Another thing: Shane tried to say that the podcast clip was taken out of context, however if you listen to the full clip, there is absolutely zero indication that he’s joking. Also, he once unironically called a 6 year old sexy on the same podcast.
@@PeruvianPotato stop spreading false information, especially when you literally admit you couldn’t bother to check the rumor you heard before spreading it
@@hyjinx1889 First of all, my source was from a documentary by a channel called Joon the King about Shane Dawson's career. Second of all, said documentary stated that clip was noted by a edited video with cut outs and edited in music. Unless I got the wrong controversy, please tell me what I missed
@@PeruvianPotato I watched that video too, and he does not show evidence of such. Joon the King was obviously biased towards Shane Dawson throughout the entire video, complaining about Shane getting cancelled for racist comments he already apologized for and completely downplaying how severe it was, not to mention the other horrible stuff he’s done that was downplayed as well. I also just rewatched the reuploaded D’Angelo Wallace’s video on shane dawson, where he plays the clip in it’s entirety, and at no point does he say that he is joking. Nice try though.
2:23 that clip of him saying he came all over the cat does not sound like a joke at all, but more of a confession. I could be getting it wrong, but I know it sounded way too genuine.
@YeaMan You've been spelling the word page wrong for like a year now. Do you have a functioning brain? (and nobody tell me this is a bot this guy actually posts these comments manually trust me lol)
@Burrito Supreme I’ll never understand how someone could be stupid enough to try to excuse Shane’s child abuse with “you guys are way too soft” like all that does is make you look like a disgusting freak
Lessons to take from Shane Dawson: 1. Don't splooge on your cat 2. Don't splooge on your cat 3. Do *not* splooge on your cat 4. Cease and desist from spelunking on your feline 5. Don't be Shane Dawson 6. If you're Shane Dawson, don't be
I've literally done this every day for the past 24 years! I was never once Shane Dawson, I'm not a successful UA-camr but I'm just gonna trust the method and keep at it 🙌
You missed the biggest piece of this puzzle. What really helped catapult his manhunt and “cancellation” was the fact that he got involved with James and Jeffrey. And he went on a Instagram story rant about James (after he responded to Tati and Jeffrey after the “Bye Sister” scandal and came with receipts, leading to the public forgiving him at that time) and said that James needed a “slice of humble pie the size of the Eiffel Tower.” That’s when people really started to dig into his history.
yeah that Jeffrey, James and Tati was the beginning of the end, saying that shit about James needing the humble pie when James (I don’t like him) expressed how he almost committed suicide because of the hate.
Which is ridiculous because both Charles and Jeffery are predators who prey on children. Yet people only went after Shane once he pointed that fact out (at least about James, hes still quite about Jeffrey). Like don't get me wrong Shane needed to be gone after, but the fact people only started to care when their "uwu gnc gay baby" was being rightfully called out is just stupid.
That's just the internet. People still attack Callmecarson for his controversy yet somehow EDP445 and James Charles are off the hook? I wonder how that even happens.
Shane saying “I don’t ever want you to feel like I’m forcing you to forgive me” is ironic given that in every single recent video of his since he’s returned he’s joking and complaining about being cancelled, sympathy baiting about how negatively it effected him, and how he wants people to move on even though he can’t seem to move past it himself. Also, huge shoutout for featuring Nick DiRamio in this video. He opened my eyes to how TRULY lazy, low effort, and boring Shane’s videos are and how they’ve always been this way
Dude this shit drives me nuts what do you expect him to do have like a whole PowerPoint presentation? It’s UA-cam people get paid for just showing their cats on screen why are you acting like this is the first time someone’s made a lazy video
@@kateapple1 PowerPoint presentation-what??? If you watch Nick’s videos on Shane, you’ll know the problems are much more than just “showing his cat.” But go off, ig.
I mean he was a shock UA-camr. And it wasn’t out of the realm of other disgusting jokes he’s made. Not saying it actually was a joke, but I don’t find it beyond the realm of possibility.
No it wasnt. I dont think people get that that didnt grew up watching him. Theres other terrible stuff he said and I laughed at all of it when I was in my early teens. Why do you think he got so insanely popular People laughed at all the ridiculous shit he put out there.
That’s what I don’t get. Even as a joke, sexual activity with animals would never be a punchline that I can come up with. Why was THAT the first thing he thought of?
If you think telling a "fake" story about doing that with a cat would make for a funny moment, then you've got some seriously twisted things going on in your mind, imo.
Ironic, Shane Dawson spent the last few years of his career resurrecting the careers of people who didn't deserve a second chance, and in the end couldn't resurrect his own career....But no seriously, this is karma for helping keep Tana Mongoose relevant and "fixing" her reputation.
I stumbled upon his videos since he was nobody. It was around Jenna Marbles was still new too. His old contents mostly was like what it was shown here. Same with Jenna, some of his contents weren't that mature, insulting people as joke, 'funny' sexual jokes and such. Then for a long time, I never heard from them both probably because UA-cam algorithm. Then I was kinda surprised that they become so famous and their old videos vanished. The difference is Jenna did apologise sincerely because of her teenage immaturity and just stopped making UA-cam.
The problem I have w/ Shane currently is that he says he’s “too sensitive” for what was happening and pulled a victim card yet the things he said and done does not imply sensitivity. His actions don’t line up w/ his words.
I feel like most fans do know what they want. They want the "old" Shane back, someone who's moved on, not someone who's mind is still on one and a half year old drama. Even if he came back like he used to be, the "culture" of UA-cam has shifted a lot (it's much less tolerable to offensive jokes and such), and neglecting your channel for over 18 months doesn't help either.
Oooor, fans just don't want a cringe, lazy (and possibly mentally deranged) youtuber to follow? That's today standards at least. What mesmerises me is how did he got so popular in the past? Were the die hard old times fans really that much into this guy? Nothing seems special about him except being annoying. So yeah, the old fan base scares me, the ones who made him famous over mediocre creations
When he was on hiatus, he could have used the money that he clearly has on creative writing classes, visual story telling lessons, video editing, comedy classes, etc. He could have come back with good content and most people who have been exhausted over him as a topic wouldn't have been so harsh, wouldn't have been as upset because he would have shown that he was trying to better himself, that he had actually grown and learned something. But no, in the very first vid back he says, "I didn't learn anything," and boy is that true.
You basically described what Logan Paul did in his comeback. I don’t watch him but I see him all the time in shorts now and he seemed to have done a 180 from his old content
It doesn’t help that he lost Andrew. As well as Drew and Garret who all had a huge impact on his videos for such a long time. Shane and Ryland just aren’t interesting enough on their own. Their friend group was truly what made those old Shane videos so enjoyable.
@@jlouiseknust i haven’t completely kept up either. As far as I’m aware they just kind of… quietly stepped back and pursued their own projects. I don’t think there was any public drama

I don’t believe in canceling people over something they tweeted once or twice 6 years ago, but when it was, or rather is, a constant pattern in behavior, it gets to a point where it’s clearly just who they are.
100%. I listened to his podcast within hours of its release, all 200ish episodes. I thought they were funny but they did have odd moments where the co host tried to push through but shane didnt. Lots weird. It wasnt just one thing, like you said, its a pattern
Preforming sexual acts with your cat I think is a good enough reason to be permanently canceled. If anything he should be locked up in a nut house where he won’t be danger to other people, or cats
@@Lawrence_Talbotwas there ACTUAL sexual acts with his cat? I mean actual evidence video? Or just crude jokes that people usually find funny? He's always used humor to lessen what he says and it's disgusting. I even knew watching when it was younger and didn't know why I didn't stop watching him prior
I hate the implication that SD's mediocre return was predominantly due to form, and not the weird and gross things he did that got him cancelled in the first place. I feel like the, "don't make a big deal, just keep streaming and produce good content" argument work well for Carson, where I don't think what he did was that bad; and of very recent history the same with Mizkif and Maya. SD is the wrong person to apply the argument to.
@@lazyhazy7 that's the problem we don't know if he's joking or not atleast I don't know Either way never watched his content to begin with so I don't know him well
Just a small point, I think a lot of the reason why his “taking accountability” video was so badly received was because Jenna Marbles had just released her own taking accountability video just prior. Hers was seen as honest & as an effort to truly take accountability and his seemed as if it was copying hers in an effort to get the same sort of emotional response. There were A LOT of comparisons between the two videos at the time, and accusations of him trying to essentially gain the sort of sympathy that Jenna’s video had generated.
That's exactly it! Jenna's video was clearly sincere and heartfelt, and then not even three days later Shane went "WeLL, I cAn MaKe OnE tOo" Like, he was clearly doing it for internet brownie points; he just had the most hilariously bad timing imaginable (e.g. the Willow Smith incident resurfacing, the Tati Westbrook video, etc.)
It also doesn't help that Jenna actually committed to stepping away from youtube, which was touchy for a lot of people because they believed her mistakes (while they did need to be addressed) didn't warrant her losing her platform. Shane on the other hand, who is clearly not sorry for all of his offensive and predatory content, really thought he could "cancel me, I deserve it :(" his way out of the controversy, but wasn't prepared for people to respond accordingly. Even when he did remove himself from UA-cam, he didn't respect his hiatus by making appearances in Ryland's videos. I still watch Julien's content, and while he talks about Jenna in passing here and there, she never personally shows up in his content.

You can tell a lot about a person from the company they keep, and I think the fact he's kept Jeffree around speaks volumes within itself. He hasn't grown, he hasn't learned from his mistakes, and both of them probably have the same narrowminded, "holier than thou" mindset that they've always had. Shane absolutely did not mean that confession as a joke. He has the nervous energy, self justification, uneasy guilt and generally hesitant yet overly open atmosphere of someone snitching on themselves.
Yeah but a person who doesn't fuck animals isn't going to out and say they harmed an animal. The type of person that would though, is the person who HAS or has thought about it. Which hello biggest red flag indicator. Stop supporting predators, this is how pedos go under the radar.
The nervous laughter you could just hear that he was begging for them to join in but realized they were not validating his behavior as quirky and funny.
I find it odd that you would rather believe someone nonchalantly talked about sexually abusing their cat on a podcast for millions to hear than believe it was just a dumb kid whose entire personality was shock value humor taking a gross joke too far.
My stomach twisted and I felt SICK when Shane Dawson talked about abusing his cat. No one could have just thought that shit up for humor or shock value.
Are you being for real or is that a lame attempt at a joke, itself? Shock value humor has been around for a long time, and has seen jokes much much worse than that?
If I were there during that cat confession I would straight up walk out. That’s so nasty and the fact he’s trying to frame it as a silly anecdote is insane. What he did WAS illegal. It’s disgusting
I started watching D’Angello before all the controversy. He did good with videos, had a comfortable easy-going style to him :) knew he would be successful

He was a shitty person who succeeded in rebranding himself as the nicest, most sensitive person on UA-cam and with this, he attracted a bunch of people who didn't know his origin story. And then he got found out again, and this rebranding effort crumbled like a house of cards. He was selling his personality, and it turned out it was all fake. He just doesn't have mainstream appeal anymore, and he got to keep only his core audience, because the formerly casual viewers feel sick upon the sight of him
Honestly I don’t see why people ever liked him in the first place, he’s clearly insecure and instead of taking the steps to build up his ego in a healthy way, he sulks about the same things for years on end while calling himself an empath.
I can understand why younger people would've thought his earlier content was funny, but I don't understand why he's held on to an audience for so long.

when i was an insecure, bullied, mentally ill tween, i loved him because he seemed authentic compared to other celebs at the time and never shied away from talking about those issues. but at the same time i feel like because his fans connected with him so much, he was able to manipulate that parasocial relationship to a point where his fans felt obligated to comfort him and hype him up and defend him against people they perceived as bullying him because they were scared he would have a mental breakdown or harm himself. like when you combine the fact that some of his videos could actually be pretty entertaining and high effort with the 15 year long parasocial relationship he had with his fans, it honestly makes a lot of sense why people put up with him for so long
My friend highly recommended Shane Dawson when I was in the prime demographic of his early content. A young, edgy teen girl. I watched 2 videos. One was about the only joke being throwing cat poop nonstop. The second was blackface. I considered him a “bad UA-camr” after that and stuck to NigaHiga and Jenna Marbles.
For the people that say it’s in the past and we are too sensitive nowadays, his older videos from the early 2010s got his parents fired from their jobs.
it is in the past though, i'm not defending him but people who say that are right though, not only talking about shane, but people are digging so far in the history of some people just to cancel them, past is past, there is no way to go back in time and change it, and somehow people are dumb enough not to know that people can change, they could find a 30 year old video of eminem saying the n'word or something and cancel him for that
@@dxst5911 Personally, I think that cancel culture has done more good than bad. The problem is that celebrities are working their butts off and spending huge amounts of time and money to turn people against 'cancelling', which is why people are always saying "OMG!! 4 million is still way more than he deserves. If only UA-cam could take some of the viewership from creeps like Shane and redistribute them to smaller UA-camrs. Considering how difficult it is to break through the algorithm at this point, it would be very appreciated.
Like there is a way to make the story “funny” (well as funny as something like that can be). He can easily told the story as “when I come my cat came out and I accidentally cum on it” and then showing him freaking out and feeling bad about it.
If I were him I’d just retire and get out of the spotlight. Millions of dollars and lots of time to focus on family and hobbies. But that’s not what fuels him and I think it’s the same thing that fuels a lot of UA-camrs - fame and notoriety. They all seek validation and external support and that’s what so many of them crave, so I don’t think he’d ever stop creating content of some kind.
I think if he was smart he would focus on making documentaries but not that feature him, he could still make videos but take himself out of focus because nobody thinks he is genuine or caring anymore....
All he has to do is retire from UA-cam, leave his videos up so he can collect ad revenue, purchase a few properties to rent out for a stable income stream, and hire someone else to manage his rentals/tenants. He could literally just retire early, mind his business, and spend time with his family/friends etc, but he insists on being in the spotlight due to egotism/etc. Like, I hate him, and I think he deserves to have to become a normal member of society + work for a living like the average person, but he isn't even at that point yet! He could just cut his losses and DIP with enough money/resources to maintain his lifestyle, just without filming himself or getting so much attention, but he won't, and that's just going to make things worse for him 🙄
I think he’s a narcissist or sociopath. It’s been his “personality” and he has nothing else to become. It seems it was his friends that were funny. We saw the mask slip on that live when Tati mentions sexual assault and his words “I’M the one who was molested” like she took something that he earned and the well,no actual story, it was suggested by Katie after a quiz. Number 1, there is no quiz to test if you were molested, but if you saw how he jumped at the very mention on empathy to self diagnose himself an empath (another personality he took on as both the molest (which in his book he said he was never molested. It’s like I think a kink to him. The kids sex jokes, the puppet, the cousin). He decided because he didn’t like his face getting wet then it MUST be because he has a sweaty man on him. And the 3rd in his collection “suicide”. As someone who has attempted, who thinks about it daily, there is nothing to joke about. I get thru everything with humour but also having a close family member that did and succeeded, it’s not funny. These are also things he can manipulate his audience with to buy crap or get out of trouble. A lot of trouble others have lost their channel for.
It blows my mind that he said that was such confidence. And then all of a sudden, realizes he’s been exposed, and denies everything. What’s up with popular UA-camrs being complete freaks, pedophiles, or just creepy as hell?
I was just thinking about that. So many people that fat famous turn out to have some serious bones in their closet. I wonder how all these terrible people are becoming famous.
Honestly, I used to think money didn't corrupt as much as we like to say it does, but it's happening so much that it can't be a coincidence. Money, fame, and power really do make people play out those evil thoughts that some people have but then ignore because of morals or just knowing they could get caught. Meanwhile, the rich and famous are surrounded by people who say "do whatever you want" and "follow your heart" and they know they can just buy their way out of getting in trouble for it. The amount of celebrities who are openly or at least hint at being terrible people (jerks, rapists, bullies, abusers) is getting so long that I've stopped supporting Hollywood entirely.
I don't think all of them are actually pedophiles, just using their platform and fame to manipulate people who are young, dumb and not developed enough to realize what's going on and so they take advantage of that
I don't know why people even support him anymore. As children we're taught just because someone is nice doesn't mean they're a good person. Sad that's been forgotten for influences. Edit: imagine getting so upset that you go out your way to condone and excuse him. Cause that's what's in this thread 🙄
Imo he is still funny and for the cat thing it just seems like a really trash joke. I feel like most of it was just trash jokes as well. People will dig everything and find anything they can get offended about even if it was years ago and was clearly said in a jokeful manner.
I’m guessing some just care about content rather than who’s producing it. Like on a post about the fairlife milk farms abusing cows but half the comments are stuff like, “still good though” “that shit slaps” “who cares”.
@@0subsWith0vidsChallenge Maybe it's just me, but there isn't really anything funny about doing blackface and parading around a racist caricature to mock black women.

This is a problem with this channels "never apologize for being controversial" take. It ignores when people have gone too far. It also defends putting in absolutely zero effort (like when that one chick was so racist that she called people a n-word lover, and didn't even bother to write her own apology) saying people should just forgive. It's simple, if you want people to believe that you've changed, then be proactive in pointing it out, don't wait until people open the closet and find all the skeletons themselves. Liam Neeson did that, and sure some people were initially mad but nobody has a problem with him nowadays.
Tbf it's still very steep downhill since he usually got 15-50 million views per video, even tho he still gains a lot of money despite those "low" numbers, and now in every his new videos he alwasy lost views from 500k to 1 million, it's just about time when his channel completely dries up.
I mean surely if the audience currently consists of "mostly kids" then the cliche growing up phase will disconnect them from his channel as they move on and lose interest over time, that would eventually just leave shane with nothing. How many youtubers that you watched as a kid are you still watching to this day? case and point.
I personally have never liked Shane Dawson. He looks like the type to act like he’s a nice and generous person, but when the cameras are off, he acts the complete opposite. He just has a deceptive aura.
The OBSERVE channel did a full analysis of Shane's apology video and pointed out something really interesting - the number of cuts in the video. As I watched the full version uploaded by Shane, I noticed just how insincere the apology actually felt
As someone who grew up watching his conspiracy theories, as a kid I always questioned if these were theory’s or a loop hole for manipulating his audience, looking back it makes a lot more sense, his extremely manipulative over his audience and fortunately his ‘sad sappy’ innocence persona is no longer serving him any favours, it still angers me he has a huge audience that blindly support him
If you lived through OG youtube you’ll kind of get it, shock/offensive content were doing really well back then, the social media culture has just changed and those who can’t adapt will fall. Tbh I think shane adapted quite well before his past caught up with him
@@joesr31 i am the most OG youtube user there is. His content seemed fake and lame. And I got pedo vibes later on. I knew there was an audience for him but it genuinely shocked me how big. Glad he's done.
I remember being really young and being weirded out by his content, but under the misguided 7 year old assumption that he was “just joking” I didn’t really think too hard about it at the time. Now as an adult I analyze EVERYTHING, it’s so clear to me how insufferably racist and predatory he was, but at 7, I didn’t even know 1/4 of the words adults used, I didn’t understand the nuances of racism or that I had ever experienced it myself. It’s that childlike innocence and ignorance coupled with the bright colors, costumes, and videos that were made specifically to look appealing to younger audiences. At a certain point he DID attempt to cover up his past and change his image, which I think kept a lot of his fans supporting him because as they grew up, his content was less and less obviously horrific. I’d say he got popular from a mix of luck, attention seeking, drawing in viewers with shock value, and specifically having a target demographic of young kids
I never watched Shane Dawson, but listening to him here I’m genuinely wondering. How were tens of millions people okay with listening to this man for _40+_ minutes on end? I know this is him at his worst, but I struggled even to watch those short clips. Was he really that good back in his heyday?
he really was that good back in his hayday 😭 those videos of him doing blackface & harrassing children were from the early 2010s, so myself & many other previous fans were completely unaware of this behaviour until 2020. i knew of the cat incident as well, but never heard the audio until today. back in like 2016-2018, he made really captivating videos of different conspiracy theories, & (biased) documentaries about other online stars / influencers.

I still don’t get how people think returning after receiving hate on a massive scale is a good idea. They act like everyone will forgive them as time goes on. Unbelievable.
It’s because of the “all attention is good attention” mindset. Nikita Dragun, Tana Mongoue, Jeffrey Star, James Charles, and the Kar-Jenners are a great example of this because their careers thrive off of drama and controversy. Some one like Taylor Swift could never get away with this, but the people I mentioned do because they’ve set themselves up to be portrayed this way. That’s why no matter how much drama these people get into their fans will always support them because they like the drama and controversy as well.
I second this! I did not ever like shane dawson. Felt very uncomfortable watching his videos for reasons I cannot explain now and felt his jokes were gross, and over the top. I would even watch pewdiepie and jack with their humour back in that day but I would have a problem with Shane if that tells you anything.
I was so shocked when people were fawning over Shane like he was a Good Soft Boi. All I knew of him was really shitty humour, blackface and those fucking ugly bangs. I think it's ironic that years ago when I bought It Gets Worse, my cat climbed on my shelf and had diarrhea all over it before i could finish reading it lmao
I remember a clip of him with that same 12 year old where he mentioned she may become pregnant after using the bathroom after Shane left some “cream cheese” on the toilet seat. That was the last time I ever watched one of his videos ever.
I'm shocked it took people so long to realize Shane was an actual predator before. He gave off weird vibes like "Onion Boy" Onision in his older videos. As a kid, I had a weird feeling about both of them.
Ive never liked Shane; my first encounters with him were back when he was doing blackface and i never trusted him since. Im glad younger people are finally accepting how abhorrent he is.
I think a lot of it has to do with his “I was young and stupid” not flying anymore. His young audience is now the age he was when those videos were made. And they know how terrible they (the videos) are and see him not doing anything to actually atone for it.
Everyone knows Dane Shawson was his peak. We all know why he got the pass and why everyone was handling him with kid gloves before the most recent controversy.
@@flixs1353 perhaps atone isn’t the right word. But he apologized but doesn’t do anything. The videos he apologized for were still up on his channel (not sure if they still are) and it was very recently he was selling merch of stereotypical characters.
His entire gimmick is ironic. His whole draw was the controversial, edgy, bad taste videos, then society changed and called him out for it. Now he doesn't know how to move forward. He's got a lot of issues to work through.
Society hasn't really changed that much. The vast majority of normal people still enjoy edgy humor. Woke Twitter mobs and crying UA-camrs form a vocal minority.

He was always toxic and always a terrible person but none of my friends would listen. 🤷🏻♂ Even if by some miracle he actually was joking, they are things you don't joke about and things that should just not be said. Instead of fearing and doing a hasty apology just to cover your butt and keep going on, just don't say the stuff the begin with.
The thing with Shane is, he's messed up either way. Even if it was just for shock value. If u think that being predetory, being racist or beastiality is funny, than u have mad issues. He just keeps thinking he can cime back. How much must one mess up to finally Exit and leave olthe ppl alone. Like dang
I'm a firm believer that anything can be funny in the right context. If someone wants to make a joke about darker, more taboo subject matter, then they should be free to do so and I don't think it inherently means someone has issues or is a bad person. That said, a joke based on darker subjects has to not only actually be funny and told at the right moment, because it will be seen as distasteful otherwise, but it also needs to be clear that it's just a joke. Many of Shane's "jokes" about pedophilia, bestiality, and racism wouldn't have been viewed so negatively if there weren't so many videos/voice clips of him engaging in predatory/questionable behavior while he isn't playing a character. Based on many clips that I had seen, he also often made no real indication that he was joking about any of the things he said for "shock value", as he claims. So they don't come off as "ah, Shane's just bein' silly and dumb LOL" and more like "this dude has no filter and is now telling me these incredibly weird and gross things he has done". It makes it seem less like absurd humor and more like a bungled confession. That's my take on it, at least. I was never a regular viewer of Shane Dawson's content, so I have to look at this sorta' from an outsider's perspective.
@@kingstarscream3807 spite? It's just a fact. Being racist and a pedo amd alegendly abusing animals is not ok. It's not just ppl hating. It's actually disgusting stuff
These breakdowns are so good Sunny. You go into so much detail about things I wouldn’t even think about. (Shane’s body language, him joking about his lack of commitment, etc.) The internet was a definitely a different place 10 years ago but some of his jokes/ actions were STILL a lil out of pocket. I don’t think his mistakes should be held over his head for the rest of his career though. Hopefully he can move on, get back on his grind, and maybe learn to ignore the negativity when it resurfaces. I wanna see him back on top over the next couple years.
It'd be nice if there were a full video talking about how to not get cancelled, even though the bulk of it would be to not react to the dumb teenagers who are having a meltdown over nothing. It seems Jake Paul is the only person I can think of who doesn't address any controversies and they seem to go away nearly instantly.
I mean…. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in life, but I’ve never accidentally done blackface. Kinda seems like he was purposefully profiting off nonstop racism. But that’s just my opinion.
I also remember that clip of him being told about a little baby being raped to death and he was so excited by it 🤮 absolutely revolting person. He shouldn't be near children ever.
He's just overall a bad person, it was his own downfall and no one else's Nutting on his cat, willow Smith, his predatory behavior to children\teens, blackface, racist remarks, clickbait, and he was a constant asshole to his friends that still stayed by his side. Not to mention the constant lies, fake ass apologies, horrible acting, no accountability, being a complete narcissist, and regularly using others for his success. His friends were the only ones making his content interesting, and thanks to being such an asshole to them, they disappeared. I have an extreme sadistic pleasure for watching him get harassed, the low views, and being forced to finally face his wrongs, I love watching him fall lower with each video and tweet
Before even watching the video let me guess - He "failed" cause he's an actual creep that never genuinely apologized or took accountability for the disgusting stuff he put out. I don't care if it was for shock value, if kids are involved and talked about in this way, it's fucking inappropriate.
I’m not going to give Shane Dawson the cancel culture treatment here. The stuff he did with his 9 year old cousin (like having her give him a lap dance) is gross. And the baby thing he said on podcast. Whatever is wrong with him is deeper than “just being offensive in the past” and I can’t support it.
It's so weird to me that youtubers can get away with almost anything and brush it off as "drama", while they would most probably be imprisoned if they didn't have that kind of status.
I have to say I love your voice. A lot of UA-camrs try and sound dramatic when talking about this stuff and it gets annoying but you're very straight forward and it's calming to listen to
I remember shane dawson appearing on my home page of youtube on my tablet as a kid. I'm almost 17 now and I realize how disgusting he actually was watching this video. How did something like him get recommended to me and many other children? I learned too much from his videos. Sad.

Same! I didn't realize that the character (at 4:04) was a parody of black women. The last straw for me was a skit where the teacher character instructs a student in graphic detail how to slit your wrists (it was taken off by YT). That was before the black face and the really messed up pedo videos. The cat thing was clearly NOT a joke, and even if it was how sick must you be to make up something like that on the fly? He keeps painting himself (or make others do it) as this oh so sensitive and good person, when he's just one messed up individual.

Jenna's video was clearly sincere and heartfelt, and then not even three days later Shane went "WeLL, I cAn MaKe OnE tOo"
Like, he was clearly doing it for internet brownie points; he just had the most hilariously bad timing imaginable (e.g. the Willow Smith incident resurfacing, the Tati Westbrook video, etc.)
And also kinda being rude to the people around him, right? I don’t know for sure about now, but the way he treated his old assistant back in the day and made anti-Semitic jokes about her (iirc) made him seem like a bully, too.
when i was an insecure, bullied, mentally ill tween, i loved him because he seemed authentic compared to other celebs at the time and never shied away from talking about those issues. but at the same time i feel like because his fans connected with him so much, he was able to manipulate that parasocial relationship to a point where his fans felt obligated to comfort him and hype him up and defend him against people they perceived as bullying him because they were scared he would have a mental breakdown or harm himself. like when you combine the fact that some of his videos could actually be pretty entertaining and high effort with the 15 year long parasocial relationship he had with his fans, it honestly makes a lot of sense why people put up with him for so long
My friend highly recommended Shane Dawson when I was in the prime demographic of his early content.
Lmfao I remember that. Didn’t he get fired from his job from a video too? Like back in 2008 or something
he got fired from his job because he made a joke about Jenny Craig which was also the company he worked for, that's what got him fired
it is in the past though, i'm not defending him but people who say that are right though, not only talking about shane, but people are digging so far in the history of some people just to cancel them, past is past, there is no way to go back in time and change it, and somehow people are dumb enough not to know that people can change, they could find a 30 year old video of eminem saying the n'word or something and cancel him for that

Fame is a powerful drug
I think if he was smart he would focus on making documentaries but not that feature him, he could still make videos but take himself out of focus because nobody thinks he is genuine or caring anymore....
@@OALM if I was famous and known for being controversial, I wouldn't want to be famous lol.
Probably because they think they can get away with it since they're "too big to fail"
Because you never here about somebody not being a pedophile
I don't think all of them are actually pedophiles, just using their platform and fame to manipulate people who are young, dumb and not developed enough to realize what's going on and so they take advantage of that
He said the apology wasn’t made out of fear with his face clearly showing fear😂
I don't know why people even support him anymore.
As children we're taught just because someone is nice doesn't mean they're a good person. Sad that's been forgotten for influences.

His audience was children
I never watched Shane Dawson, but listening to him here I’m genuinely wondering.
How were tens of millions people okay with listening to this man for _40+_ minutes on end? I know this is him at his worst, but I struggled even to watch those short clips. Was he really that good back in his heyday?

It’s because of the “all attention is good attention” mindset. Nikita Dragun, Tana Mongoue, Jeffrey Star, James Charles, and the Kar-Jenners are a great example of this because their careers thrive off of drama and controversy. Some one like Taylor Swift could never get away with this, but the people I mentioned do because they’ve set themselves up to be portrayed this way. @@jbsully2864 I mean he's gotta make it into a joke to make it funny, saying a shocking joke and saying something shocking aren't the same
I hope he never quits just to spite people like you.
I don't know how many times I found myself up in the middle of the night, watching his conspiracy theory videos
These breakdowns are so good Sunny. You go into so much detail about things I wouldn’t even think about. (Shane’s body language, him joking about his lack of commitment, etc.)
The internet was a definitely a different place 10 years ago but some of his jokes/ actions were STILL a lil out of pocket. I don’t think his mistakes should be held over his head for the rest of his career though. Hopefully he can move on, get back on his grind, and maybe learn to ignore the negativity when it resurfaces. I wanna see him back on top over the next couple years.
Agreed
It'd be nice if there were a full video talking about how to not get cancelled, even though the bulk of it would be to not react to the dumb teenagers who are having a meltdown over nothing. It seems Jake Paul is the only person I can think of who doesn't address any controversies and they seem to go away nearly instantly.
No.
@@SeethingSimp We need a resurgence in edgy humor. We need more people who laugh when they're being cancelled.
I mean…. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in life, but I’ve never accidentally done blackface. Kinda seems like he was purposefully profiting off nonstop racism. But that’s just my opinion.
The fact that he was even joking about beastiality involving a poor cat worries me greatly.
I also remember that clip of him being told about a little baby being raped to death and he was so excited by it 🤮 absolutely revolting person. He shouldn't be near children ever.
Shut up it's just a cat... He didn't harm it... People nowadays are just too sensitive... Grow up!!
@@bevarena6269 you’re missing the point, clearly 🙄
@@AlphaOmegaKnight77658 hes right, ur too sensitive
@@cocklexp51 you guys should probably go watch Cocomelon or something. This stuff isn’t for children 🤡
this is the first time i’m hearing the audio of him admitting it, and it’s wild how fine he is talking ab it.
He's just overall a bad person, it was his own downfall and no one else's
Nutting on his cat, willow Smith, his predatory behavior to children\teens, blackface, racist remarks, clickbait, and he was a constant asshole to his friends that still stayed by his side.
Not to mention the constant lies, fake ass apologies, horrible acting, no accountability, being a complete narcissist, and regularly using others for his success.
His friends were the only ones making his content interesting, and thanks to being such an asshole to them, they disappeared.
I have an extreme sadistic pleasure for watching him get harassed, the low views, and being forced to finally face his wrongs, I love watching him fall lower with each video and tweet
garrett and andrew are the sweetest and they deserve all the success. Their videos are done so much better with humor and anticipation 💯💯
@@pyan9660 If they were so much better, they wouldn't associate with someone like him. That should tell you everything you need to know about them.
im sorry
he did WHAT to his CAT?!?!?
Thank you so much for making these videos, it’s a great, unbiased way for me to learn about UA-cam drama I didn’t care about/didn’t know.
@just i c e why are there so many of these posts?
Bro ur a cat? be careful for shane dawson
@@ngentitit OH GOD DAMNIT YOU’RE RIGHT I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE
@just i c e can you not
Your not the "cat" are you? I'm sorry if you are:(
Before even watching the video let me guess - He "failed" cause he's an actual creep that never genuinely apologized or took accountability for the disgusting stuff he put out. I don't care if it was for shock value, if kids are involved and talked about in this way, it's fucking inappropriate.
And the fact he claims that at the time it was funny. Anyone with a brain knows shock value does not equal comedy
Yeah I'm sure the judge and local police gave him a pass for being a UA-cam star /s
Sad.
Why
Or your parents for giving a young kid unfiltered access to the internet at such a young age
Imagine getting upset with someone for wearing a costume 💀
Who?
I honestly feel really grossed out to have ever watched Shane. Though I was young and dumb and never able to tell weird stuff or understand 'drama'. Somewhat related, I'd love to see a video covering iAmCyr, who is just....an absolute creep. Disgusting guy
Cyr and Onision both deserve a video tbh
Wtf rid Iamcyr do?? 😭😭
If you're such a good person and an "empath", you don't have to say it constantly!
We were all naive children
It will never be the same, but he's still doing very well
@VIRTU G. lol relax youve done tons of messed up stuff. Good lord.
@VIRTU G. That's a low-blow dude.
@VIRTU G. What do you mean?
@VIRTU G. Oh sorry i get it now.. I know i dont wear makeup and worry about the way i look as you do. Yeah i dont give a sheeeit lol. That stuff is just media jargon. But if wearing makeup is your thing man thats cool. Im happy for ya.
You said the exact same thing in a video about Ryan Higa. You don't even watch the damn videos and comment something generic to promote your own channel. Smh
does he not understand telling the cat story as if it were real was _so much worse_ than making it a skit 🤦🏼♀️
No, now in hindsight he allegedly realizes the skit would have been bad, and he already did the podcast. That's what he meant
That his unconscious thoughts of zoophilia or sexual abuse of animals.
I have a DARK sense of humor but his audio clips don’t sound like he’s joking, there’s a line you draw. 😬
So glad you put Nick DiRamio's clip in this video! He's a great content creator and I feel like he deserves even bigger audience! 😌💯🙌
Never heard of him but he's got a nice makeup, really loved the eyelashes
I don't think anyone with mental health issues should be on UA-cam
