    to be more specific... for the ultimate corgan sound... just use what he used for Siamese Dream. Marshall JCM800 with KT88 tubes, all EQ rolled to full gain on full, use the post gain as volume... Fender Strat with Lace Sensor pickups with pickup switch set to position 2 (on a 5 way) high tone rolled to 3 and low tone rolled to 8. Fender Blender is a good octave/distortion box. Fuzzface. There ya go.

    Really wish Billy would have embraced the fact the he Is Smashing Pumpkins, rather than deciding he needed to Become Radiohead. It all went to Hell after (and during) Mellon Collie.

    this version is kickin for real... : )
    at the virgin festival billy said " this next one is a song i wrote during a period i was taking a lot of mushrooms. So if you're on mushrooms, this will sound good to you, and if you're not on em it will too."
    ha i always thought this was for sure one of if not the trippiest tune the pumpkins have....... 93 versions have so much more energy though, billy basically screaming every line, thats how i like my starla........... : )

    LOVE that bell sharp crisp tone of his guitar in the beginning. Fender on Fender...? This song brings back so many memories. Ahhh... Summer days of no responsibilities, baked out of my skull listening to Pisces Iscariot with friends long lost through the slipstream of existence. Man, getting old is fucked... but memories are precisely that.

    The end part = One of the coolest things ever.
    I'd give anything to have gone to their concerts back then... Though they're still AMAZING live today, I saw them only three weeks ago, it totally blew me away!!!
    The crowd surfers are funny, I don't really see that happen these days much anymore, at least not to that extent. Through this live performance you can see that everyone was a lot more relaxed back then...

    it's the b-side to the gish version of i am one. (not worth asking was the b-side to the origonal version). it was later released on pisces iscariot, which is a proper release of unproperly released songs. a compilation if you will. not a "real" album.

    Don't forget the various pre-amps that he has used during various times.
    Gish: ADA MP-1
    Siamese Dream : Marshall JMP-1 & Mesa-Boogie Tri-Axis. I'm not certain but the Mesa may have only come along for touring.
    Various changes after that.

    @McLovin666ll You telling me not to respond to this message is obviously going to make me want to reply more. First off, it's highly fashionable these days for people to slam a band for sounding like shit and then claim that they admire the band or are a fan of the band isn't it? If you like a band and the music they've put out you realize that when playing it night after night live the song's solos can take on certain changes. Saying it's the "worst solo ever" is just plain ignorant.

  • @TheThroney

    @BLURCEG he's human like everyone else. people forget that when you become a celebrity. they only want from you what you did originally that got you known or famous.. if you want to change or to do anything else youre automatically a sell-out.. which is ridiculous.. you try playing the same type of songs/songs & music style for the rest of your life.. it gets boring.. no one can consistantly write awesome songs of the same style forever..

  • @Subiromba
    @Subiromba 14 років тому

    @BLURCEG Dude, He's one of the most talented songwriters of my generation, and he highly messed up with the feelings of millions of people around the world with his art. I don't know him, I don't know if he's an asshole, and I don't care. In fact, he can be what he wants, because he's Mr Billy Fucking Corgan, we owe him for all the amazing work he has done.
    Amazingly talented people like him are not common person, they have special license to be whatever they want.

  • @obscuredgurl
    @obscuredgurl 14 років тому

    @BLURCEG.. ive always said that.. hes not my friend but being under a magnifying glass for so long must skew a personality quite a bit. like when it was printed that he made osbournes wife sick and every one was freakin out that she hated him or whatever.. later she stated that she meant she literally caught his cold ^.^ people r stupid gossipers rnt they? he was my first crush when i was 7 years old and ive never believed all the crap

  • @groovey65
    @groovey65 13 років тому

    @stoolet I don't care how many times you've seen them we've already talked about it.... The truth is Billy loves to confuse people! I'm not saying he never did drugs but the one thing I can say is that he would not have done them during Siamese Dream sessions because he cared way too much about that record.

  • @turbotim3
    @turbotim3 14 років тому

    You have to understand Billy is an artist and you can't stay in the same place emotionally, over the years you grow and you change, it's just part of life. It would be very boring as an artist to write the same style songs for twenty years and if Billy is anything like me my life depends on growth and change both musically and spiritually or I will die.

  • @jcrbama
    @jcrbama 17 років тому

    Sorry to add this in also, if you listen closely you can hear the octave pedal tracking bad in a couple of parts. It makes an odd "warbling" kind of sound where the pitch shifts back and forth from the input octave to the pedal produced shifted octave. Thats why I figured its probably the Fender Blender. But it does make a nice chimey doubled kind of sound.

    I totally disagree. Smashing Pumpkins has always been all about Billy. We saw how vital Jimmy was though, once he was gone. But, Darcy and James Iha were always disposable. You do know that Billy very often played their part in the recorded album versions, don't you?

    It's hard to discern exactly effect it could be, but the chime is most likely from a Fender Blender octave/Fuzz pedal. Corgan used that effect a good bit. It basically shifts the octave 1 step higher and also adds the fuzz effect. Nice pedal, originals are kind of hard to come by though.

  • @KentBuchla
    @KentBuchla 15 років тому

    I'm amazed that he busted that out on a Jaguar and not a Strat. I wonder why he chose that guitar for this song...

  • @DiegosaurusThesaurus
    @DiegosaurusThesaurus 17 років тому

    His sound can be achieved through fuzz pedals octaves and some reverb. but mostly fuzz. lotta fuzz distortion
    and old amps like vintage vox or something like that
    I recomend you buy the Fender octave fuzz stop box. its all you'll really need

    @tommytentiming Oh no! James Iha isn't there anymore! The guy that hardly contributed to the band is gone! What a travesty! The only other guy that contributed to the band other than Billy, was Jimmy. He was the only loss to the band.

    What happened to Billy Corgan!? Smashing Pumpkins were the best band in the world at this time. He was never able to maintain or recapture this vibe. Everything after Siamese Dream is garbage. Newest CD is unlistenable trash.

    Billy and the Pumkins prove they are on another level. Seeing the Pumpkins live a few times was some of the best times I've ever had. It's like The Velvet Underground and the Doors had a baby and that baby sweated pure MDMA and musical orgasms through it's pores.
