UIRI signs an MoU with Tororo Textile Skills Development and Production Center

  • Last Sunday, Uganda Industrial Research Institute officially launched the Tororo Textile Skills & Development Centre and donated the following working machines; a Straight Stitching Sewing Machine, Overlocking/Baby locking sewing machine, Button Loling machine, Button Attaching machine,
    Semi-Automatic Cutting Machine, Industrial Hot Press Irons, and Fabrics processing units.
    The Center is expected to benefit the community through job creation, skills development, and providing income to enhance the social and economic standards of the community members.
    The Memorandum of Understanding will ensure UIRI's continuous support to the Youth and Women in Tororo District following the training of 40 Youths who were previously skilled in textile and Garment making from UIRI's Namanve Campus last year.
    While commissioning the center, and after assenting to the MOU, The Executive Director of UIRI, Prof Charles Kwesiga encouraged other youth interested in Technology Transfer and Development Programs to apply for training opportunities at the UIRI MMISDC Facility.
