I run dual grippers for tweed valley steeps and they are a great balance of speed and grip. Super rocky or heavy duty switch up to the extreme shield casing. Dry running 22 front and 24 psi rear. Rimpact on back wheel. For really steep or wet using 20 front 22 psi rear. I'm up in Deeside soon and will just use supershields + rear Rimpact insert at 22 front, 25 rear for heartbreak ridge loop. Extra distance etc. Great video keep up the good work!

I think that is basically the exact same setup I will be running very shortly and very similar tyre pressures to what I also run with a rimpact in the rear and a home made huck norris style insert in the front. Where abouts in Deeside you plannign on riding?

@@StravaigingMTB The mix around Ballater. Have a steel FS to test out.

Full Moxie? Have you ridden much of Ballater before?

@@StravaigingMTB Yeah a full moxie. Works well in the steeps but keen to test overland. It jumps really well too. Head up every few years for a few weeks riding. Is that local for you?

30 mins. I live beside Scolty which is a local hot spot but not as well known as it deserves to be outside of Aberdeenshire. It has the densest most technical trail network any where in the north east.

I wouldn't mind trying a Hotseat Gripper combo myself. Looks a nice tyre for not nice conditions.

@@StravaigingMTB I just did and it replaced my DHRII and Shorty on my Rune which I had on for a few months fpr testing. The Hotseat is much more predictable than the outgoing shorty. Gripper rolls faster too and seems to even brake better. .

Ive been running two pairs of Grippers on both my Cotic’s since the start of 2019. Found them to be great and ideal for the conditions we have in the North East Scotland. Touch wood I haven’t had any punctures yet (jinxed now). Run them a bit harder in the summer months and drop a few psi for the winter/slop. Work great and find them really reassuring in handling and grip.

I have moved these tyres to a Banshee Titan v3 from my Full Moxie and having a lot of fun with this combo.

That is quite the bike history. How was the full Moxie compared to the Titan?

    • @slipperyseal762
      @slipperyseal762 3 роки тому +1

@@StravaigingMTB It is much faster everywhere. The KS2 suspension does a much better job on rough tracks and does not pack down so quick. Also do not get as tired on it. Even climbing. Such a solid frame too. The Rune is also really fun. Trophy truck through the rough stuff and still easy enough to place. Tried a lot of bikes the past 2 years and seems to be a lightbulb moment on the KS2 V3 platform.

That's some good insight thanks for sharing, the Rune is probably better suited to my local hill but I wanted a bit more versatility so went with the Spitfire. If it was now I'd probably go with the Prime as I dont think I'm a hard hitting enough rider to do justice or need a Titan.

I rode a MK1 Moxie the start of last year. That bike was amazing, best steel frame Ht I've ridden and railed turns like nothing else. Ahame the full sus needs more work to be comparable to quivalent FS bikes.

I'm currently running maxxis assegai front & kenda hellkat rear.
Amazing levels of grip but looking for something a little faster rolling for the summer season.
I'll maybe try out the gripper as they are on sale atm

Currently use Highroller 2 2.30 in dry, and Short 2.30 in wet, I Shwalbe Ice Spiker lite skin 2.25 on ice, but I want to try more tyres.
I haven't looked much into MSC Tyres yet, but I've not seen them sold anywhere I know of yet.
