Hey! I just bought some halogens just like the old ones that you removed from your car in this video! I was very confused as there "looks" like there should be the triangled auto level adjuster like there are in the newer head lights. However, it looks exactly like yours does at 4:35. Your's came like that, correct? You didn't remove the auto leveler adjuster prior to shooting this video? When I look at other halogens on UA-cam, there's nothing there where our adjusters are. This is what made me confused. Thanks in advance for your video. Drive safe!
Hey! At 5:02 you remove the old headlight bracket. This is the bracket that the headlight sits on correct? Is the newer one that much different? Do you HAVE to swap them out?
Cars that did not come with xenons (and thus the auto-leveling lights) do not have the module (LRA), sensors (one on each axle) or wiring for this feature. It could be retrofitted, but was not in this video. We just leveled the lights manually and they will stay there.
@@E39Source my e39 from 1997 came with edc suspension and i got a headlight level ”scoller” is that ”scoller” only on cars with halo pre lci headlights? :)
what high beam bulb are you using? it looks whiter and sorta like a xenon bulb. and also which halo bulbs are you using? they look like a close match to the original xenons. thanks
mrbugatti95 Hello! When I made this video, I was using the Ziza H7 Super White Halogen bulb. However, I switched to the OEM bulb very quickly as the OEM bulb is far brighter than the Ziza bulb. It does have a slight yellow color, but I prefer light output to light color honestly. As for the halos, I used a 6000k bulb I found on eBay. That may sound scary, but I have never once had an issue. Here is a link to a similar product that I used: goo.gl/tl6EP1. Thank you for the comment, and I hope this helps, cheers! -Kennan
Jarno Krook there is a difference between halogen and xenon headlight...xenon has much more working temp then a halogen and therefore the xenon headlight has some extra ventilation holes for a heath to go away..otherwise your xenon bulbs will burn after few months

Hey guys! Can you make a small video about cleaning your old lights? my lights on my E39 are blurry, and kinda dangerous to drive with it, so i have to aim the lights down, and use high beams, thankfully i don't drive at night with that car, and i use my other car for night drives, can you make a small video about cleaning them to "look new" ? Thanks E39 family, ill join you guys soon, i have a good build happening haha ;)
is this "upgrade" a street legal in USA? It is not in Europe..for this you need additional leveling sensors on front and rear axle...because depending of weight of load and passengers number at back seat, your rear axle will be lower and the beam will aim higher and then the motors should automatic lower the beam to init position...or same thing by strong braking.
this is true...in USA you are lucky then..here in EU you do not pass the tech. inspection if they do not level automatic ;(. ..so you are not allowedto drive the car on the street...what bulbs are in headlights?
yes They can but it should auto level it self when You drive as far as I know :) So You wont blind other drivers... After change You dont have problem with errors (check) I assume - did You code it?
Ideally, yes. But if you correctly level them, they won't blind oncoming drivers. Some minor coding had to be done to cancel a low beam bulb warning, I think. Kennan's other part of this job (or later on in this one) should highlight that.

You have to wet-sand them. Buffing even with a pro tool doesn't really do it. Waxing/Formula 1 just temporarily works.
Which bulbs are they? 55w?
hakan mehmedi Whatever the factory bulbs are. Might actually be 35w
look 6000k ?
The xenons are about 5,500 kelvins.

The same is required here. But you can negate most of the negative effects by proper leveling, even if that is a static adjustment.

These come with the D2S xenon bulbs. They are either GE or Phillips.
But what about auto-leveling ? You put Xenon lights without it ?
Yes, they can be manually leveled to specification.
