The Quagmire thing will surely come right now in episode 2, when he starts working with various adventuring groups to make a name for himself so that, if Zenith is in the area, she'll hear about him and approach him.
This is just the first chapter of volume 7 which is the start of the depression arc, Rudy is not healed at all, he is rathr just, not suicidal, which is one step forward

It wasn't shown in the LN, WN or manga but I hope that Rudeus was able to improve his Fire Magic to such as level that he was able to cast:- (1) White-Flames => King/Emperor-Rank (2) Blue-Falmes => God-Rank Magic But due to the destructive Nature of Fire-Magic, Rudeus should've opted to use "Yellow Flames" as a Std.
It's not that he doesn't like fire magic but in most situations he's been in, it's the least effective, in the demon continent what they hunt is what they eat, so he can't use fire or they get burnt to cinders and the AoE is too big, so to let Eris grow fighting and not ruin their food, he had to settle with Earth magic which was the most adequate for that, same issue in using fire magic on the beast forest, it's like "duh ofc not" and also can't use it on small places or causes suffocation due to burning the oxygen

As far as any actual scientists have THEORIZED, it's likely completely impossible. This is why it's often such a cop out in fictional stories.
