Thank you soooooooo much!! All of my angles were off, nothing wsa ever 90 degrees. Quite shocking to find that my left and right side of the Y-axis were actually 4 mm off! I applied the technique with the belts, and now I can use my laser cutter again. You are a life saver.

i upgrade my laserhead to lu2-10a but has 3mm difference on y axis ... i draw 20x20mm square it cut wll de 3.2mm plywood but when i see the result x axis is 20mm and y is 23/25 mm.. comw rexomedation ?
Hi, thank you for your comment. I guess your y axis steps/mm is not set correctly. Make sure the $101 in the grbl configuration is set correctly; for most desktop laser engravers the value should be 80. I hope it helps. Ciao

This may be caused by either the use of current/custom origin instead of absolute or you are facing dimension problems. Perhaps the design is in mm, and the software is set to inches. Hi, thank you for your comment. A blurred engraving may be caused by a dirty lens or a wrong focus height; I suggest checking the lens and cleaning it if necessary first. A simple way to verify the least cleanliness is to raise the laser up all the way, fire at low power (0.5 to 2%) on a surface and check if the projection is scattered, if it is the lens needs cleaning or replacement. If the problem is not the lens and you are setting the focus correctly, I suggest running a focus test to verify whether the height is correct. I am experiencing ghosting on the bottom half of my 4x4 inch image. I'm going to try this method of re-tightening the belts, but I'm also hearing stories of it being caused to the diode not focusing. Do you have any videos on that topic? Thanks

If by ghosting you mean line skips, this is usually due to slack belt, but in an image engraving the machine scans bottom to top, therefore this should not occur. Another problem could be thermal where the laser module basically drops in power while working to cool down, however in your case this does not explain the phenomenon in the first bottom half of your image unless the bottom half is darker or has more details, and therethore the laser works more there. Let me know the model of your machine and the engraving parameters of your image, also confirm if the image is darker or fuller at the bottom. Ciao

Hi, lewy; thank you for your comment. cipry1010 gave you a correct hint; look at the direction of distortion. the simplest way is to fill engrave some text in standard Horizontal lines; if it comes out okay, it will exclude the x-axis since usually is the fast axis used for fill engraving. Another method is to engrave a circle. In general, if an axis is fine, the diameter in that direction should be correct. I will give you a simple example and procedure to understand how to read tests. First, home your machine, then set the custom origin or position you circle project anywhere up and to the left of your home or laser; by doing so, you make sure that the leading meaning is the section of the belt going up and to the right is under tension. Say your circle engraves clockwise starting at 12 o'clock with both belts under tension on the leading side. The first quadrant, i.e. the arc up to 3 o'clock, should be perfect, then the x-axis will start reversing its direction while the y-axis continues going down, If you notice a flattened section after 3 o'clock, it means that the x-axis needs tightening. If the circle continues smoothly, meaning that the right side up to 6 o'clock is perfect, then you have no problems with the x-axis and measuring the vertical diameter should correspond to the diameter you set the circle. Now going on, from 6 o'clock, if you notice a flattened section or a variation in the shape of the curve, your y-axis or axes or the rod should be tightened. Check the preview where the circle starts, so you can apply this procedure. If you are using LightBurn, you can select the starting point and choose the direction of the engraving. With LaserGRBL is not as simple but by applying the same logic, you can figure out the problem I hope it helps

For me it was double image when I first assembled my x7 pro. It was just loose belts on the Y gantries. Thought it needed a lil slack but it needs to be not too tight but tight
