Frank truly loves Marie.
No. Frank uses Marie to cook his meals, clean his house and be his bed warmer. White slave masters used to do this frequently with enslaved African females. True love comes with respect and honor. Frank talks about Marie like she is a dog. Imagine loving someone and dishonoring them constantly with insults. You have a bad understanding of love.

@@brittanyc.4540 Worse! In the episode “Counseling”, Bernie and Linda come over for dinner and during the meal they mention that they have been fighting a lot and recently started counseling. Ray and Debra realize that they have also been fighting and go to the counselor - against Ray's firm protests. Ray puts on a false front for her and Debra gets mad. Marie then decides to help and while talking Ray blurts out that he wants Debra to be like his mother.

I don’t understand why the more that I watch this sitcom, the more I dislike Ray.
i think the point was we're not supposed to like him, but come to love everyone else. An allstar cast who gets individual chances to shine every episode. Ray, meh. Kinda like how jerry seinfeld had george, elaine and kramer, newman and others. Jerry was just the vessel through which we got to experience all the other characters, while jerry was IMO meh.
prob because you were a kid when you first watched it. as an adult you realize he is terrible,
I see it as the more I watch the show, the more this husband and father of three just wants to be a spoiled baby. 😅
You realize how toxic Ray’s behavior is as you get older, more mature, and (probably) closer to toxic situations (I grew up in one. As I got older, I realized that Marie developed some toxic habits to cope with Frank’s toxicity).
The more I watch the more I dislike Debra too.

@@annyjoseph6162 Who said that Ray is supposed to be staying with Allie, his super bossy stay at home wife? Does she have control and authority over Ray or are they equal adults. Is it not Ray who leaves the house every weekday, works a job and makes 100% of the money that sustains this family? If he doesn't want to give up his limited free, non-work time to sleep with a child but finds a great replacement, i.e. her grandmother, why does his controlling, non-working wife have a say? Debra is not Ray's boss. He is a weak man for even entertaining her assignments.

I worry that you are not because you completely ignored my point that Debra is not Ray’s boss or his authority figure. Instead you choose the tactic of misdirection which is often used by manipulative people who are unable to construct a viable argument.
