Never felt bored even thou it has been 40 years listening and playing this song..thumbs up carlos santana..
great teacher, you basically make us learn it by ourselfs with great guidance and technique tips. Just a great and smart way of teaching imo. Thanks for this, helped me lots!! I struggled with the solo a lot, your dissection made it possible for me, now I gotta learn the tempo lol
"and then you go... [impossible playing]... right?"
priceless !
love your lessons!
Thank you! Hands down the best player and teacher! I was once asked who I would most like to play like, Answer: Carlos Santana!
So soulful, touches me to my very being. When I play this song it's all feeling.
Shutup & Play simply rocks!...best guitar tutorials on the net. Period. Thank You.
Thx shut up and play guitar, learned this classic years ago and picked up on it right away!
Our man carlos sure had some feel in his playing,AMAZING tune to play
Thx for that
Wow my friend!! You make this song sound so good....I know I have a long way to go to learn all of these parts, but I'm determined to get it right after seeing your tutorial. Such a great song with so many beautiful licks! This one is definitely one of the harder ones by Santana to make sound like the master himself, but well worth the effort. Thanks a million for all of your lessons, they have helped me tremendously!
Thanks Andy, for your hard work, and all your added comments, and insight. I give you kudos for doing something you love and are very good at, its a same that the world doesn't see your talents and reward all you great teachers and players what it should. Thanks again I'll shut up and start playing.

THAT IS A SHAME YOU DO NOT SHOW THE TABLATURE, YOU PLAY THE BEST OF SANTANA. THANK YOU .
Man, damn good lesson. I've played this before but I was leaving out many of the little nuances. Thank you
nice! thank you!
When he plays it live Santana also quotes the Jackson 5 "never can say goodbye" and George Benson "Breezin'"
Your dissection of tunes has always amazed me. Do you go strictly by ear, or do you sometimes refer to the circle of fifths?
Great man. Thx !!!!

Así o más claro?
The lessons are good. Tabs would make them better, in my opinion. I understand why you don't do it. Transcribing this material is a long and arduous job, not to mention the copyright cops making things even more difficult.
Thanks Ray. Tabs are the worst way to learn music. Using them will keep you dependent. The goal is to be able to hear something and then play it. You'll NEVER get there using tabs. Do you think Carlos used tabs? or Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix etc.? Not a chance! My advice to people is if you absolutely need a visual reference, then make your own tab from the video. Cheers
Thanks for the reply. I'm a 69 year old guitar hobbyist, not a musician. Picked up an acoustic seven years ago learning instrumentals on UA-cam and various web sites. A year and a half ago I picked up an electric guitar.
Santana, Page, Hendrix and guys like you are not only musicians but you are artists. No, you musicians don't need tabs but guys like me do. I'm never going to be a performer, for two reasons. I won't live long enough to get good enough and I don't have any talent. I don't care what anybody says, to perform like you do you need some talent to go with the practice. I could practice my ass off 'til hell freezes over and I would NEVER be able to play like you, even if I lived for another twenty years. If I was restricted to learning a song strictly by ear. HAHA..... I'd soon be selling my guitar on Ebay. It's amazing that guys used to do that 30 years ago. I knew a pro musician who had a band and played in night clubs. He learned a song using a reel to reel. There were no tabs and sheet music for current hits were scarce as hen's teeth. Unbelievable.
Frankly, your lessons are too advanced for guys like me but I'm willing to take a crack at this one because it's a beaut. The video is good. I can slow it down and play it back enough times to transcribe to tablature it with Transcibe In a about a year I might be able to play it as well enough that you might actually be able to recognize the tune if you listen closely...and tell you the name of the song first. :)
Finally, you say tabs are bad. Would learning notation be more beneficial?
I have made one discovery supporting your assertion that tabs are bad. Many of the guitar tutorials with tabs on UA-cam have poorly transcribed tabs, meaning they don't coincide with the actual notes in areas played by the musician. This leaves me playing a part repeatedly trying to locate the actual notes played but not indicated in the tab. So, it looks like I'm forced to learn some notes by ear whether I want to or not.
Asking about notation is the wrong question. Afterall, Glen Campbell, Emmanuel, Van Halen and Clapton couldn't read music but I bet they knew music theory, particularly as it pertains to the guitar. Perhaps you could recommend a good book on music theory. Please don't recommend Guitar Theory For Dummies. THAT book is NOT for beginners.
@@ShutupAndPlayGuitarTutorials First of all, many thanks for your videos! I make my own tabs from listening to your playing. Makes it easier for me to memorize all the parts. It worked great for part 1 of your tutorial but part 2 is a tough nut to crack. Took me two hours to write down the first 4 minutes of your video...😥
Lost me at the 5 minute mark or so, too fast no explanation.
If it's too fast, and you need more explaining, you're most likely playing over your head. Learn some simpler stuff before trying to tackle something like this.
@@ShutupAndPlayGuitarTutorials I can and will learn the song I think maybe your target audience for this video are more learned and experienced players. If I could learn by just sound and watching someone play it I could just watch Santana play. Just my two cents, I am grateful that you would even spend any of your time to give us free content so take it for what it’s worth.
