    Hello, I'm 56 years old and getting back to shooting film. I'm learning so much from your generation. I admire your commitment to film. All the best. Jim from Georgia.

    Wes Anderson movies hit all the aesthetic points for me, especially his use of colours. Great video!

    I'm always so envious of the color coordination and planning in his movies.

    I grew up in the city where the hotel scenes of ‚The Grand Budapest Hotel‘ were made. And the building itself is quite an emotional piece of architecture there, so I connect with that one in a special way.

    I feel like everybody else that Wes Anderson films are consistently a pleasure to watch, but none moreso than the life aquatic with steve zissou. The creativity in the design of sea creatures and the whole dollhouse look at the ship are two particular aspects that stand out to me, additionally the dialogue is great and really gives a lot of insight into the characters.

    Yes! He‘s one of my favorite directors and Grand Budapest Hotel is my favorite movie of all time. Thank you so much ☺️
    I really can‘t decide which Kubrick movie is my favorite. It‘s either A Clockwork Orange or Shining.

    How I love the colours in your setting: the bright white on the left and the 'wesandersony' orange on the right! I suspect it's no accident. Love your inspiring and thoughtful videos :)

    T, I wish I had you as a professor when I was studying film in university! Well said! Wes Anderson is truly a master at the craft. I really like these short write ups on directors.
    And I’m happy you talked about how difficult the seemingly simple shots are. Blocking the scene, lighting, and framing takes so many moving parts to accomplish and make it seem so seamless.
    Top Wes Anderson film for me is The Grand Budapest Hotel. Kubrick would have to be The Shinning!

    This was so insightful. I enjoyed his movies and story telling. But I think what drew me initially was his “look”. Great video!!

    Thank you for another preternaturally relevant vid! I'm thinking of switching to B&W only for a while until I can find space to *think* aesthetically in color. I feel I have nothing to say in color right now, and it's confusing my learning curving.

    • @TatianaHopper
      @TatianaHopper  3 роки тому +2

      What's important is to learn and improve doesn't matter how we do, the path is different for everyone so if you feel you should concentrate on black and white, do it, I'm sure you'll learn a lot!

    Favorite Wes Anderson is probably Royal Tenanbaums. Favorite Kubrick - 2001: A Space Odyssey closely followed by Barry Lyndon. It's tough. They're all masterpieces.

    Anderson - so far only seen one The Grand Budapest Hotel

    The Darjeeling Limited ... because, well India. I also didn't find the symmetry of the compositions as distracting as later movies. Kubrick? Barry Lyndon for for the fast lenses and as much natural light as possible.

    Love this, love Anderson! If interested, check out Alan Rudolph's Trouble In Mind. A great study in color for character development, progression, a sense of time passing of time out of time, etc. He also uses costume and props like this as well. I think you would find it interesting knowing your stuff on lynch. Besides, photographers are basically film makers without a budget. LOL a few of my other favorites are Lynch, Jarmusch, Wenders, Kubrick, Soderberg, Gilliam- yeah my photography is equally influenced by film as other photography if not more by film. Love the channel

    Good documentary. I'm a fan of Wes Anderson's the royal tenenbaums and moonrise kingdom. Moonrise reminds me of a 1960's postcards with moving pictures. But Grand Budapest hotel was out in 2014, not 2004. I don't understand the end of it, but nice

    Article on Robert Yeoman www.anothermag.com/design-living/10447/the-cinematographer-who-brings-wes-andersons-vision-to-life
    Grand Budapest was shot on Arri 35mm camera, Kodak Vision 200T color negative filmstock. Miniatures and stop motion on RED and Canon 5D mark II. Lots of natural light used apparently. The Vision 3 200T is a lovely film stock. Produces strong reds from what I have heard. I have a roll of it to shoot - from silbersalz35.com/ who spool it into 35mm cassettes and will process ECN2 and HDR scan for an all in price. You can use a colour correction filter if you like - 85 (or Full CT Orange) - depending on the look you want. Roger Deakins says - 'I shot with no correction on 'Shawshank' but used an 85 filter on 'No Country For Old Men'.'

    First Kubrick, then Hopper now Wes Anderson....tennis anyone, set, match, point, well done. Well what about you T, do you sometimes consciously set off with a specific colour range when shooting medium format film? Or is it something that inadvertently shows up after the fact?

    • @TatianaHopper
      @TatianaHopper  3 роки тому +1

      Most of the time, if doing something on a serious level I will have colour in attention and its meaning to the scene / work I'm doing.

    Do you film your videos in 25fps and edit them in 24fps? I'm noticing a jittering to the footage (I used to have that problem for a long time).

    • @TatianaHopper
      @TatianaHopper  3 роки тому +1

      Jittering was an effect in the beginning of the video I believe. First Transition if that’s what you mean :)
