  • Jimmy Greaves is a footballing legend. He remains Tottenham's all time top scorer, and also netted over 400 goals across his career. He is one of the greatest forwards English football has ever seen, and his story is one full of both triumph and tragedy.

    "One of the greatest strikers"?
He was THE greatest ever English striker.
My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

You don't miss something very special

Only seeing some of the clips of this legend since he sadly passed away. It's pretty obvious how good he was. The way he dribbled past players and left defenders for dead reminded me of Messi. He was a great finisher too. A real class act. The way the fans celebrated his goals showed he was almost god like. RIP Greavsie. Enjoy your well earned rest 🇨🇮

What a legend. RIP Sir James Greaves. They need a statue of him ASAP. Never heard a bad word about him, all of his peers loved him. His autobiography, "Greavsie", is the best ive ever read and thoroughly recommended.

It’s strange that we have no statues around our ground, could easily have Ledley king, bill Nicholson, jimmy greaves, sandy brown, Arthur rowe and Danny blanchflower but we’ve not got any statues at all.

@@Jaybale3 very strange..Im a Stoke fan...yeah I know!....but can't understand why the greatest goalscorer in English footballs history isn't honoured with a statue at a club where he is their record goalscorer. Sad times indeed. Best wishes to you

Always said that Greaves was the player who made me suffer the most. I remember the day White got struck by lightning and seeing the headline `Spurs star struck by lightning... Dead`. I couldn`t wait to get off the bus and buy the paper, I was praying that it was Greavsie. That`s how good he was and its probably the biggest compliment I can pay him. Funnily enough, despite my hatred of him as a player, I actually came to quite like him when he retired and moved into punditry. If someone had of told me that as a kid I`d have thought they`d have lost their fuckin minds.
