They beheaded his wife and threw his daughter into a vat of acid. What they did to his family was beyond brutal. He wanted to make sure the boss felt every second of horror he experienced. Every pain, every second of horror. Does it make what he did ok? No, but you can certainly understand the anger behind it. Also can we talk about how good the actor playing the cartel boss is??? The look of horror and pain on his face after his family is killed is so good. You can feel it.

Best thing about this scene is the guy looked so tough cause he thought it was only him will die. He wanted for his sons remembered that he met his death without fear. Sicario killed his family right in front of him, then gave him a moment to realize what happened. Suddenly it became personal.
What’s brilliant about this scene and Benecio’s character is that even though his actions like killing the wife and children are shocking and disturbing, they’re also completely understandable if you were following along and know what horrible injustice was done to him and his family. It’s interesting. Like I’ve seen some people be surprised at this scene, but I don’t think ever I’ve seen anyone who hated Benecio’s character or was disgusted by what he did.

After the first shot, you can hear the boss choking on his own blood. He waits to make him suffer even more before doing the kill shot based on his skill and accuracy of the first 3 shots he very easily could have killed him in one shot kinda a nice brutal touch.
What always stayed with me the most about this scene is after killing the family you can see the look on the father change to almost understanding for his pain. 9/10 film its amazing
I watched this movie on a whim, it's what started my appreciation for Denis Villeneuve films. When I heard he got Dune I knew we were going to get some amazing movies!
