When I saw the title I thought it was going to be a comparison between naval flight school and navy nuke school. I went thru the first one as a Marine. I think the second one I mentioned is just a tad more mentally rigorous than what you described.
Same thoughts here ! I thought it was a navy aviator that was in the aircraft carrier Captain pipeline that had to go to Nuc school As an “ old “ guy .
I was a main propulsion engineer (conventional), and worked with people who passed 'nuke school' and those who washed out of it. The USN nuclear Power school is basically BUDS, but for nerds. It has the same wash-out rate as S.O. training- GB, SEAL, MARSOC, PJ, etc.
Former Navy Nuke here - thought the same thing. I can't speak to BUDS or Pensacola, but NNPTC was no joke back in the day, by the time I went through the were already rumblings that it was lightening up, but it's probably still right up there.
Some folks in the comments sections are mixing two different types of “nuke school.” There are missileers (or equivalent) who are responsible for nuclear weapons, and there is the Naval Nuclear Power Program (which starts with “nuke school”), but that is about nuclear reactors for power and not nuclear weapons.
The reactor guys are actually engineers, they hire people out of engineering schools and offer them a two year master’s in nuclear engineering but the airforce guys he’s talking about are not engineers and they’re only job is to learn the protocols for maintaining nuclear missiles and firing them if we come to that.
I'm a recently retired Aerospace/Nuclear Engineer with a large American defense contractor's Fleet Ballistics Missile company, so I have more than a passing knowledge of all things aero and nuclear. Back in the day one of my golfing/drinking/skirt chasing buddies was a former A.F. Nuke Missile operator...he is a very cool dude but definitely not a straight-laced arrow either.
Pilot jus got have the hours that it you got the hours and you can take off and land in all of the instruments on the panels it's really not that bad and most of the stuff is done with with set up as a drone nowadays so you're not even actually in the aircraft
One thing that makes being a pilot cool is that not everyone can do it. I enjoy it but I have been plane obsessed since childhood. If you just think it sounds "cool", you won't have the drive to push through the challenges.
Bottom line. Working hard in flight school was too demanding, so he liked "nuke" school so it was easy and more fun. This guy wasn't a good fit to be a military officer, glad he is no longer in uniform. Slacker.
Yes, ofcourse I indeed give him all my nuclear power information to this guy. He is cashing in that. Thanks bro. I am happy that you are making a living out of my life. He is so poor I thought I will help him.
No one knows if the UK has nukes?! I dont think this guy knows what hes talkikg about. Also, I guarantee learning to fly is a lot more fun than learning how to sit in a bunker!
@DavidJones-hr9bn That is true, but to claim that learning to fly is no fun........it's awesome! I guess it might suck if someone is no good at it though.
I’m suggesting he didn’t have “the right stuff”….the USAF weeds out the chaff, and ONLY Academy grads get pilot slots/fighters. Everyone else gets bombers or missiles. 😂

I’m in Navy Flight school, close to finishing. It’s real rough, it’s fun, and I wouldn’t change it for the world…but it sucks sometimes
That’s cool man! What stage are you at? Do you find it’s the time crunch or the pressure or both? I just got selected for SNA
@ are you in AirWarriors by chance? You can PM me there if you want, I’ll be happy to answer all questions you have
@ yes I am! What’s your handle?

I knew a nuke guy at Lowry AFB that lost his security clearance and kicked out of nuke school over a book he checked out of the base library.
I knew you weren't talking about Navy Nuke school at 0:24
I also thought they were talking about Navy Nuke School
03:48 everyday spy telling us he has taken an undercover role
I heard that the rate of cancer among missileers is on the high side. Is that true?
Quite a difference from my 4 years pulling a total of 300 24 hour alerts in Montana. Things change.
Not a whole lot! You averaged a little over one in five days underground, he averaged one in six with no Cold War adversary to worry about!
But, that was the job; plus, the travel time to the silo.
Wow. Glad I went to Pensacola!
Makes me wish I didn't say no...
Until you get to the Wing and start doing monthly T1 and T3/4 classes…. And dealing with ICBMs. Yeah, no pressure….

So this guy went to flight school? Did he flunk out?
I'm confused as well since every other podcast he's on he's a CIA operator.
Air force academy -> nuclear officer -> cia -> cvs corporate -> private intelligence contractor-> podcast guy/ entrepreneur
@@marrg-n5r flunked flight school somewhere in there
You always think everyone wants to be a pilot . Nice hearing someone say that it wasn't for him .
I'm a pilot and it is an insane amount of information to be tested on.

Hey , LowBar !
This should be retitled, "The difficulties in reconciling a privileged upbringing with pervasive grievance culture."

The Air Force actually calls it “Nuke School”?
Thought he was talking about Navy nuke school for a sec.
In my day, it was called "IQT" - Initial Qualification Training.
For an ex CIA, he talks a lot

You couldn’t pay some people enough to fly, let alone learn to fly! Makes no sense to me, but different folks have different aptitudes.

Just looking at him, I'd say that Air Force is well rid of this 'officer'.
Your comment makes you sound unintelligent.
It's not even his looks, every video I have seen, he comes off bad. Dude said he was going to ditch America when it gets bad.
Officers are regular people. More at 11.
Also, this gentleman continued to serve his country as a CIA Operative after his Military Service…
When people see people in the Army and Navy during the Civil War had beards... AHHHHHHH DIRT BAGGG!
