HELLO! We've had misogyny in the comments, which sadly Gem saw, and maybe some of you did, and thought this flaming queer was okay with that! No!!! I was just traveling, and should have paused comments! I'm going to put my response here for after the comment is gone. The misogynist said "the female" said "men hate change, when Gem very clearly said "man" as in *Etho* hates change. This person has called this out to talk about a woman the way we talk about animals while crying out over fabricated misandry. My response: "I don't know if you realize that saying "the female" is a huge sign that are (almost certainly) a misogynist. (You probably know what you are.) People who don't hate women call them "women". We say "the female" for animals, "female" is only an adjective for humans. Gem is *a person* not *the female* and I won't have you talking about her, or any woman, like that.
If you wanted to question "men hate change"? Well, if you listen, at 4:55, she sure doesn't say that, she says "man hates". She talks about Etho like that. If you have a hearing issue, the (messy) auto captions say "man hates", not "men hate" - and if you just didn't bother to double check before making this comment on a channel with chill in the name? Well you're just looking to go spread some misogyny.
If Gem had, for some reason, said that? That's something that can be discussed (not here). But you come in saying "the female is being mean about men", I know what you are, and this enby will ban you!"

Here's the thing, I've got 700 comments on the mouse & desk setup video, and this is something that plenty of old school gamera do, people in comments have switched to the mouse setup and come back to say it helped with wrist pain.
Course I'm a heathen mostly on a trackpad so I've got little room to judge there!
I play on those tiny foldout wooden tables, so I really can’t judge other people when my mouse is halfway off the table.
Hey the tissue box is doing a great job and I bet it will stay for a long time. We may propose to reinforce it with some aluminum foil too

Tbf, I think etho only barely views himself as a UA-camr. He's talked about how he still treats YouTubing and Minecraft as a hobby, as if he's still making videos in 2011.

I think that's part of it. The other might be, until just 3 or 4 years ago, he wasn't using an XLR or even a separate USB mic. It was just a broken pair of headphones that he liked the sound profile of.

Really I feel the opposite? Ethos so selective about the clips he picks that I always find his audio and pacing to be the best out of basically all the Minecraft UA-camrs I’ve watched.
@@muneeb-khan i love etho’s videos, especially the pacing of them! i was referring to the actual audio quality of his voice in his own videos vs. other hermits. i’m not sure which hermits it was specifically, i should go back and listen, but in some of their videos he just sounds “crisper”or clearer than in his own.

Genuinely I think he shares more when he's with Joel??? I'm not and Etho Historian but I proposed it to some longtime Ethogirls and they jumped on the idea. He's making a new friend! I've wondered for awhile how much of the privacy is cause he truly wants it versus habit, as he's long established as someone who doesn't like/has trouble with change.

It's honestly hilarious how simple an upgrade that would be. I just have a fairlight preset that automatically applies eq/compression to my voice track channel, literally one button press. Oh Etho... never change, except maybe on this :P

according to one of the comment, he apparently used for 10 years a software called VirtualDub, which is apparently powerful video processing software (dunno if he used the video processing side), but he used it for its rudimentary support of a video editing side... made by one dude because of anime. This thing has apparently over 13000 versions of it. and this dude still owns version 650. and build number 1482 was the first one that was apparently uploaded to internet and apparently it wasn't until build 6904 that people started to become interested on it.
This entire season is us including the hermits figuring and understanding ethos setup

Just because Etho's successful doesn't mean he has the most efficient or happy making set-up
or, on the contrary, he still works like he did back when he started and never adapted to newer more efficient methods
No way fam. He was just one of the early and lucky adopters. You don't need a good tech setup to do what he does.

I assume so in his single player but that method doesn't really work when there's other people and it's unscripted like parts of hermitcraft and all of the life series
That one I can understand some, though if I lived like that I might do a couple at a time? I think for me it would work around some adhd issues about going back and editing, if I forced myself to do it all at the time.

Im seeing Etho casually pop up in many streams, and he seems much more comfortable in general chatting with hermits which is great to see since as big as he is he's always seemed a bit awkward and quiet

What I’m learning from these clips is that you can do everything “wrong” as a UA-camr, but still be successful.

@@bbgun061 vice versa is also true, for example the amount of V-tubers that came and went recently is huge. A lot of them had expensive character rigs, great editing and visuals, but they just weren't interesting to watch. Personality is 1000x mroe important than production quality.

Etho only used virtual dub as a video editor for the first decade or so of his channel, so he could only clip recordings and arrange those clips. Nothing at all beyond that.
at somepoint it'll be reveled he's been lying and he records to VHS tapes and edits with two VCRs

Why? I recorded Minecraft 10 years ago, and I recorded with Fraps, but even then I used Audacity to have 2 separate audio tracks.

As someone that still insists on separately recording my mic in Audacity and having OBS record _only_ the game (sometimes I have to post-process my voice track, plus it makes it easier to slide around voice clips without having to manually un-glue them from the game track first), I at least know _how_ to multi-track audio in OBS. The only other thing I can think of is, maybe Etho records to .mkv (which the OBS manual _does_ recommend as a precaution against file corruption) but his editing software can only ingest .mp4 (had that issue before I moved to davinci), so he has to do a transcode step, and transcoding intrinsically merges all audio tracks into one...?
Nah he records mp4 and uses DaVinci, he just hasn't bothered to switch to two tracks (even though it's the easiest thing in the world lmao).
I can relate with etho. I wouldn't want to bother changing stuff.
honestly same, I'd be too lazy to learn. If I was a youtuber, I might get annoyed often enough to make 2-3 tracks to make it easier in the long run. but who knows, I could just as easily accept it and be like "this is just a thing that happens"

Does no one remember Ethos old logitech communications headset that he recorded ALL of his videos with? He kept it and kept buying new ones because he couldnt find a replacement that sounded the same FOREVER. The tissue box mic stand is a huge step for him because he actually has a mic now. it just takes a while for him to make big changes because that requires focusing on something that isnt the massive amounts of work he puts in each video. haha
