Amazing! Newell Banks was my Dad's uncle. He was the world checker champion who wrote a book called "Scientific Checkers." As a child, Dad thought he was playing a magician, because he never looked at the board. His blindfold checkers simuls were said to be amazing.
I love how Antonio rather than making a separate video about chess principles teaches them in an interesting manner while showing an interesting game!!!!
Thank you for explaining the simpler stuff. I've always loved chess but am not a very strong player and don't have a lot of time to study it, so it's nice to have the more standard knowledge explained.
Damn.....I can't won end games in blitz with a whole took up, and this man Capablanca wins end games with just a pawn up as if he's a queen up. Unbelievable
5:14 -- Banks' idea wasn't unsound, he just blundered by lifting the wrong rook to buttress his file-blockading bishop. Retreating via Be2 (after Capablanca's Re8) is not only not the only good move, it may possibly not even be the superior move. For example, Rd3 (instead of Rf3 or Be2), Re4, g3, and everything is fine and headed for an easier-to-obtain draw than with open files. -- It should be noted that Banks has no chance of securing more than a draw with optimal play at this point, particularly against an opponent of infamously fearsome endgame skill in positions of equal material. Capablanca's pawns on light squares may indeed be immune to Banks' powerful bishop, but such only remains the case if he refrains from advancing them. IMO, if Banks had offered a draw after Rd3, Re4, g3, Capablanca might have been inclined to accept it (especially as Black), since he would be undertaking more risk in loosening up the board and permitting the opponent's bishop to roam freely versus his slower knight.
OK, I must be missing something really obvious but at 11:42 why does Banks play Rc8? Can't he simply capture the passed pawn on b2? He's still losing but it's a much better choice than Rc8 unless I'm missing something!
Heisenberg95 _ after night back to f3, and queen takes the pawn and rook g1, white just has better development and more center control because black moved the queen so much.
Hi there man. Loving ur vids man, great job and tnx brother. Helo me: What are the first 5 books u can suggest me to read to ger better. I am 1250 in lichess( average) Would really appreciate ur help guys
I like that you are explaining why more predictable moves that a new player may make, are not the best moves
Amazing! Newell Banks was my Dad's uncle. He was the world checker champion who wrote a book called "Scientific Checkers." As a child, Dad thought he was playing a magician, because he never looked at the board. His blindfold checkers simuls were said to be amazing.
Thank you so much for explaining the more simple tactical and strategical aspects of the moves. It really helps all of us moderate players
Thank you for explaining moves like demonstrated in 1:41, as a new player it really helps understanding mechanics
" ..., or does he ?" I fell for it
In India its 3:00 A.M. but I am still watching this! This is agadmators magic
So much for taking a day off!
The stalemate trap from Banks is just smart as hell. I could have captured the rook immediately damn 😧😧
Explaining obvious but bad moves is great. It helps understanding the ideas of the players and it is a good lesson by an even better teacher.
Man feels so nice watching a capablanca game for my deserved break
I knew Mr Banks his name is not pronounced as Nevel but as Noo[ I played him twice as a young man he would give mixed Chess and Checker exhibitions
I like the new format, Toni, exploring possibilities and strategies.
This new format of commentary is amazing showing the basic variations on blunders
Because of you I've changed my last name to Captures and named my son Captures.
I love how Antonio rather than making a separate video about chess principles teaches them in an interesting manner while showing an interesting game!!!!
Thank you for this agad. Your making my birthday a great one with a capablanca game!
*IN THE SPIRIT OF MIKHAIL TAL*
To mischa
"Basically, I upload everything that I personally find interesting." that's the way...
Weirdly pleased to hear about Banks's checkers background, because I was kind of expecting a checkers analysis for April Fool's. :P
Thank you for explaining the simpler stuff. I've always loved chess but am not a very strong player and don't have a lot of time to study it, so it's nice to have the more standard knowledge explained.
“It’s a rook endgame where Capablanca is a pawn up.” And that’s in this position that I knew how the game would end :)
Thank you to explain even simple positions for beginner players !
Nice job avoiding the stalemate!
Great commentary. Love your game selections
2:02 white could transpose to the Bongcloud and win the game!
Black has the option to go for the Boncloud counter gambit with Ke7 so u can't be sure
Thanks for covering some of the more basic theory
So I found the e5 Night move. It means I am an excellent subscriber while still a precisely lousy player . Thanks, Antonio
I walked right into that stall mate xD
So now i know four Masters of Checkers, Ivanchuk, Baduur, my uncle and Banks
:) Thank you :)
2:24 - "he he hee is a very strong player"
I love the way he says *Capablanca*
When Monday runs awfully wrong and agadmator uploads a video at the end of the day.
happily its VACation for the young ones
Always good to see Mr.Bean analyze chess matches
Perfect endgame technique by Capablanc!
Finally.... A good piece before my chess tournament!
Really interesting end game. Both were very clever in their own way. Capablanca a little more clever!
I totally would have felt smart when capturing that rook then felt stupid when Banks pointed out he's stalemated. I didn't see that trap at all.
Yes!! capablanca saga again...
I learn a lot from the commentary.
Agadmator, I’m sure many subscribers would be interested in your chess tutorials! Personally, I’d wonna study chess openings
Simply amazing...
its 3am in india... i am watching this :) i am an excellent subscriber... :)
your best video so far, 😍very educating
I found every "pause the video" move I'm shook
Newell rhymes with jewel, you have exchanged a 'w' for a 'v', but the position is still even
THANK YOU AGAD MATOR
4.23 now i learned something very important
Hello. Thanks Agad
If anyone didn't watch the Kashdan game Agad mentioned in this video, WATCH IT! It's an amazing game
Damn.....I can't won end games in blitz with a whole took up, and this man Capablanca wins end games with just a pawn up as if he's a queen up. Unbelievable
Hey @agadmator, Did you tell the couch story? or did I miss it?
You have to try few checks before you resign.

Exactly. Confusing the audience.
Ok
A very nice game!
I am a simple man
I see Agad
I click
"And here black has a rook and a pawn and white doesn't."
@agadmator , which book would you recommend for learning openings? is there anything by Capablanca himself?
"and after capture capture it's a...well black has a rook and a pawn and white doesn't, so it's pretty much self explanatory"
NEVER CLICKED SO FAST BEFORE!!
11:07 the Stalemate Gambit
A wonderful game, but agadmator, what happened to your couch?!?!
11:06 I would capture that rook immediately and facepalm afterwards
FINALLY
Capablanca was playing chess while Newell was playing checkers
OK, I must be missing something really obvious but at 11:42 why does Banks play Rc8? Can't he simply capture the passed pawn on b2? He's still losing but it's a much better choice than Rc8 unless I'm missing something!
Blk rook to g2 wins whites rook if you do that.
@@theryeguy1986 Of course! I knew I was missing something obvious, thanks for pointing it out.
Great game
At 2:46 couldn't you put knight on D7 and protect the Bishop?
Audio is much improved compared to your Kashdan video. Different microphone?
"....welcome back to the good stuff." Like we've only been getting bottom shelf chess during the break from the saga...
As the title suggests, we all know it's about opening theory.
11:15 I would have fallen for that. And that's why I'm bad at chess?
"You will often have a rook endgame being a pawn up..." Not me, #agadmator.
Is it only me or did no one else get the notification for this video?
Finallyyy😍 like before watch! 😀
7:49 Mistake. Capablanca has no past pawns .
wtf I always repeat the "hello everyone" 3 times in any video of u lol
I always thought the correct move is Qg5 at 1:42 ?!?
Heisenberg95 _ after night back to f3, and queen takes the pawn and rook g1, white just has better development and more center control because black moved the queen so much.
Ng4 saves both the knight and g2 pawn
TheKKiriNN engine doesn’t like that one, a5 maybe? Kicks away the knight force capture
@@TheKKiriNN bishop can easily take g4 I think ...
@@chair3736 what does engine say for Qg5 ?
Always give few checks before you resign.
Super
11:42 why rook didn’t capture black on b2?
Rook G2 and white is down a rook and pawn
QuardGame oh sorry missed that trap
Who's end game is better??
*Capablaca or Carlsen* ?
You only can measure a player on his time. 103 years from now sombody will ask. Who's end game is better , Carlsen or ??????. Comprende?.
The man who masters checkers and chess resigns
Why not rook captures b2 11:42?? The b2 pawn is not guarded, or am I missing smth?
Because ♜g2+ will pick up the white rook without putting the white king in stalemate.
@@felipedeornelas8054 I see now, Thanks
@Brian LA I see now, Thanks
3:57 Antonio, I thought you generally want to put your pawns on the same color square as your opponent's bishop?
No, why would you? The bishop will never be a threat, as the pawns are not reachable for him
At 10:20 couldn't black play Rb2 and get a trade and also queen his pawn? Or am I missing something here
I know white was going to queen but wouldn't black have time to stop it?
why capa exchanges the queen as soon as possible in most of the games?
At 11:42 when the white rook was on b8, why didn't it capture the black pawn?
because that would allow for Rg2+ which would lose white his rook after he moves his king
@@marcobella3065 Thank you !!
can you make a top 7 chess players of all time in your opinion?
11:42 why didnt He take The Black pawn with the rook but gives check? Can someone Tell me please?
Rg2+ pick up the rook
#suggestion Gareyev vs Zulfic
Veery nice:)
Isn't the chronology of the Capa Blanca Saga linear?
And where is KAshdans game:)?
Capa here
8:54 ...Rc3 was too obvious to me. Trust the plan, lol.
Why did rook not capture on b2?
11:42 -- Then black would move his rook to G2, check the white king and then pick up the black rook.

My system Aaron Ninzowitz. Always My system If you already Know howto play. It will give you direction.
3:04 error. U said bishop to c4. Its night to c4
Why doesn’t anyone capture the bishop with the b pawn ??
Kappablanka should be a new twitch emote
