Always satisfying to see Marie get knocked off her high horse into the same dirt she throws at Debra.
I love Robert's face when he figures it out, like he's thinking "I was an accident? Yeah, that checks out."
Well, an illegitimate child is also referred to as a "bastard". From the look on his face, i think thats what they were going for. 😂 BTW...i was an accident from Birthday Sex. I was born in Dec and counted back 9months to March...when its my Dad's birthday. Move over, Robert 🙄
Gives new meaning when someone calls Robert a "bastard."
@saberiandream316
“Gives new meaning [...] Robert a "bastard."”
=========================
Not really.
A bastard is a child who is *_born_* to parents who are not married to each other at the time of the child's birth.
"That use to be me ; now I'm one of them..."
"One of us! One of us!"
I love how she pats Franks bald head when she says boyish good looks, makes the line so much funnier😂😂
After Frank reveals that they had to get married, she sits down next to Frank and puts her hand on his leg. He puts his hand on hers while explaining their predicament. Still shows that they do love each other, through the highs and lows, thick and thin.
@@wiccankaplanmaximoff104 It was a LONG time ago.
"good girl??! Ha!!!"
Golden response.
*SMACK* FRANK! NO!
@@danielvo4754 what the HELL are you talking about?!
I loved it when Frank wouldn't let Marie get away with crap.
They balance each other out in sooo many ways!!
😅😅

@@wfl19 yup, because Frank knows that Marie is a pain in the ass & acts like a goody 2 shoes but she’s not. Frank is honest & will call u out on your bs if he needs to.
@@andregreen4358 Marie is his pain in the ass
he not afraid to tell the truth
Is Robert an accident. Is that the point.
This scene explains SO MUCH about the characters! Marie and Frank's night of passion unintentionally led to Robert's conception, and they were forced into marriage without being able to fall in love first. This is why Marie neglects Robert and favors Ray so much. Every time she looks at Robert, she sees the reason why she's stuck with a man like Frank, while Ray was the child she always wanted.
Exactly.
Well said!
😂😂😂
Would also explain Frank's hatred. He succumbed to temptation once, and now he's bound to Marie.
@@Jai137 True. He just wanted to have sex with her (it was a LONG time ago).
Makes you wonder, if Marie invited the family for "coffee and cake" every year on April 6...
In Marie’s defense, even after 40 years of faking it she still knew Robert’s real birthday by heart immediately.
How is that impressive to know your kids birthday 😂😂😂 More ridiculous women idolatry.
@@88smjls Because no one has had a reason to remember the actual date for more than 40 years. If you think that’s not impressive, do you seriously think Frank knows?
@@DaoFAQ no it';s not impressive, that should be a reflex ...
I agree. That is impressive. It's one to remember for 5 or 10!years of celebrating a false birthday date, but 40 years? You would think that knowledge would have been lost to time. I know I would have to look up my child's birth certificate after all those years for me to remember the real birthday. And especially while being elderly.
It's very impressive to me.
What's on his birth certificate? Did Robert ever look himself?
0:38 best line of the show. Anybody who's been with that family would have that same look.
I can so relate, God I miss this show!! LOL!
This entire episode was one of the best of the show. This scene in particular makes me laugh every single time I watch it after all these years! It keeps on giving! I've been watching this show in reruns since it ended.
Frank: It was just the once then we had to get married!
Marie: FRANK! NO!
2:31
Raymond: Woah woah HAD to get married?
@@dwaugh2215 Wait. Wait a minute, so Robert’s…….
@@fm32047 ....what?....ooohhh
@fm32047 what?
*oh*
*Frank:* Then he was born; try passing off a 12lb. baby as 'premature'.
*Marie:* Try passing it, _period._
😂
Lol 😂
its called double shift labour
When is my real birthday?
April 6th.
That's today.
Surprise. 😂😂😂
"I remember that look, that used to be me. Now I'm ONE OF THEM!" 😂
I love how Debra says "Now Im one of them "
I feel like Robert would've been better off if he decided in this moment to move as far away from his parents as possible. 🤣
wouldn't have worked, Marie would go after him
@@DavidJameson89 well that explains The pacifier
He did, but it didn't work, he was thrown right back in not five years later.
He tried and he got the house but then they moved back in and he couldn’t get out again.
This was pretty much their signature episode. After The Letter (episode 11) and Marie's Meatballs (episode 15), the producers realized that this type of story is where their show lives and audience responded well. The show now focused more and more on the relation between Debra and Marie and how the men got stuck between both of them.
I love how Marie judges Debra for not being a ‘good girl’ when she herself was a very ‘baaad girl.’🤣
Wow imagine finding out your real birthday over 40 years later?
And still that selfish Raymond got envious of Robert when he made Sargent..
@@sudhirkulkarni5530 because Ray has to be the center of attention all the time. Ray is a lot like Marie, he gets jealous whenever something good happens in Robert’s life.
What did the birth certificate say? None of this makes sense. It's not like it was the 1800s. I mean, both sides of my family have stories about kids who had birth certificates switched with deceased siblings to cover up something or other.
In real life this situation would be impossible.
My grandfather was 65, he always thought his birthday was in May, when he applied for old age pension they let him know his birthday isnt until September, the exact same day as my grandmothers
A few things yes, I know a TV show but as a little brother Raymond really brings home the smart mouth comments & Debra gave the best advice. Run, run fast, run hard run like your life depends on it but run from this family.
Marie have made a huge confession
This realistically means a ton of Robert's identifying information is wrong then, isn't it? His Driver's License, his Police data, any medical information he's filled out, he's always put the wrong birthday.
At the end did Robert sing "how old am i now??" I can't remember but if he did it should have ended with that when the end card came in and when they were still singing lol.
Yes, that happened. I watched this episode on Netflix at least 10 times.
@@e.j.turner1845 DAMN YOU GOT MORE ON ME THEN 😂😂 I watch all 8 season twice on Netflix when it was around. Is it still there I remember when it was taken off, sad times. If it's there and in all the languages like the DVD release I would actually think of getting it just to see it.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂Poor Robert!
Surprise! 😂
Marie: Frank and I succumbed to temptation once, Just once before we were married. I was weak, And I fell for your father's boyish good looks. That was a long time ago. I knew it. I knew we shouldn't do what we did, But we were in love, right, frank?
Frank: I wanted sex. It was a long time ago.
Debra: So it was just the once, and then you got married?
Frank: It was just the once, and then we had to get married!
Marie: FRANK, NO!!
Whoa, "had to get married?" So Robert's?
Frank (6 years later): A long time ago my little voice told me not to do something. But I did it anyway, now I'm stuck with a great big voice!
@@e.j.turner1845 "What? Oh..."
@saberiandream316 Marie: " Alright, it's true. We got married once I found out I was pregnant. And robbie came along seven months later."
@@e.j.turner1845 "Our plan was to tell people he was two months premature. Then he was born. Try passing off a twelve-pound baby as premature."
One of the best episodes!
One time when Debra had one over Marie
Just when you think nothing else about Frank and marie can surprise you
"I wanted sex" haha
Robert is older than ray in the sitcom, but the actors ages are reverse - Ray is older
This is one of my absolute #Favorite scenes from Everybody Loves Raymond...the Barones are lovable AND flawed
"that's today"... Now that came out of left field 😆😆
Great show.
How this show didn't end in bitter divorce *is beyond me!*
Because love existed deep down, the last episode is focused entirely on this.
@@joshz2491 That's the most cop out answer I've ever heard. Just because the family felt trauma over Ray's heart palpitation doesn't automatically fix all the problems in their relationships. It's actually one of the most manipulative endings I've seen on TV. Because after that brief respite, it's back to the irresponsibility. Nothing changed
because families actually stuck together, you know for better or worse, once upon a time. now everybody’s worried about their feelings and being happy as if duty to family doesn’t supersede that
@@miamimercenary9623 this is a family that would have several restraining orders against each other, even in 2001. They would be Jerry Springer material
I know, it's almost like this is a sitcom parodying everyday family petty issues, stop projecting your own family failures and enjoy it for what it is
damn never saw this episode!! nice one 💯❤ poor robert!

0:50 “I remember that look. That used to be me. Now I'm one of them.”

Frank 😂😂😂😂
Thats hysterical
Sorry Robert
2:43
What?
Ohhhhhhhhhh…….
Always cracked me up!😂
Debra should have listened to Ray in the beginning and not bought the house across the street she's inadvertently to blame Ray tried to warn her
Simply lo mejor!
In short terms Ray was the son and Robert was the mistake.
And this led to Robert’s life long resentment of his brother.
And the reason Marie favors Ray
@@brierichardson8462 exactly right. Robert is a daily reminder to Marie that she was forced to marry an Emotional Cripple like Frank.
@@Stoneman180190Bingo! It makes perfect sense about why the Barones are such a f'd up family.
@@Stoneman180190Marie's favoritism is the reason why Robert is resentful... Frank has nothing to do with it, Marie is viIe in this and a bunch of other occasions not involving Frank.
@@anthonyjamesvasquez"Bingo" my asscheeks... Marie's favoritism towards Ray has nothing to do with Frank, she chose to be viIe with her kids. Frank never played favorite between Ray and Robert using the wedding as an excuse, he was always dissing at Marie only.
Robert had this coming and glad marie got put in her place
My favorite episode.
My favorite scene in the entire series, besides Marie’s marriage advice.
4:41 Robert's got that "Shut the fuck up" look on his face.
Brilliantly written and acted scene.
How is this possible? Robert had a birth certificate issued shortly after he was born with the with the date and time. An official record which he would have to present for identification purposes after he was an adult. Huge plot hole. IMHO
Idk how it is in the US, but in my home country some people would register their kids late so the date in the official documents is different from their birth date.
They could've hidden it where he couldn't look
@@gamersxwolverine1591 He would need it for various identification purposes, like his driver's license when he turned 16.
It was easier to get a fake birth certificate than tell people
It doesn’t make any sense? He had to have known his real birthday he’s an adult with a job and a paycheck. They can’t just say “oh you were born in June!” And he was born in September. He has a birth certificate
If anyone has a mom like Marie move away
That and change your name!
As long as it was easier😂😂
I was born in late 1958, exactly EIGHT months after my parents got married, was a full size baby (not 12 lbs., though!). Once I learned about "the birds & bees", and did the math, even as a small child I knew there was no "upside" to announcing my deduction!
He should have 2 birthdays 🎂 😊
This happened with my husband. His mother had to "confess" when he needed his birth certificate to join the military. Poor Robert, others know your pain.
3:41 😂😂😂😂
1:07 and 2:31 Frank No!
Good thing society’s wised up & realized people don’t have to wait til marriage or even get married if they’re expecting
Seriously?! Many tragic events in today’s society can be traced back to the breakup/breakdown of the family. Marie and Frank were far from perfect, but they did the RIGHT thing by getting married
@@danielgaul284 Just being co-parents can work
Ha ha this exact thing happened in my family. They had 8 kids after that. Didn't come out till my father died.
Sorry, but Robert should've expected it. He got out of bed that morning 😏
Good girl ha😂
Robert: “How old am I now?”
Robert should have taken Amy and left that house. No conversations, no stopping him and his girlfriend to start a new life.
You’re telling me as a cop he never once looked at his birth certificate or drivers license?
The first one could be possible if his parents gave it to him second one is he went off of what they told him and when you fill out a driver's license you fill out based on what knowledge you know
I'm guessing things must have been different back when Robert was younger and at the time of the show because not having your correct birthday on specific forms would come back as wrong, at least now. I'm shocked no back ground checks didn't catch this sooner.
The only thing about this is unless this was a home birth, Robert should’ve found out his real birth when he got his driver’s license.
Wouldn't Robert have seen his birth certificate and found out the real date?
My cousin never saw his birth certificate until applying for university, then discovered his name was Byran instead of Bryan
Poor Robert 😊
Amy 😊
"How Old am I now?"
I know it’s for the show but it makes no sense to lie about his birthday. What about his birth certificate? Instead, they should’ve lied about the date they got married as no one checks a marriage certificate later.
Don't you tell the official the date of birth? It's not like he came out holding the certificate.
Ok , so I’m guessing a fake birth certificate lol
The quintessential dysfunctional family; it can be hilariously disturbing. You watch scenarios in this situation comedy and some of it, it actually does happen in real families.
How could Robert have never found out about his birthday? He had to have noticed something when he applied for a driver’s license or a job, even the police force by age 40?
funny every time robert tries to make things better for him he only makes it worse
Considering how Robert was raised, I'm surprised he didn't become a supervillain.
This explains why Marie was trying to hard to stop Ray and Debra from having sex in the flashback. She didn’t want her son to have an illegitimate baby and be forced to marry someone he maybe didn’t want to, or she already didn’t like Debra, either one works
I feel sad for Robert
Poor Robert.
I’d never bring my wife around Marie if that were my mom
She’d find you. Marie always finds her prey.
My mother in law used to give me women’s magazine she marked with yellow highlighter to help me better a better wife.
1:05 2:29
🤣
Honestly i could never marry into a family like that it's too toxic but its good television especially Frank "Good Girl "😅😅😂😂
Has he never been able to see his own birth certificate you can't lie on the birth certificate.
Loved the show but everybody was toxic
why do ray and debra never lock their doors, then they wouldn't have the inlaws bursting in. but its only tv.
No. It is (or was) an American thing to not lock doors. If Ray locked the doors, it would be blatantly obvious that he doesn't want Marie and Frank visiting - or they would be personally offended by that.
@@redacted2275 A strange American thing to do, because the American films i've watched all have about 20 locks on their doors. So when Marie and Frank return to their home, wow its empty. And when the police arrive and ask 'how did the theives get in' mmmmm don't know, maybe we didn't lock the door.Really?
Robert never saw his birth certificate?
😊♥️
Poor guy was gaslit all his life
So what Robert’s birth certificate wasn’t legitimate either since he went so long thinking his birthday was in September?? 😅
Frank the real hero in this episode
Frank = Meanest Sarcastic Jerk in the Sitcom History..👺
That's why he's always been my favorite and the funniest character in the show.
@@thrashmetalfiend Kudos to the Casting Director. 🍻
So basically this explains why Raymond was the favorite. Robert isn’t the child that Marie wanted at all. That is why Raymond was spoiled and shower with attention from Marie.
Feel so bad for Robert, he was lie to all these years. Just to keep people from finding out Marie isn’t as good as she claims. If I was Robert, I would have walk out or told them to shut up. When they were singing happy birthday to him. Just adding insult to more emotional injury!
There's one episode that makes me lose ALL respect for Robert. It's the one with the Christmas letter where he has to face how pathetic he is about saving a letter for ten years. That one part where he pretty much says that when anything good happens to him he feels like it's a big middle finger to Ray and then he says that he says a prayer that bad things happen to Ray well that would have been it for me if I was Ray. If I was Ray after hearing that I would have said "ok Robert I can't have you come around here anymore until you get yourself some serious psychological help. Look i can handle sibling rivalry i mean that's life but to find out that you actually pray to God that bad things happen to me how am I supposed to be ok with that!? What do you want Robert? Do u want me to lose my job? Have my wife leave me and take the kids? Or worse do u wish I was dead? Cause truthfully I don't know how I can get over that fact. I don't feel safe around you and I fear for my family's safety if they're around you. So like I said until u get some serious psychological help I don't want you around me or my wife and kids." Sibling rivalry is one thing praying that bad things happen to your sibling is something else
Ive always wondered to why they lied about his birthday
Robert has never seen his birth certificate? I know it’s done for laughs, but it strains credibility.
Amy's 💅
At no point in his life he ever saw his birth certificate?
Bahahahahaha
People have bad birthdays but Robert's was THE worst.
So wait what does that make Robert
