I work for an airline and yes when you book other than with airlines for most airlines we have to collect a fee to collect a fee to take control over the tickets. And there are so many rules we have to follow. I have and use Amex but I always transfer to the airline and book directly. I’d say if you use a travel portal be 100 percent sure you have the dates and won’t make changes and always contact your booking source first. Or if you find a great deal you can’t pass up just be understanding that nothing is guaranteed with travel and please be nice to the reservations agents we just have to follow rules to keep our jobs 😆
On a flight I had booked through the C1 Portal, British Air changed my flights and me leaving the airport before the connecting flight arrived! The C1 rep calmly and professionally rebooked me at no charge. Only one data point, but I was quite impressed!
You can also use C1 miles to “erase” any travel purchases inside or outside the portal at 1 cent per mile. So the 10k anniversary points are a legit $100 minimum value.
My issue with the portal is the communication between the portal and the airline wouldn’t be in sync. So like after booking a flight, the flight times would constantly change and I would get emails from Chase, but it wasn’t reflected on the American Airlines sight unless I reconnected the flight confirmation number.
These were some of the most popular cards and damn near every credit card UA-camr has one or all of these in the video. How you gonna have 20 cards and not one? 😂
Let me tell you... recently booked a hotel out of the country. Specifically the jungle upon arriving was told they didn't have me checked in when I called capital one about it they said oh they didn't send the right conformation number. I went back and was told the same thing. Keep I'm mind this was on a sketchy road with fenced gates on right side and jungle on the left. Being night when I arrived I decided my safety was more important than a few hundred dollars more for another place to stay. Will never use the travel portal with capital one except the $300 travel credit I get every year.
That being said I have definitely enjoyed the Venture X! I've been to the DFW Cap. 1 lounge 3 times in the past month and Denver once. They go above and beyond and great food/drinks. It also has given me great experiences with platinum status with enterprise when I rent. This past trip I saved a few hundred because of the travel insurances the VX gives. Love the card but not the portal. My strategy was switched with yours I got the VX earlier on in the year and now just got the BBP.
@@DidIDoThaat wooow 3 times in the past month?! 😱im jealous. no doubt it sounds like the positives outweigh the negatives which is a great sign. lol well the BBP is a great card as well!
I recently used the Venture X to book a flight, and a week or so later, the automatic price drop protection kicked in. I got a $50 credit without having to do anything, so that was cool. Still, I probably won't use the portal outside of the annual credit.
@@qcman2000 As far as I can tell, price drop protection (and price match guarantee) credits don't expire. I'll probably save it to use next year along with the next $300 travel credit.
Hi Chase! Came back from 🇯🇵 a few days ago and something must’ve changed with CSP and Suica. I’ve been able to load Suica with CSP with no issues during my whole trip.
It IS annoying booking through a travel portal but on Chase, you get x5 if you do. But I HAVE indeed had some tough moments but… they worked out. However, it was tough to sort it all out.
Just recently added the Venture X as well! Planning to add the Amex Plat soon as well with lounge access in SEA & being able to utilize a lot of the credits. Would love to pick up one of the high-end Marriott Cards at some point as well, either the Bonvoy Brilliant or Ritz Card! Great video Chase!
Thank you! It's that the CSP treats all Apple digital purchase (apple music, apps, subscriptions) as streaming service purchases. So if you have any of those, then you might want to use your CSP to pay for those purchases.
Thank you for the video! Didnt know about the chase sapphire preffered not working for the passmo and suica card. Im going to japan this year, so luckily I have the savor one as well since it has no foreign transaction fee!
Thank you for the video. Yes recently picked up the venture x and the savor one. The venture x is now my Card I use at Costco. The gold car is still one of my favorites. Have you ever tried to get the wyndham business earners card
Nice Capital One cards 👏🏽 look at us twinning at Costco! No I have not tried applying for that card yet. It used to be on my immediate roadmap but I have postponed it.

Japan do not like VISA cards. I don't know why, but a lot (not all) of their services that accept credit cards do not accept VISA. If memory serves me correctly, you can't get a train ticket with a VISA.
@@soapa4279 Correct. Just to be clear, I'm not saying that you can't use a Visa in Japan at all. But they accept MC moreso than Visa. For example, if you have a VISA debit card from any bank, you have to use the ATM from a 7-eleven to take money out. Luckily, there are 7-elevens all over the place so that's not a problem. On a side not, I heard that they're not fond of American Express cards as well...not sure if that's true or not. So, I'll suggest to do research on those cards.

This was the first time I have zero of your cards. With 10 business and 10 personal cards, I usually have overlap with most youtubers.

How do you even pay all those annual fees?! And is it even worth having 20 cards?!
