As it as it is important to show body positivity. Overweight from genetics, fatshamed to exercise, or just want to get some biceps to flex on the beach it’s important to remember theirs no shortcuts to reach your goals but there will always be alternative. Like Arteice said at the beginning of the video that she uses Ring fit but I miss Wii Fit. Frankly, I’d rather keep walking then going to the gym, as much as if it’s either diabetes to be prescribed Ozempic or Lizzo

I remember at one point when my depression got really bad, I stopped eating as often. I was gaining a little weight at one point previously to my depression getting really bad, and had some people comment about it, but weight was never really something I cared about one way or the other, so my eating problem didn't stem from that. When I got depressed, though, I couldn't get myself out of bed to eat on most days. But during this time I also started to lose weight, and I constantly had people saying cheerfully "Oh my gosh, you lost weight! You look good!" when in fact I was not feeling good what so ever. As a matter of fact, this was probably me at my least healthy because I had no nutrition and I wasn't exercising. I was literally just rotting away in bed like a zombie. All I could think about whenever someone said that was all of the people who stopped eating because they actually did have problems with their weight and developed eating disorders, and the people around them possibly unknowingly giving them confirmation that starving themselves is a good thing when it isn't. If I had an actual eating disorder and I was constantly getting positive feedback from it, it more than likely would've set me further down a path of starving myself. Even without having an eating disorder and just being depressed, the comments about how "good" I looked from losing weight really pissed me off considering the circumstances. And I'm sure there are other people who are suffering from sicknesses, or going through chemotherapy, or other health things where they lose weight rapidly and it's not necessarily a good thing. For the love of God, if there's one thing to take away from this, please do not assume that if someone is losing weight (especially rapidly) that they are becoming healthier.
Also, do not assume that if someone is gaining weight, that they are becoming more unhealthy. I'm currently putting pounds back on because my mental health has been getting better and I've actually been eating meals and I've heard comments from people saying that I was doing "so well losing weight before". That's not a great thing to hear when it took me so long and so much effort to get myself out of bed and start eating regularly again. : /

I feel like people overexaggerate how important exercise is. Yes it is important but above all diet is the most important aspect of body weight. People need to eat the right amounts of food and that's it.

As long as it's healthy bigness, I LOVE plus-sized women.
But if we're talking bigness in the same tier as Honey Boo-Boo's mother, Precious or one of those people on My 600 Pound Life; THAT is where I feel concerned. That being said, I feel like society has developed a severe body-shaming mentality these days

American Dad was horrifying, but this is the first I see of the creepy effects in Braceface. Also, 15:40 Ice packs looking like that are on a little list I made of realistic things that you nevertheless only see in cartoons.

I work out every day to stay fit and healthy, but that wasn't the only reason I did it. Long story short, I have a poor relationship with my dad, as he has an anger problem and would often times resort to shouting or insults. Because he's overweight himself, my exercise routine was partly born out of a fear of turning out like him, both physically and personality wise. I had anger problems of my own, so I worked out at least an hour or two every day. Both to vent my frustration in a non-destructive way, and as a form of punishment for a part of me I detested. I'd refused to have dinner because I considered it excessive, I reduced the amount of sugar I consumed, I always made time to work out, or go outside for a walk, a hike, or a swim, and sometimes stayed up late and worked out in secret when I didn't have enough time during the day.
Not to mention, I grew up watching a lot of movies starring Arnold or Stallone, as well as Shonen anime where the protagonists trained to be the best version of themselves. Their strong and athletic physique inspired me, and I wanted to look like that as well. The good news is that after consulting with a therapist, I realized that my reasoning was partly born out of a fear of repeating the cycle of abuse, and went to such lengths that in the future could be more detrimental than good.
The ironic part is that while I'm fit and athletic, I personally find bigger women very attractive. The softness of their bodies, the look of their skin rolls, how there's more to grab and play with, the teddy-bear like appearance which adds to their cuteness, the increased breast and butt size, and how their whole body jiggles. I'd love to cuddle-up with one in bed.

Not gonna go into too much detail but I can relate. In a pretty similar situation but add alcoholism into the mix, me avoiding it like the plague, and possibly developing some problems in my left leg, hip and shoulder.

20:34 Loved the conclusion! I too had a hard journey, and I still keep going at it. In 2020, during the pandemic, during the Stay at home order, the gym I go to was closed but not for good. During that time, I took advantage of grubhub, Ubereats, doordash. all of that. By the some places were opened and I've got vaccinated, I weighted 301.52 pounds! Learning how unhealthy I was, my gym that was closed, Gold's Gym was opened and through the initiative from my family and myself, I slowly yet surly lost 50 pounds to this day, I am a glutton but I've managed to do something for myself! I hope you find this story inspirational to share!

Wow, I never expected the Health and Wellness in children's media discussion to turn into a trilogy lol. It's crazy how many other animation studios went for the more nuanced takes on teaching kids about food and health. Unlike Disney. I think the reason the mouse fumbled the bag so hard was because it was trying to take the "safe and predictable" route when it came to teaching kids how to be healthy. Hence why every time that they tried to tackle the topic of Health and Fitness, they didn't lean too heavily on talking about EDs or the problems with body positivity because they knew that those kinds of topics would go over their young audience's heads. With the exception of the one Suite Life of Zach and Cody episode, of course.

12:30 I know it's a self-deprecating joke and all, but even jokes can be believed if they're repeated often enough: It isn't e-begging if something is done for the money. You always deliver on your promises, so it's less of a handout.

As a skinny person myself, I struggle to gain weight, and my grandma thinks I'm healthy but... I sometimes feel my bones crack. My skin feels too thin even though I eat a lot, and I feel insecure about my body since people called me too skinny, alien, ugly and any other offensive thing. Mom thinks I'm lucky to have these genes, but I don't feel that way. Anyone else struggle to gain despite eating a lot of healthy fats or junky fats?

I dunno if you’ve seen recent pictures of Fourth Doctor Tom Baker but it’s a drastic change from his appearance in Day of the Doctor. He’s incredibly thin now but it doesn’t feel like a healthy thin. It almost feels gaunt. And for someone who’s 90+ feels more like he’s withering away. But that’s more vibes than fact and everyone else I’ve seen has reacted way more positively. I’d way prefer them to be right that there’s nothing actually wrong.
And at the same time we also know skinny isn’t always healthy. Bodies ravaged by cancer and other illnesses. We saw it with Chadwick Boseman

Yeah, I really hate the stigma that being fat has and being attracted to fat people has. People will really be backhanded and act like you’re unhealthy for the former even if you’re not obese, and they’ll shame you/look down up you for the latter acting like it’s one of the worst things you could be into

Tricks to get fit and stay healthy are simple, and the "easier said than done" part is only true for the first 2 to 3 weeks.
    1. Genetics play a huge role, everyone has different body types and burn fat or gain muscle at a different pace. So never compare yourself to others, just stick to your guns and you'll get there.
    2. Most women burn fat slower than men, so just like I said with the genetics. Never compare yourself to others, do it for you and try to stay positive minded as much as you can.
    3. Don't go into it with any goals or expectations, you'll only be setting yourself up for failure.
    4. Yes, it is easier said than done. But the more you do it, the easier it gets I promise you! The first 2 to 3 weeks will be brutal, but after that you'll get better at it and start to feel healthier.
    5. Try to form good habits like getting up and going to bed early if you can, drink only water or as much as you can.
    6. It's always gonna be hard at first, so don't be too harsh on yourself. You're gonna fall off once in a while, just dust yourself off and try again.
    7. Go to the gym, but not just any gym. Places like Fit 4 Less, and Goodlife Fitness tend to attract people who are already fit and just go there to show off. I myself go to a private gym and pay for a personal trainer. It costs more, but it's worth the privacy and having someone to show you the ropes if you've never worked out in your life.
    8. Never stop never stopping, I myself have never worked out in my life until lately. I've been going to the gym now for 2 months straight 3 times a week, and physically don't see any changes. But my friends and family say they do. Probably because I feel healthier and just have a more positive outlook on things. My trainer tells me I'm only gonna start seeing results about 6 to 8 months in.
    9. This one is obvious but eat healthier, nowadays it can be hard because everything is expensive and we don't have time. But it helps, and no this is not an advertisement but I got those Factor meals that they deliver straight to your door and that helped me a lot to eat healthy.
    10. F*ck Hollywood, f*ck so called youtube fitness gurus because they all say different things just to get the clicks. You don't need washboard abs and a V tapered waist to be healthy.
    11. One last for the ladies, there's a HUGE difference between being a little bit chubby or plus sized woman and being obese. I feel like women are way too harsh on themselves when it comes to this. Most likely because of social media and the The Glorification of Skinniness and The Obsession of Muscles ( as mentioned in Arteice's video here ). My ex was chubby and she always complained about it regardless of how much I told her she was beautiful, and she was perfectly healthy.
-Don't judge people, we're all different. What works for you may not work for someone else, just remember to love yourself and strive to live a happy life right here and now. Sorry for the novel. But great video here. Instant sub from me!

My grandma is 74 she's been chubby(overweight technically) pretty much her whole life and has suffered little to no health problems related to her weight. She never sits still, rarely eats anything she doesn't make herself, it seems like diet is more important than anything to me. A lot of other people around her age are doing worse than her but that fact that most of them smoked(my grandma never smoked) may have contributed to their poor health.

A great episode that I saw tackle healthy food choices was the Berenstain bears. The dad was training for a race and was drinking too much sweetsy colas🥤
I like that the episode wasn't too preachy and his peers didn't say "don't drink that or you'll be fat and ugly". It leaned more into if you eat junk food you won't have room for healthy food and you'll be tired to train properly for your race.
It still emphasized healthy eating without all the fatphobia rampant in the 90s-00s!
I'll link it below if anyone has any kids in their lives.
