Imagine if he was at full power. Later on, Ichigo states that in Bankai, his outfit’s state is determined by how much of his reiatsu he had remaining. Here it looks like about a third. Since he was still in Bankai when he transformed, we can assume he didn’t have his full strength.

He didn't necessarly do it to save inoue or ishida, he did it to break ichigo's hollowfication and hopefully have enough power left to fight ichigo until either of them was truly and permanently dead. Shortly after though, ulquiorra's injuries proved too much and he couldn't stay alive long enough to fight ichigo again.

Ulquiorra stood no chance, cero or no cero. His only chance to win was when white was momentarily supressed because of ichigo's desire to save inoue overpowering white's consciousness. Ulquiorra was smart and did exactly what he had to do, but the damage was already done.
This is Zangetsu when he isn’t fighting against Ichigo for control, meaning he can go all out. He is able to overwhelm Ulqiorra because he acts more like a beserker and uses his hollow instincts effectively, while also showing that he is better at using Ichigo’s bankai when he is able to summon Zangetsu( sword form) back to him without even trying. It also shows how far the hollow side of Ichigo’s powers will go to protect him, and how strong Ichigo would have been if he had his true powers from the beginning.
I think the reason he was able to pull the sword towards him is because its technically a part of him. Ichigo’s hollow and his zanpakuto are the same spirit. So it makes perfect sense why he would be able to do that while we never see ichigo do it

In fact when Ichigo fought his two zangetsu fused, for the getsuga tensho final; it only had one horn like the actual bankai of him, so i think its a coincidence xD.
Bleach has so much foreshadowing they even foreshadowed Yhwach in a color book that showed all villains in order and on top of Aizen was black energy in the shape of Yhwach

And the shinigami really didn't like that, so they (as usual) put in place drastic measures to prevent it, i.e. a ceremony to condemn the souls of their captain-level shinigami to hell without warning them. But Ulquiorra scattered into dust, meaning that no ceremony could ever be performed for him. I'm not saying Ulquiorra isn't in hell (especially as it means we might see him again) but the process may not be automatic and he could have got there in another way.

Strictly speaking, he was right. Ichigo didn't overwhelm him by increasing his offense, but by decreasing Ulquiorra's defense! (By forcing his healing factor to work on a giant chest slash, then blasting him point-blank to do lasting internal damage while the guts were exposed _and_ overtax the regen until it couldn't keep up.)
The fact that Ichigo can go full Vasto Lorde and be toe and toe with Ulr means that he has the potential to eventually, hipotheticaly, transform in a Espada later. Wich means Ichigo's powers are more stronger that the plot lets on in that time. If the fight goes for more time he may had evolve naturally to Espada and recall his conciousnes I guess. Remeber that Hollows evolve with stride.

The mask that comes out from Ichigo is actually his hollow and shinigami powers combined, whilst for a Vizard the mask is purely hollow.

People don't realize two things in this fight. The first is that Ichigo died in his fight, and just like with his spirit chains in the beginning of the series, Hollow Ichigo brought him back. Second being just how much of a monster Hollow Ichigo is.
So when you watch the roaring scene at 3:21, I actually like the dubbed version more. It sounds like a menacing shrill/scream over an demonic roar. Both scenes are amazing regardless, I love this fight so much!
Honestly, these are episodes you need to watch in full, a clip isn't enough. Even as amazing as the fight seems when shortened, this one deserves the buildup it gets during those moments you aren't seeing here.
Man, the fact that in that hollow form Ichigo had only 1 arm of this Shihakushō and was mopping the floor with Ulquiorra in his second release says way more about Ichigo than Ulquiorra.

I just found another thing that I love this scene ... At first Ulqoira bullying Uryu, and Uryu is looking for a weakness in that fight ... But Ulqoira acting like showing there's no such a thing as weakness, and there is no way someone who are weaker can beat someone who are stronger ... Then after, When Ulqoira got bullied by VLchigo, he accepted his lost and tell VLchigo to end his life ... But VLchigo distracted by Uryu, leaving Ulqo alone ... And giving time for Ulqo to think for VLchigo's weakness and strike there ... Proofing that someone weaker can beat someone stronger if they can found and attack the weakness ...
Thank you, finally someone who doesn't randomly call his form "Vasto Lorde". I never understood why people thought that. I could think it's closer to arrancars' resurrection but there is no change in the sword given the fact this state of hollow still holds his bankai. When he fights Aizen looks more like it. His blade fuses with himself.
I watch this 14 years ago when my age 25 now my age 39.. Aizen was a success researching hollow(ichigo). I hope next time Aizen can keep continue researching...
An incredibly rare sight in all of anime. Ignoring Ulquiorra, there's no talking, dramatic pauses or mercy. Just going all out with murderous intent. If more were no-nonsense like this, anime in general would be either movie or OVA format at best :D And damn is it a joy to behold. Imagining any great characters fight like this gives me goosebumps. The closest we got to this was Broly's fight in the recent DB movie, or Gon losing his shit in Hunter X Hunter.
I love how in the end the creator just decided that Ichigo is all of the things. Like FUCK IT! He's a Human, a Shinigami, a Visored/Vasto Lorde, and a Quincy all at once. Regardless of how absurd it is, I still loved growing up on this show and cannot wait for the rest of new anime to come out.
when I saw this fight when it aired, I dubbed it then as the Greatest Fight in Anime History. this was the most impressive show of strength before Kenpachi Showed his Bankai i had ever seen.
Ngl kinda bs that Hollow Ichigo is able to bare hand the dude's spear nuke. I would've have liked it more if they made the fight closer. Ichigo was getting bodied but his new form let him body Ulquiorra. Felt like it would have been a better fight and made more sense if Ichigo actually took some damage.
technically this fight is the first time ichigo uses a fraction of his true shinigami/ hollow powers without being nerfed by quincy zangetsu. so it makes sense that there is a night and day difference between nerfed and un nerfed

the more I watch these the more Im convinced the subtitles are wrong and are of the english script rather than a full translation of the japanese script. you hear them say things with no subtitle but then you see a subtitle with no spoken dialogue.
People gave Orihime a lot of flak when this aired, especially in the dub version, but the Japanese VA was acting her ass off. You could really feel a sense of despair in her voice. She was going through it. Edit: This is actually a really good foreshadowing of Ichigo's conversation with Zangetsu in FKT. Here, Shirosaki is the one who brought Ichigo back from the brink to save the one Ichigo wanted to protect. It is only after his hollow form is broken and the threat is over, that Zangetsu restores Ichigo's body. (That is why the light is blue when his hollow hole fills back up). Zangetsu didn't care about saving Inoue or Uryuu. Shiro, despite being a hollow, always supported Ichigo's desires while Zangetsu only cared about preserving his life.
This wasn't Ichigo fighting Ulquiorra, it was actually White. Remember, White told Ichigo that when he falls, he'll take over. This showed how powerful White actually is.

Ulquiorra was such a great character. He was the most monstrous out of them all but somehow still the most human

People don't realize two things in this fight. The first is that Ichigo died in his fight, and just like with his spirit chains in the beginning of the series, Hollow Ichigo brought him back. Second being just how much of a monster Hollow Ichigo is.

Honestly, these are episodes you need to watch in full, a clip isn't enough. Even as amazing as the fight seems when shortened, this one deserves the buildup it gets during those moments you aren't seeing here.
Man, the fact that in that hollow form Ichigo had only 1 arm of this Shihakushō and was mopping the floor with Ulquiorra in his second release says way more about Ichigo than Ulquiorra.

I love how in the end the creator just decided that Ichigo is all of the things. Like FUCK IT! He's a Human, a Shinigami, a Visored/Vasto Lorde, and a Quincy all at once. Regardless of how absurd it is, I still loved growing up on this show and cannot wait for the rest of new anime to come out.

technically this fight is the first time ichigo uses a fraction of his true shinigami/ hollow powers without being nerfed by quincy zangetsu. so it makes sense that there is a night and day difference between nerfed and un nerfed

the more I watch these the more Im convinced the subtitles are wrong and are of the english script rather than a full translation of the japanese script. you hear them say things with no subtitle but then you see a subtitle with no spoken dialogue.

People gave Orihime a lot of flak when this aired, especially in the dub version, but the Japanese VA was acting her ass off. You could really feel a sense of despair in her voice. She was going through it.
Edit: This is actually a really good foreshadowing of Ichigo's conversation with Zangetsu in FKT. Here, Shirosaki is the one who brought Ichigo back from the brink to save the one Ichigo wanted to protect. It is only after his hollow form is broken and the threat is over, that Zangetsu restores Ichigo's body. (That is why the light is blue when his hollow hole fills back up). Zangetsu didn't care about saving Inoue or Uryuu. Shiro, despite being a hollow, always supported Ichigo's desires while Zangetsu only cared about preserving his life.
