hardcore Evo? Everything! But the main thing is the boot construction. Phuzion and Swell are soft, Next is hard, Tau and Hardcore Evo are hybrid. Hard boot means it's made of reinforced plastic and this is quite uncomfortable for many people because it's not forgiving and also heavy. However, hard boot offers better support, maneuverability, and responsiveness than soft boot, so it's a good upgrade for someone who has been skating long with soft boot and wants to get more into tricks, jumps, etc. Hybrid boot is the one in-between, not soft, not hard, the one we experts love, but as I said before it's costly. The hybrid boot offers the best support and responsiveness keeping a light weight. Another difference is the liner, the Next has a removable liner, the Hardcore Evo and Tau don't.

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  6 років тому +1

      The boots feel very very similar. I never had the Evo Toe Strap done up tightly as the Evo was always snug in the toe box, in fact Ive never used the toe straps for that purpose (I prefer my skates tighter than looser) so never had to tighten that area up. I don't notice the absence of a toe strap in the Taus, that's for sure.

    Great video! You wore the swells for a while, you like the harder boot?

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  6 років тому +3

      Yes I tested 3 pairs of Swells a while ago. I do prefer a harder boot in general and I think they offer better comfort and support. The Swell isn't as 'soft' as a conventional soft boot and it has a sort of "cup" edge that your foot sits in which is hard (about 1 inch all around the sole) and this stops the common problem of the foot "rolling' to the outside of the skate, inside the boot, so that's a good additional improvement from the Swells. But Powerslide's hard boots like Evos and Taus are so wonderfully comfortable inside and really hold your heel in place snugly as if your achilles heel is being ;grabbed' from behind. This is really the best feeling you are looking for in a boot, hard or soft.

      No, the Trinity Taus can take several different frames, 4x80, 3x90s, 3x100 and 3x110 (which I have). So its best to buy the boot and frame separately and choose which size and number of wheels you'd like. I am injured with a bad hip which means I can't push hard on one side, so the larger 3x110s really help me to not loose too much speed from my injured side. Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Both are definitely great for long distance, and Asha really rides lots and lots of hours. I think the Tau will be more indulgent if you have any kind of discomfort. I remember Asha telling me about the break-in period the Hardcore Evo required, it wasn't that easy at the beginning. She loves both, of course, but comfort is actually 100% personal, so I suggest that you try on both of them in a store and let your feet decide. Maybe Asha could reply this question later, but she's on vacation right now so you will need to wait quite a bit. In any case the Tau or Hardcore Evo you'll see in stores today will not be the same Asha has been wearing. Models change lightly as years go by.

      @@SkatefreshVideos thank you Sergio for your quick response, one mor question; regarding what is the difference between the high heel offered with the Evo pro and flat with the Tau? Which one is better?

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  2 роки тому

      Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. The Tau is not flat. The heel is higher than the ball of the foot in both skates (Tau and Hardcore Evo). This is usually the norm in all urban/freestyle skates, also in fitness. The ones that are flat are those for aggressive skating, they use UFS (Universal Frame System). In my opinion, the ones with high heel are better for distance, and to skate in general, because they transfer the energy way better when you stride. I use aggressive boots because I love them and I ride them with 4x80 to do freeskate, but the difference in performance is definitely there if I compare them with the Rollerblade Twister I also own. The Twister does have high heel because it's made for urban/freestyle, and my stride feels better and it's more efficient. By the way, there's something I must clarify about this video. Here Asha was comparing her OLD Hardcore Evo with the brand new (back then) Tau, which seemed to be great out of the box. In more recent videos you will see Asha riding Hardcore Evo again! I mean the Hardcore Evo in this video is from 2015 I believe, then she switched to Tau, in 2020 she switched back to Hardcore Evo, but a newer version. The latest is the one that required a break-in period.

    • @anas7hamed

      @@SkatefreshVideos hi sergio, you are so supportive, but is the evo pro heel rise (3mm) more than the tau, dose that makes any difference? And comparing those two with the ps next 80; which is more comfortable for free long city ride? I have the seba high light carbon 2015 but i can not rid off the pressure point from the ankle laces side and because of that i want to get a new one from the PS due to the comfort they provide. Buy the way the online course you provide is incredibly amazing.

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  2 роки тому +1

      Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. I think Asha will need to answer that question since she has experience with both Tau and Hardcore Evo. I can't ride Powerslide skates for more than a few minutes, they are too narrow for my feet, but that's MY case. And this is actually the reason why it's so important to try on skates in a physical store. Every person is different, so what is great for a person could be terrible for another. Some brands/models are just not right for certain people. When Asha is back I will let her know about this heel rise, maybe she can reply herself.

    Hi
    I have just bought Powerslide Phuzion Argon 100 mm and I would like to change the frame and wheels to 4*80 mm
    , at the shop they told me to buy trinity Elite but power slide
    Trinity Elite
    Trinity ego smart
    Trinity nexus
    Trinity Pro
    What is the difference, will I feel the difference if Install Pro or Elite?...
    Thanks
    Tara

      Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. You mean difference in performance? No, I don't think you will feel any difference. All those frames offer good stability and power transfer. Trinity means it's a 3-point mounting system unlike most skates that have a system with 2 points, so any of the frames you listed are fine for your boot. You just need to make sure it's 243mm to allow 4x80mm. Anything with the word Pro on its name means it's top of the line, with the purest materials, the best finish and built under the best tidy conditions. Therefore it will be at the top of the price list too. It doesn't mean the others are not well made anyway, they are still high quality. The difference between the others you said is actually the way they are constructed, by extrusion or molding. Elite has a special beveled shape designed around the shape of the wheels that I personally don't like, but you can check it out. Nexus is great with a more standard shape, and Ego is a more simplified version of Nexus and a little lighter.

      @@SkatefreshVideos one more question on Power slide Next 4*80, are they only for narrow feet? I can see on some reviews that wide feet people had issues with them... , thanks :)

      Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Mmm... Powerslide boots in general fit better with narrow feet, yes. Indeed I can't wear any Powerslide boots more than 10 min. but Asha feels great with them. So as a guide from narrow to wide the brands would go Powerslide > Rollerblade > Seba/FR. Obviously there are exceptions and there are other brands around as well. The Next is average width and the boot is not heat moldable but its liner is, so after a short break-in the liner molds naturally with skate time, or can be molded in a special oven shops have. It's heat moldable in the ankle and heel areas but it will stay the same in the wider area of the foot. Every foot is different and lots of Asha's students said the Next adapts to everyone, but I can't assure you that. The best thing you can do is giving it a try in a skate shop.

      Sinto muito que nao posso fazer tudo. Legendas e muito trabalho de tradução e editarão e financiamento nao vale a pena fazer isso. Vou tentar sempre gravar os videos nas outras idiomas quando estou naqueles países. Então, em janeiro vou começar a gravar muito mais videos em portuguese pra vocês. Mas agora estou com muito trabalho e curais heh tem tempo pra fazer am ingles que e 89% de meu mercado.

    How paid is this... You are such a great instructor. But how did you sloop so low and get your toe area dirty

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  6 років тому

      The toe area of my skates always gets scuffed precisely because Im an Instructor. I check ALL my students skates are tied up properly before we begin to move and to do that I kneel in front of them and check their laces and buckles. I kneel with one knee on the ground and that skate is resting on the toe. It always gets scuffed ad damaged over the years...... now with the Tau skate the rubber toe stops that, so a great improvement.

      Yeah it's hard to visualise how the new Trinity mounting system is different without actually seeing it, but Powerslide have revolutionised how boots are attached to frames and the summary is that the Trinity (3 bolts not 2) system brings the overall height of the frame down so creating the illusion of smaller wheels in terms of manoeuvrability.

      Sorry you didn't like it. I actually had a LOT of my students asking me "What's the differences between your old and new skates because they look the same", so instead of answering loads of times I made a video as I know many people are interested in their equipment and also what I think about my equipment. The majority of my videos on the channel are instructional so I hope there's enough there to keep you busy.

      Really, you should mark this as ad ... and I don't know where are you buying bearings but mine when new, are always hard to freespin, needs some distance to roll properly. And also, how can you say the boot is comfortable after few meters?

    • @jotad05
      @jotad05 6 років тому +6

      I disagree. These videos are very informative two people like me who are trying to get knew skates and don't know what to look for. This is especially important because the two products are very similar and she points out how they are different and what she believes is more comfortable.

    • @besvideoroller3306

      this is what really annoys me if you do not know what to take as skates the best is to let your feet choose, it is necessary to test several models but also several brands in store.
      even if what she says is true for her every person is different you have to try different skates and also different brands.
      what she does is just say that the latest powerslide model is better than the previous powerslide model and that in addition we can put powerslide pegs. it makes a lot of powerslide in a video.
      after I am French and I did not understand all.
      but she's a teacher so her role is to teach not to advertise for a specific brand.
      and once again she teaches very well.

    • @BalaHormiga

      I disagree. If Powerslide is her preferred brand then she should be able to promote them if she chooses, paid or otherwise, as long as she is honest about her preferences. This sport (recreation) needs support both from a consumer perspective and a supplier perspective if skaters like us want it to grow.
