Thank you, I was looking for this information. Not able to understand after referring multiple references, but in this 8 mins video understood so much information.
Amazing work Jeremy. BTW this is my first comment on UA-cam ;) How would you compare Microsoft DLP to conventional popular legacy products out there in the market like McAfee, Forcepoint, Symantec which used to operate on-premise and had modules like DLP Discover , DLP Prevent , DLP Monitor , DLP Endpoint and Device Control ..
Absolutely brilliant, you explain really well for a newbie like me. I would appreciate if you create a playlist on videos to go through in sequence for data protection and governance (MIP/DLP/MDM/MAM). How does right management works on M365, is it ON by default?
Yes. This article lists the other extensions and even compressed formats like zip, cab, rar docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/security-and-compliance/mail-flow-rules/inspect-message-attachments
Yes, if your DLP policy scope requires all files to be labeled, then you can do this. And there is auto-labeling or full site/team scoped auto-labeling, so the sensitivity labels can be assigned without prompting the user.

One of the biggest differences is that this is built in and should be less resource intensive than others that use separate agents.
Any guidance on when to use multiple dlp policies per location or can you group the locations into a single policy?
