    Jerry and Linda, We love your videos so much, we just bought a house in the Village of Monarch Grove!! We appreciate your candor and variety of subjects you address.. Thank you, and keep the videos coming! We're glad to see Linda doing so well. Give Gizmo a hug for us and..."We'll see YOU when we get there"!

    Love your videos and the information you share. I moved my mother to the area a few years ago and she loves it. She is up in the Spanish Springs area and as far as hardware stores go, The Lowe's up by 27/441 is accessible by the cart bridge and using your white card can get you out of the gate to access Super Walmart, Aldi and Lowe's. I'm sure you guys already knew this and just wanted to inform others about the area. Keep up the good work!

    Hi Jerry and Linda! Good information to know for those of us considering a move to The Villages. I was disappointed that Gizmo did not talk about golf cart access to the dog parks located in The Villages. Perhaps he'll mention this in the next video. Many thanks to both of you for all the valuable information you provide. :)

    After living in Florida for the past 9 months and investigating The Villages for the past three I found my new paradise in The Villages of Southern Oaks and Monarch Grove. I'll be moving in late December and am really excited about joining the Lifestyle TV affords.

    People ask, why Aldi?? Because it's GREAT!! They don't know what they're missing. That fitness center info is a nasty surprise, tho I bet you'd find they accept Silver Sneakers when you reach that age for your insurance. You guys are so helpful for those contemplating that move.

    Hi I live in the Hacienda area. Over the 466 GC bridge Walmart, Aldi, a new WaWa, Loews many doctor offices are GC accessible. It's a ride but very pleasent. On the south side of 466 2 Publics 1 Winn Dixie, Ace Hardware are golf cart accessible. Home Depot, Best Buy, Sam's Club is close but you have to go by car. There is a DMV on the NW corner of 466A and Morse Blvd. That is very GC friendly for that area. But to join the Country Clubs the only place that I know of is in Sumter Landing., not in the Spanish Springs area as it used to be. Family and adult pools are far from us. We do not have pools near our mail boxes like they do down south. Your pups is sooo cute but be careful he'll steal your show! Thanks

    Jerry and Linda,
    Love your videos! I am curious about the cost of cable TV and Internet, and cell phone service.
    My wife's sister and her husband moved in a couple of months ago near the Wildwood area.
    So far they love it, but they wanted to get away from the winters here up north. We like the seasons,
    struggle with the heat, and I guess we are somewhat brainwashed regarding the bugs,
    lizards, (blue tail?) alligators and snakes. So I believe it isn't for us. Did I mention the hurricane
    evacuations? But we are trying to keep an open mind. Along with the cable service, can you talk
    about the type of construction that goes into the homes there. The prices would appear expensive,
    but if they are using quality materials, that would justify the cost. Thanks again for the videos,
    and we just subscribed to your channel. All the Best.
    Lynn and Art

      It's true. Skip has covered it. The activity fee is competitive in the Villages but less so when you add the gyms on. Jerry has been great at discussing the golf access but he hasn't been through a snowbird season yet. The number of views this vlog is getting is very impressive

    Gizmo is the cutest! The gym here in NY is around $70 but I would have liked it to be included. See if they have a "Silver Sneakers" program at the Villages once you're 65. I think if we lived there we would do what we do here; cook at home all week and maybe go out once or twice a week. This was terrific and very informative. Thanks.

    We moved to The Villages a few months ago (Village of Belvedere) after watching your video. We love it here. We also subscribe to the Villages Daily Sun Newspaper and find it very biased to ‘how great the villages are’. We were surprised we had to pay to use the Gym. We were also surprised by the Golf fees (to use the online tee time, Champioship course and use of Championship pool and special dinning areas). We were also disappointed that there isn’t more sidewalks and in the the 25% property tax hike for Sumter County.
    But that being said - we do love it here in The Villages.

    For those of you considering moving to The Villages, keep in mind that the older, more established villages are north. As you go south, the homes and villages are newer, and the surrounding infrastructure like shopping and restaurants isn't as developed yet. Jerry and Linda live near Lake Deaton and CR 44. My wife and I moved to the Villages two months ago, and bought a 19 year old home in the northern part near the Savannah Center. We are 7 minutes by golf cart from the hospital, 12 minutes to Spanish Springs town center, 18 minutes to Lake Sumter Landing town square. In less than 20 minutes, we can golf cart to more than 60 restaurants, at least 7 grocery stores including a WalMart Super Center, The Fresh Market, Winn-Dixie and Publix. The article is true, but what is within a reasonable distance for you is going to depend on where you locate. It may be called The Villages, but its a city of about 125,000 people spread over about 33 square miles. AND its projected to nearly double in size by 2030! You need to figure out what is most important to you, and then look for a home in an area that gives you access to most of the things on your list.

    Love the video. While visiting The Villages, I enjoy riding in the golf cart, but if the weather is stormy or I would be out after sunset, I would drive a car. With The Villages being so large now, and getting larger, I wonder how many Villagers use their carts if they have regular trips of over 10 miles within The Villages?

    In Michigan we put an 's' at the end of things, so "The Walmart" in Indiana is "Walmarts" in Michigan. "I'm going to Walmart's. Need anything?" LOVE the geographical references! (BTW, that's true of Meijer and Kroger, too. Neither have an s at the end...except in Michigan. We put it there.)

    • @g-bgcg
      @g-bgcg 4 роки тому

      Andrea Daines I was born and raised in Michigan but moved out of state. I never heard it called Walmart(s). Maybe a specific area thing? I do remember my mother calling Meijer(s) pronouncing the J and adding a “s” to it. Back then, it was MeiJers acres. Although my mom has gone to be with the Lord years ago, we still refer to it using her pronunciation, as it’s just funny. We were just in Michigan this past weekend for a memorial for my brothers passing. I sure do miss Michigan. Kroger is Dillions where we live now and it’s written in script. My kids thought it said “Pillows” so we call it that instead Dillions. Good memories.

    Golf carts are ok. If they keep on the cart path. Having golf carts "labeled" street legal, was the worst thing this community did. Notice in the regular paper they rarely state golf cart accidents. If you ever get seriously ill, dont trust any doctors in the villages, go to shands which is a real hospital.

      We have lived here 6 years and I invariably use my SUV. My wife the golfer uses the golf cart a lot, but still puts on about 7,000 miles a year on her Mercedes. If you drive a car, this place is even more convenient. I live midway between Brownwood and Lake Sumter Landing, and we are just surrounded by possibilities for Churches, or paint stores, or groceries, hardware stores, gyms, or almost anything else one might desire. Don't limit yourself to a golf cart.

    • @JERRYANDLINDA
      @JERRYANDLINDA  4 роки тому +1

      You can have them and many people do. The big birds (cranes, etc) can be very destructive. You wouldn't believe what they can do to your yard, lanai screens, etc. That's why some advise against it. The bird life is fantastic though.

Most of their food is imported and usually not inspected at the border... I will only buy my meat at Whole Foods because they are very careful about it.... Tand almost all of it is grown and produced in America... There is something called prions in tainted meat that can literally eat your brain....

    Why do you always use your golf cart and not your car,

      Maureen, we don't. We use our car all the time. Maureen, we don't. We use our car all the time, but... In a golf cart you can see better, you can hear better, and it's lots more fun. Who wouldn't want to ride around in a golf cart?

    When you say doctor offices are you referring to being seen by an MD or DO or a PA? $700 a year for a fitness center membership! What about a YMCA? We prefer The Publix.

      MD. The YMCA is in Tavares... about 22 miles.

      One can go to local Villages gyms for $5 a visit. There are 24 hour gyms about for less on Hwy 301 or 44 or 441/27. My wife and I have a combined membership for $400 total a year at a really great gym on 441. Yes, we use a car to get there.

      Only Sam's Club... on 441, not accessible by golfcart (at least I don't know how) it is next to Home Depot near the Spanish Springs area.
